Loved resort of Jandia
from MoragtheTorag
we are just back from Jandia and had such a peaceful relaxing break. Weather was wonderful with lovely sea breeze keeping it comfy. Hotel was good, basic rooms but we did get a bargain all inclusive for just over £300 each so not complaining. Food - ok for few days but got fed up with all inclusive and ate out inexpensively in local restaurants at night. Absolutely fine for breakfast and lunch. Salads, grills, casseroles etc. If you pay extra for sea view , its probably worth it, as the sea and beach are magnificent. Beach - goes on for miles in either direction on leaving hotel, we walked for at least 3 miles either way and only turned back because you had a long walk back. Don't be surprised by the many nudists scattered along the beach ! They mostly sunbathe up by the rocks and away from the waters'edge - but some do stand at edge of sea conversing with fully clothed holiday makers, which we found amusing. Hotel - staff were very nice to us being 2 of the few Brits staying there . its mostly German and other Eastern Europeans. Have to say, some of the others guests' manners left a lot to be desired, its worth your while attempting a few words of Spanish along with a tip at start of holiday to establish yourself at the bars. You tend to get served quickly and they often remember your drink of choice. Drinks - all inclusive choice is good , although most products will be locally produced therefore tasting bit different to branded. The wine is just ok, ( but I am a wine lover ) , beer good, spirits fine , mixers fine. There is self service soft drinks and beer at side of pool bar and same plus wines and sangria in restaurant. Your waiter will serve you promptly but we sometimes just helped ourselves. Room service - cleaned every day, in and out in a flash, so if you are on balcony etc , dont feel obliged to leave - they work quickly. other points - no hassle from shop owners, very walker friendly place with lots of older holiday makers when we visited ( which we like - they dont make a lot of noise !) Dare say in summer months it gets busy with youngsters but in Feb it was just tranquilty. All in all a great weeks break, would def go back. Will watch for the bargains although might try different hotel out of interest.
Amazing Holiday
from Rose0307
Me and my mum recently stayed at the Sunrise Jandia Resort in fuerteventura in February 2008, and i have to say it really was a great holiday! my mum even said it was 1 of the best holdidays she had ever had. we got a shuttle bus from the airport it took about 1 hour and a half, my mum booked this online. when we arrived the entrence was sort of round the back and we thought we were in the middle of no where, we went to reception and they were very helpfull and frienly and spoke good english. they gave us a map and directed us to our room. we were on the bottom floor and had to walk down the stairs to get to the lift and walk down the stairs to the last level, which is a pain when you have a heavy suitcase. it felt like we were in a basement when we were walking to out appartment but as we walked in and went out to the balcony the view was great we were parrallel to the sea, the reception is alot higher up and we were just on ground level, it was amazing. the room was nice clean and tidy, we had maid service everyday apart from wednesday and sunday. we didnt have a microwave or a cooker which was stupid seeing as we were self catering. the pool was nice and you could also go to the other hotels pool which was joined to our hotel. we didnt really go anyway we just love the beach. There is a market on thursdays about 20 mins down the road. this was good and there are many shops along the way. i loved going into town at night. we ate in a restaurant twice in town and twice in the restaurant, unfortunatly the restaurant food wasnt great they didnt have a great deal, nothing was named so you didnt know what it was we ended up having abit of salad both nights, they had no vegetables or anything, the deserts were nice though. The beach was just across the road. it was the nicest most luxourious beach i had ver stepped foot on, it was Massive, soo wide and long it was never ending. it was nudist tho, but if u just walk abit down it was ok, you could hire a sunbed on the beach for just 3 euros! very cheap, and although it was only february it was very hot suntimes too hot it reached 28 degrees, we had 1 day of rain but it was hot again after. it was a great holiday the staff was friendly the hotel was clean, the town was good although there was little else to do and the beach was fantastic. i would deffinatly go again !!
Good Hotel
from EBGB,s
Generally a good hotel to stay at. This used to be a RIA? Hotel that was sold on when it needed some maintenance. Perhaps that says it all, great location, great food, great staff, good facilities but in need of little refurb here and there. Another negative for some could be that those using the hotel are mainly German and the food provided is with them in mind. Personally I found them good friendly company and generally enjoyed the excellent 'ott' buffet cuisine. Soft drinks appear to be the real thing - pepsi, 7up etc. Disco some nights, entertaiment team for others, and one very professional flamenco evening Beach a walk away across a main road. No hotel provision here (umberellas, couches etc) all privately owned. One pool is heated and very pleasant when the weather is on the cooler side. Would we return? Yes, a good hotel for our winter break.
Brilliant Holiday. Amazing beach!

This resort is far from the airport and the views from the coach arent that scenic, but dont let that put you off, because when you arrive in Jandia you will be amazed at the beach! We certainly were. The Sunrise Jandia was basic, but clean, and had everything that we required from a holiday. We went Self Catering so didn't eat in the hotel, but heard good things about it. The pool area was lovely, but sometimes struggled to find a sun bed. Especially if we left it till late morning. The Local amenities are Brilliant! Lots of restaurants and bars and shops. Typically European, with the odd English/Irish bar, and great Chinese food!! The hotel is literally 100 meters from all the action. The main highlight of our holiday was the beach! FANTASTIC!! Granted, it was a bit of a walk to it, as its a VERY wide beach!! (approx 10 mins max) but its a nice walk and once you get there you will realise how totally worth it the walk was!! Best beach we've ever been too. This is not the holiday for you if you are after calm seas as the waves reach 10ft high to our knowledge!! and they don't half send you spinning if you get caught up in one... But great fun!! You have to walk to Morro Jable. Its lovely. Very Oldy Worldy and the beaches just get even better!! We got a Taxi there and walked back most nights. Taxi cost about 4 Euro's. All in all, the hotel is lovely (cant speak for All Inclusive) and the town is gorgeous with fantastic shops that are really cheap for perfume etc! Enjoy!!
Certainly not 4 stars. Nevertheless clean, adequate but won't go back

We booked this hotel through Holiday Experts. I specifically asked for hotel room with air conditioning. We were given an apartment without air conditioning. To be fair, it was Holiday Experts' fault but the reception is not very helpful in the matter. Never book with Holiday Experts, they are not giving you what you want. At the end we paid hotel rate for apartment. The complex is a massive concrete block, consists of 4 hotels altogether. The apartment is hot at day time, cool at night. But over looking a busy road. There is a hike to walk towards the beach through what seems to be a deserted moor land. Not very good looking. There are two swimming pools. During our stay, only one restaurant and one bar are opened. The restaurant has a time and seating allocation. Either 6pm to 7.30pm or 8pm to 9.30pm. You are given a table number whether or not you are going to spend only 15 minutes. It is a stupid system that causing a lot of hassle with people taking your table as reception never explain to us that we have to stick to the table number. We taken someone tables the second night, and then our table are take at fourth night. The restaurant is uncomfortably hot and stuffy. Food is very little in choice. For the whole week, I only had shrimp once!! There seems to be a very tight budget for food. Cooking is good though. Staffs are over worked. no one could crack a smile for you and I don't blame them. Entertainments are all in German, if there is something on. We're one of the 4 britons among 500 german in the hotel. You can se the scale. There were only two shows we get to see. I won't go back to Sunrise, but will try Riu next time as that stretch of beach is must better. Jandia is beautiful. The stretch of beach just right outside is full of German.
Fantastic hotel

Originally booked for Sunrise Monica but changed at short notice by Airtours. We were really worried didn't know what to expect but it was better than I could have imagined. The apartments were clean, loads of storage space (which you need with two kids). Pool area was always clean and tidy. Never had to get up early to 'book' sunbeds. A really relaxing two weeks. Just a short walk to a good selection of shops, amusements and the beach. Good variety of food to suit most tastes. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Mostly Spanish and French tourists when we were there only a handful of British families. The Kids found this harder than we did. Only down side was the entertainment the resident team were good at what they did however the acts they brought in could have been better. I would definitly recommend this Hotel There are more stairs than you can imagine however there are two lifts. We chose to use the stairs to help work off the all inclusive meals and snacks!
Sunrise Surprise

Had a great stay here.....clean, modern reception and pool areas. Overbooked at booked hotel and moved here five weeks before coming out to the Island. Mostly unseen on the internet except for literally 2 photo's. Room was only downside being smaller than expected, however a twin so okay for what it was and the time you spend in there. Pools excellent, clean and always washed every morning. Food was very good and reception staff very very helpful. Mixture of mostly Spanish, Italian, German, French and British guests which was fine. Location was fifteen minute walk from beach but reachable by tunnel past zoo (okay some lama's but mostly birds). Very near loads of shops, bars and supermarkets. Local market, busy and tight for room on Thursday morning. Small entertainment team but very good and friendly especially for the children. Not sure what to expect due to late change however this beat Monica Beach and would visit again definitely. Met some great people, British and other nationalities. I will miss lying by the pool listening to Radio Fuerte and the beach *****
Great hotel.....very pleased.

We(2 adults,2 children) have just returned from a week long stay at this Hotel. We booked online with Hays travel who were excellent. The Hotel transfer took aprox 50 minutes....but we had our own mini-bus to take us to the South of the Island where this hotel is. It has the best beaches....clean,large and sandy. We could not fault the beach at all. With lots of sunbeds to rent.Complete with wooden sun shades in the shape of umbrellas. But they do not take up the whole beach....they are grouped in blocks and this keeps the beach looking spacious. The Hotel is located just over the road from the beach.....it takes seconds to cross the road and your on the sand dunes.....the sea is 150 yards away from the road. We really thought the hotel was lovely.....We were All Inclusive and booked a sea view apartment. This had a small kitchen area,2 single beds, large table, bathroom with shower and a seperate bedroom with a double bed. There was lots of furniture to put away clothes and suitcases. And a lovely large balcony that had garden furniture on....such as a plastic table and chairs. The 2 very large restaurants are full of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. You get your own table for evening meals.....the food just kept being put out so you were never waiting for a certain dish....There was no waiting either....no queues at all. There are several drinks stations in the restaurants that serve pop, beer, water, coffee etc......buckets of ice, lemon, orange slices....just help yourself. Also there are bars and drink stations next to the pools......just help yourself to drinks and snacks...... No limits to what you drink at all. And very genourous measures with the spirits from the bar. Pools are lovely...cleaned every morning.....plenty of free sun loungers..... Staff at reception are very helpful.....speak several languages..... Hotel is well maintained with gardeners and maintenance staff all over the place. Lots of Different nationalities there.....but the majority is German and Spanish.... This certainly was not a problem for us.....what does it matter? We were told the Island is windy......but we did not notice anything other than your average sea breeze. We wanted the Sunshine but,at times,it was too hot for us.....well into the thirties and forties. The only negative item to report is that the rooms were not actually air-conditioned.They had ceiling fans...... Maybe they had rooms with air-con........we don't know. But with hindsight,we should have requested this.....as it is still quite warm at night. We never put the T.V on.....although there is one in the room. The fridge worked well..... Shops in either direction from the hotel and noe more than a 10 minute stroll.....and they are nice shops too. Lots of restaurants and gift shops etc. No noise in the hotel..... No problems with towels and bedding changed..... A note was pushed under our door to say what time we would be collected and taken back to the hotel....which was nice. The airport is quite large and friendly. Not like the hassle we had at Rhodes airport last year. We would have no problems in staying here again. I will post some photos.....and your welcome to contact me with any questions.....
Nice Break
from paradisesunshine
The hotel is basic, mostly catered for the germans. Its in a really good spot, next to the beach but there is a busy road between the hotel and beach. We stayed in an appartment, which had a great view of the beach, and we was on the lower level. There are two lifts to go up to the restaurant, there a bit dodgy. Some of the staff don't talk v.good english, but they are helpful. The food- food wasn't great, they had fish, chips, funny meat, ice-cream, fruit. Personally i wouldn't go to that hotel again, i would definately go to the same resort, but we seen a lovely hotel there which is named faro jandia!
enjoyable holiday

Booked our holiday through uktravel.com.inc flights and transfers. This hotel is advertised as a 3* star but it was better than that.It is a large complex of 2 hotels and 1 apart area.Only one of the hotels was in use in May , so food and entertainment was focused around that.We were the only English in the hotel, mainly German but this wasnt a problem, as their standards are higher than ours.Very clean. On edge of town but not isolated at all.10 min walk to beach over boardwalk through nature area. Many steps but are ramps and lifts.Fantastic beach, beautiful for walking to Morro Jable.Entertainment, 2 quiz's{we won hurray, champers}2 discos and 2 shows.Translated no problem.Food was wonderful.Panoramic restaurant.Fab choice, fresh fruit, salads, fish, roasts beef, gammon, chicken, pork, lamb and veggie, pasta rice.Ice cream and puds. All inc wine, sangria beer and soft drinks all on tap. Help yourself, also at pool.A very lovely holiday and would go again.Only tip would be take own towels if poss, hotels a little whiffy.Expect a few nudists on beach!!
We thought the hotel was really nice. Staff were very helpful. But it was too far from the airport. There was not a lot to do, but we did go for peace and quietness and got it.The weather was outstanding. We could not get near the heated pool as there was a lot of dutch and... more
