The hotel is absolutley fantastic. We were in a one bedroon apartment, we had 2 on suites, and 2 great balconies, our room was directly above reception, facing out on the main rd, if i had the chance beforehand, i'd have picked this room myself. The onsite restuarant is... more

We stayed at the Marino Tenerife for two weeks at the end of July/start of August 2011 - myself, my husband and our 6 year old daughter. We had a great time. We had carefully read the reviews before we left and there are some truths in the negative ones so I'll get that out... more

Firstly, Silencio is not a holiday resort. The hotel is clean and peaceful, albeit with plenty going on. Our room was spacious and comfortable with all you need. It may not be bang up to date, but it's true that you get what you pay for. We had a couple of minor... more

My partner and I (in our 30's) just spent a 4 day break at the Marino Tenerife. As already stated in other reviews the hotel is quite dated (and a first put us off), but clean everywhere. The staff are the friendliest I have ever known at a hotel or resort. There were... more

great value
We have just returned from our holiday , and enjoyed it very much. The hotel was very clean, rooms cleaned daily, and bedding and towels changed regulary. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful We was amazed at the kitchen, it was very well equipped, even had a washing machine, so we didnt come home with any dirty washing. In a very quiet location, so if you want a peaceful and relaxing break, i would recommend this hotel. Only one dissapointment was that it did'nt have english television, otherwise it would have been home from home with SUNSHINE!!!!!!!
Nice stay
We went to the hotel in March, we chcecked in at 9 pm, the staff was nice and friendly. When we entered our appartment, I was very supprised. The 1 bedroom appartment was very specious, nice and clean, it had 2 bathrooms (we did not expect it) and 2 big terraces. The kitchen was fully equipped with microwave, the appartment had hair dryer and iron. The swimming pool area was very nice, tidy and there was enough sunshine througout the day (I was worried about it after reading some reviews). We never used the bar (expept drinks) and were not interested in entertainment. The hotel was quite which was a bonus for us, the resort too. The town is too quite, but we had a car and were able to visit Las Gallitas and other resorts for night life. Overall we loved every minute of our stay in Marino Tenerife and we are thinking about going back. Peter K.
awfull 4 star
Just arrived back from tenerife and had booked this hotel as it was suppose to be a 4 star We were very disappointed with it everything about it was shabby and tired. As soon as we arrived we tried to get food at pool bar and it stopped cooking and this was at 1-10pm rediculous especially as we had been up from 4am for flight When we tried to find bars restaurants near by there was very few. We decided the hotel and area was not for us and booked into another hotel in a different area as we did not want to spoil our holiday completely as to spend 7 days here would of done.
Holiday Review
Just returned from a great week at the Marino Tenerife Hotel, Costa del Silencio. The hotel room was very spacious and fully equipped (even though we were half board) and was cleaned every day. Towels changed several times during the week. Food in the restaurant was excellent - wide variety of choices for both breakfast and dinner, and as much to eat as you wanted. Entertainment most evenings in the Koko Bongo nightclub. Swimming pool was great and kept lovely and clean. Six minutes walk from the hotel was a bus terminus from where you could catch a bus to anywhere on the island. A lovely peaceful location if you're looking for rest and relaxation. However, if you want a beach holiday, don't go here - there isn't one :-) All in all a very positive experience and at a very reasonable cost. Chris Moore (Mrs)
Very Impressed for the Price
My partner and I were pleased with this hotel, we were self catering but did eat in the on site restaurant once and food was delicious, apartments were lovely and clean also I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for a 'plush luxury' apartment, as there wasn't a proper oven, only a hob and it was fairly basic (although there are little things like toaster, kettle and microwave) Views are really good from more apartments although if you want a sea view you do have to specify. One thing I will say though is that it is not very disabled friendly unless you stay on the ground floor, so I would specify if you have needs. The location was ideal but if you are looking for nightlife you are better off going somewhere like Los Cristianos, as Costa del Silencio is a quiet place, although lovely with fantastic views. Overall very impressed with this hotel, very cheap and very nice, although if you are expecting high star ratings, this is not the place for you.
lovely hotel
Really nice and cheap hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Located just by the ocean so u can admire the views from the hotel terrace. Rooms - actually one bedroom apartments, were fully equipped and cleaned every day. Hotel management provide evening entertainment, so when the sun goes down u can still enjoy your night by the swimming pool or in the restaurant.
Very poor
I HATED EVERY MINUET AT THIS HOTEL This in NEVER a FOUR STAR hotel If you are looking for TWO STAR no frills cheap accommodation then this may be for you. The pool area is clean and tidy and the rooms are very basic but clean. That’s the good points The bad are as follows 1 unless you have a car don’t book here its out of the way 20 min from town 2 the food is very poor 3 the bar closes at 10.30 - 11 4 the staff are not very friendly 5 little or no car parking 6 the average age of the guests was 65 7 the entertainment was the worst I have ever seen I have travelled to many countries and stayed in many hotels Other than one I visited in Egypt this is the worse DON’T BOOK HERE FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE
Pleasent break for the over 50's
On arrival at Marino Tenerife (Club Marina) i was happy to find helpful reception staff and large areas. Accommadation was 1 bed Appt with kitchen area, lounge, bedroom and bathroom, as i had booked half board not neccassary but available if i wanted to cook. I had read that there was air con, this is wrong and att the appartments have ceiling fans, in November tgis is good but i should imagine in the peak season it would be a nightmare. There is no lift and 3 floors. The first night we were there we were greeted with the largest cockroach I have seen and I have been to some strange places, however he was the one and only we saw in the duration, maybe he was the welcome meeting !! The pool area was shady, literally, the sun does not reach all areas and is hard to find after 3 if you are in the wrong place by the pool. The food was ok, small dining area with a few choices, if you are a vegetarian then dont book anything, including breakfast. The reception has an internet connection, always available not always working. The bus stop for anywhere is a good 15mins walk, not hills tho !! The staff were all friendly and helpful with sugestions on nights and days out and booking forms. i would book here again as I enjoyed the variety of guests nationalities and good to find no children screaming and cursing and the lifeguard does not allow lilo's in the pool.
Great relaxing break
We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Marino Hotel. It was booked on line direct and we were pleasantly suprised by the place. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment self catering, which was huge. Very clean and modern, and the kitchen had all the facilities you would need to cook a 3 course meal,(although it was cheaper to eat out). The view from the balconies (one off the lounge and one off the bedroom) wasn't that great (overlooking the opersite apartments) but could see the sea and plently of space for dining table, chairs etc. The complex is a mix of holidays apartments and time shares and is kept very clean. The pool was lovely (heated on the cloudy days) We didnt eat at the hotel restaurant or watch any evening entertainment, but the pool bar served a good choice of lunch time food at cheap prices. The resort itself is fairly quiet, you need to hunt around for good restaurants, as they are not all in one spot but they are out there. (highly recommend the tapas near the Netto supermarket, which sells eveything!) Would definately book this hotel again, and would rate it 8/10 overall!
Wouldn't recommend
The apartments have a pool, an on site supermarket (although a cheaper one is just up the road) an english pub, a poolside bar and a restaurant. We wouldn't recommend these apartments to anyone. When we first arrived we were allocated our room we discovered that the lights in the bedrooms on the bedside tables didn't work. Then we discovered that the firdge was not working correctly. On the Saturday night my boyfriend closed the patio door and stumbled, he placed his hand out to stop himself from falling and when his hand hit the glass it completely smashed! This resulted in him being in hospital for 2 days. The hotel didn't even ask us if he was ok or anything. They knew he was in hospital and when we came back to the hotel they didn't even go to see him. We think that the glass should not have broken like it did. It broke into big points and started falling out. If a child had fell into that we would not like to even think about what would have happened. There were 6 of us in this apartment and we were moved while the glass was replaced. We asked if we could return to the room when the glass was replaced and the receptionist said yes. A few days later we heard other people in our old apartment (we were moved next door). We were very angry that the hotel hadn't even offered for us to go back into the apartment. We are also very upset that they did not even check up on my boyfriend to see if he was ok. There was 1 female receptionist (can't remeber her name) but she was really lovely. She let us use the phone to phone the hospital etc. But there was one male receptionist and he wasnt very nice at all. We got a complaints form to fill in and we read the instructions which said we were to KEEP the white and green copy, the hotel were to keep the pink and blue. When we took it to the reception the recpetionist tried to keep the white copy, we had to persist to get it back. He was adament that he needed that copy! We found his attitude very rude. We would like to aplaud another of the receptionists as we were woken at 2am one night from noisy neighbours and we went and complained. The receptionist said that he would phone the people in the apartment and tell them to be quiet. As we walked back we heard the phone ring. When they finished on the phone they started making alot more noises! They were doing it on purpose so we phoned the reception from the room and he came along and knocked on there door and gave them a final warning. All in all our experience of these apartments wasnt too bad. Just a few problems with the glass not being strong enough, rude members of staff and faults when entering the apartment.
