Parque Albatros Hotel Reviews
" Golf Del Sur is a lovely quiet resort... "
Submitted By: Mr R Burges
Golf Del Sur is a lovely quiet resort only minutes by taxi from the airport. The flight path is over the north of the resort however this is not as bad as you may think and the aeroplane noise does not spoil the holiday.
It is a perfect resort for families or couples who are not looking for a busy nightlife but instead enjoy nice restaurants in the evening, as they are in plentiful supply.
The apartments have been bought over fairly recently by Petchey Leisure and are in the process of being upgraded.
The apartment we stayed in was more than adequate, in fact was lovely, however we were lucky enough to see one of the apartments which had just been upgraded and they were beautiful.
The bar and restaurant were clean and tidy with reasonably priced food and drink on sale.
There was evening entertainment most evenings which was variable as is the norm! The reception was in need of some upgrading which was scheduled to take place in the near future.
The apartments have a great pool and lovely well kept gardens. There are numerous restaurants within a few minutes of the apartments and some shops and the San Blas (main shopping area and restaurants) is within a 10 minute walk.
The only thing I would say is if you have any mobility problems the apartments are on a very steep slope and getting up and down from reception to the block which your apartment is in could be a problem also the resort is quite hilly so again if you have any mobility problems you may want to consider hiring a mobility scooter, of which there are a few companies doing this.
Overall it is a great resort for a relaxing break in the sun and The Parque Albatros is a great place to stay.

" Parque Albatros is an attractive well... "

Parque Albatros is an attractive well maintained complex. Which turned out to be an ideal base for touring the island. It is a quiet resort which is great if you want a relaxing time away from the usual crowds that Tennerife attracts. It is easy to find your way about from Gulf del sur especially if you hire a car. A trip to Mount Tiede is a must. The resort has a good bus route and a day trip to the capital of Santa Cruz was also a great day out.
We stayed for 2 weeks in a private 1 bedroom apartment booked through owners direct ref. C1212, which I would say was ideally suited to a couple. The apartment was extremely well equipped with everything we needed. It was all very clean and tidy. We enjoyed a comfortable relaxing stay and spent many enjoyable evenings listening to CD's and playing board games provided by the owners.
We went in August which meant there were lots of families and the complex provided music and some low key entertainment during the day. The complex was well looked after and every morning we watched as the maintenance team cleaned and prepared the public areas and pool.
There was some flight noise as you are very near the flight path but it was fine from the apartment we were staying in and was mainly morning and evening. In fact we quite enjoyed watching the planes coming in. We had a great 2 weeks as there is lots to see and do on the island.

" We were pleasantly surprised walking... "

We were pleasantly surprised walking into Parque Albatros after a taxi ride of ten minutes or so from the airport.
Rather than the usual rather brash decor we stepped into a tropical garden with a waterfall! Walking down the steps (the complex is built on a hillside) we came to an inviting lagoon pool with a poolside bar.
Our apartment was on the top (3rd storey) floor and the balcony faced the setting sun. The apartment was comfortable and well appointed with all that we needed, and more, for our holiday stay.
It was like walking into a home with furnishings, nick-knacks and a courtesy bar. The owners were very helpful and supplied lots of information with the keys before we left the UK.
The complex was ideal for sunbathing, swimming and a G&T but there was no other entertainment. The poolside restaurant served a good breakfast and lunch but the evening meal was disappointing, we only tried it once.
Local supermarkets supplied all that we needed for some breakfasts and snacks, although there were some essentials already in the apartment, probably from the previous visitors.
However, there were plenty of restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk serving a variety of food.
The coast was only a few minutes walk away and we enjoyed walking along the coast path, especially to the nearby harbour of Los Abrigos where we had some of the best fish we have ever eaten.
There is not much nightlife in Golf del Sur (New Year’s Eve aside), which suited us for a quiet relaxing holiday.
However, we did hire a car for two days to visit the mountain (spectacular) and Playa de las Americas, for a bit of shopping, and went on excursions to see the colony of pilot whales off the coast (fabulous) and the Aqua Park with a dolphin show and salt water swimming pools with flumes and slides.
When we return, which we will, we intend to explore the island further as we feel we have only just scratched the surface.

" I hope this provides an honest review... "

I hope this provides an honest review of the area.
Golf Del Sur is about 10 Km from the Airport, and on the flight path, so some aircraft noise, but not enough to drive you mad.
Parque Albatros is NOT a hotel, but a mix of self owned and Timeshare accommodation (RCI I believe). I stayed in apartment 230, privately owned and independently booked. The accommodation was clean, tidy, and provided everything needed for a s/c holiday (even extra towels and bedding).
Booking was simple and the owners very friendly. This apartment I would recommend, and although I travelled with only one of my children, it would comfortably sleep 4.
Parque Albatross is looking a little tired, but none the less the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Pool is good and pool area extremely well kept, the pool bar and restaurant nicely presented.
The resort (or should I say residential urbanisation) is great if you love golf, it is as the name suggest aimed at the golfer, otherwise it is a totally sole less area, a few good restaurants and a mass if concrete, no real beach. The neighbouring town of San Blas is not much better, just more of the same on a larger scale.
As designated residential area's most 'entertainment' in the bars and restaurants stops at about 10.30pm, so no late nights out.
In ideal location if you require peace and early nights, or if you are looking for a 'safe' base for getting out and about in Tenerife. Ideal for families with very young Kids, not good though if you have Teenagers.
Would recommend the walk to Los Abrigos, along the beach for something more 'local Tenerife', good seafood and not urbanised, otherwise a car is a must or you could get the bus to Cristianos/Americas (Blackpool in the sun) or better still El Medano.
You can book all the standard excursions from the reception, from a company called excursions direct, good value and ALL the tourist places covered.
The first few days, I thought NEVER again, but in hindsight, a clean and relatively safe and quiet area to use as a base to explore the many wonderful things this part of Tenerife has to offer.

" The room we were provided with ROOM... "
Submitted By: Mrs C A Speakman
The room we were provided with ROOM 121 was in a poor condition. It was in dire need of refurbishment. Poor situation, next to a 'tunnel which contained a football table and a table tennis table...therefore noisy day and night.
The bedrooms were tatty. The mirror wardrobes were hard to open and close, kept sticking on the runners. One of the legs on the twin beds was broken. Kettle leaked. The kitchen sink had no plug provided.
Bathroom had very old fittings. The shower didn’t move position. The taps and sanitary ware all in need of updating. The toilet flush didn’t work.
The bathroom smelled of sewers, we had to block the holes up to stop the smell coming through. The balcony furniture was broken, 2 chairs had cracks in them. The table had graffiti carved into it. Generally very run down and tatty.
We tried to move out the day we got there, managed to get a transfer 4 days later.
Staff not helpful, and told us they had not received other complaints, couldn’t give us another room.

There is a good footpath along the coast suitable for walking and there are also shops and supermarkets near at hand. The local bus service stops at the front of the hotel with a reasonably frequent service. There are several really nice looking golf courses and a driving range.
Our 1 bed apartment was situated on the 4th floor and had great views to the pool and restaurant and to the distant hills. Aircraft noise was a distraction but not too bad.
The apartment was nicely furnished and decorated and had a great balcony with table and four recliners and got the sun every afternoon.
For older people looking for a quiet break with a good in house restaurant and nightly entertainment finishing at a reasonable time this is a good place to stay particularly if you want to combine your holiday with walking, golf and/or bowling.
Advice: Great place for a quiet break and for golf and bowls
Activities: Best restaurant for service price and quality was Pedro's in the Winter Gardens.
