We had 2 fabulous weeks at the Palms. Our accommodation was in a 1-bed privately owned bungalow, which was comfortably furnished and had everything you could possibly need. The bungalow was clean, comfortable, and well situated. The Jacuzzi in the bathroom was a welcome asset at the end of a hot day.
Although directly under the flight path for planes landing, at Reine Sofia airport (6 miles away) this did not bother us at all. In fact, after 2 weeks you COULD seriously turn into an airplane anorak!
There is entertainment in the bar every night. They also serve food from breakfast throughout the day and evening. There are 4 swimming pools to choose from and the grounds of the complex are kept very clean and tidy.
As a wheelchair user, we found the complex very easy to get around. The area itself is very pleasant, although there is a LOT of building work on the way to the sea front in various stages of completion.
The local shopping and restaurant area of San Blas is very easy to get to, although a little hilly in parts. The supermarket in San Blas (Netto) had everything you could want, but was quite pricey and the fruit was not of a very good quality. A 5 euro taxi ride takes you to the Mercado, just outside of Golf Del Sur. Prices here are much lower, and the quality of the food is much better.
This was our first visit to Tenerife and we have already booked to go back next year.
If you are celebrating a special occasion, we recommend the Lobster Pot in San Blas. The food is excellent, but you get what you pay for and it isn't cheap.
I would recommend the area for people looking for a quiet and restful holiday. Unlike 'Americas' and Los Cristianos, Golf Del Sur does not have the crowds, stag and hen parties, time-share touts etc. so is ideal for families with young children who can be assured that the area is as quiet during the day as it is during the night (airplanes excepted).
