Nov 2007, Mrs K Wilson

Have just returned from 14 days at La Piramide. Yes it is basic we got what we paid for cheap and cheerful. Rooms kept clean as was everywhere on the complex. You need to time breakfast carefully, very early or in time for the late rush in between and you will struggle. Lunch best meal every day, evenings very hit and miss.
We counted 12 staff working here including cleaners and all of them worked so hard, 12 hour shifts or more, doing more than one job yet always with a smile and would always stop to help guests whenever needed. Never saw any management, maybe this is why they were always running out of things like Baileys (local version) and white wine. Made friends with one of the resident cats called Lucas a grey tabby likes being stroked and loves cold milk!
Ideal for couples wanting a laid back chill out not much for kids. My partner is a fan of Fawlty Towers and he has achieved his dream of actually staying there. Would we go back? Yes we are relaxed and tanned what more can we ask for!

Just returned from a fantastic week...

Oct 2007, Mrs M Puricelli

Just returned from a fantastic week in La Piramide apartments.
Okay, it wasn't perfect, but the friendliness of the staff more than made up for the occasional lack of spoons, the odd power cut, and the non-functional safe.
Reason I found this site is we're on the net trying to book it again for next year. Those who complained about everything should consider what they paid, and ask themselves if they were there to enjoy it or to find fault with everything.

All staff are friendly and helpful....

Oct 2007, Mr M Farley

All staff are friendly and helpful. Food getting better. Stayed twice this year and will be booking for Christmas. The only downside is the all inclusive drinks should be at least until 11 o’clock and you should be able to have more than 1 drink at a time.
Kavanaghs bar is great for Sunday lunch and also do happy hour twice a day. Mustang Sally is also a good bar and great food. A pizza takeaway has just opened up by Sally’s and a steak house/bar very posh, a nail shop and a supermarket were still being finished.
Overall quiet but everything you need close at hand.

First of all I would like to say that...

Sep 2007, Miss A Kerr

First of all I would like to say that my overall rating would be a zero but it doesn't give me the option!!
The picture that is put on the internet of these apartments is very deceiving as it looks quite nice but that’s far from the reality. We were situated in the middle of a building site when the work commenced at 3.00am and carried on until the afternoon so sleep was a big issue here. We were not informed about this when booking our holiday.
On arrival the apartments looked quite clean and basic but in our 2-week stay we only had our room cleaned twice and toilet roll we had to buy ourselves.
For a self-catering apartment it had terrible amenities as there were no crockery, toaster, microwave or kettle. If you wanted these "luxuries" you had to pay extra which is absolutely ridiculous, as these should have been provided in the price of the apartment.
We also were not informed that our apartments were in the middle of nowhere and to get to the nearest town was 11 euros in a taxi and the same back. Apparently there was a courtesy bus but we would have had to walk to get it. We wanted to complain to our rep, who we arranged an appointment with and waited 3hrs for him but he never showed up and we never saw him for the duration of our holiday.
We were told that the beach was a 2-minute walk away but it was actually a 20-minute drive!!!
We couldn't even arrange to do trips as the rep didn't show and also they were quite expensive when we did find out from other people, so basically we were tied to these apartments for two whole weeks - total hell.
I would strongly recommend that if you have booked to go here - think twice about your decision and maybe hire a car.
My Advise would simply be- DON’T GO......ITS NOT WORTH WASTING YOUR MONEY ON!!!!!!!!

Apartment was very basic and clean on...

Sep 2007, Mrs T Moore

Apartment was very basic and clean on arrival; however they only cleaned our room once.
Food was very poor, the same all the time and only a small selection, you had to get there early to get cutlery always running out. There is no waiter service and you have to clean your own tables and take plates etc to a hatch for them.
That’s enough about the dinning, now on to the bar. The staff were excellent only handful work two shifts to cover the day.
The pool area was clean and tidy but only a handful of sunbeds available this is due to bottom apartments having them outside their rooms and no sun brollies were to be seen.
If you wish to leave early in the morning and want taxis reception is closed, only opens between 9.am and 4pm then you have a to go to pool bar / restaurant and ask him to get your key etc, poor service I think, we had to ask a cook to ring a taxis for us the day we departed most embarrassing doing this in dining area at 08:20.
All in all made the best of it if you are looking for a cheap basic holiday away from it all, this might be for you, it was more disappointing for us. Did not see our rep all week!

Despite having read all the negative...
7 / 10
Jun 2007, Ms Louise And David

Despite having read all the negative reviews we managed to travel with an open mind and wow what a pleasant surprise.
The hotel was basic as were the rooms, but very clean, comfortable and tidy. Had 3 towel changes in a week and 2 lots of bed linen.
OK so the food wasn't first class but it was fresh and nicely presented, we had no problem at all and certainly didn't go hungry. We do have standards before you think we may just put up and shut up, but it really was enjoyable, tasty food.
The hotel was only a quarter full as it was out of school holidays so very peaceful and relaxing - just what we wanted. Very few children there which was also a plus point.
The outdoor bar, although not over-stocked, catered for most people's tastes and was a relaxing meeting place after lunch or just to get out of the extremely hot sun. I can honestly say we would return here but not with children.
Absolutely nothing for them to do apart from a snooker table, darts board and of course the pool. It's a quiet get-away for couples who just want to chill out.
Lovely walk along the coast to Caleta de Fuste, takes about 20 minutes, and you get a chance to feed the chipmunks. Buy a bag of sunflower seeds and they'll eat them out of your hand.

Having read many reviews about La...

May 2007, Linda845

Having read many reviews about La Piramide apartments, I and 3 friends set off on holiday with great trepidation, but had all decided to make the best of it.
What a surprise when we arrived.
The Reception and bar area looked great, clean and spacious, the barman came straight over to let us know where our rooms were and then started to pour our drinks.
He also gave us all a packed meal that had been made for us as we arrived at 9.30pm and had missed evening meal.
From then on it just got better and better. The pool area is lovely with plenty of loungers.
The apartment and all communal areas were spotlessly clean.
The food was lovely with plenty of choice. Although there was a skeleton staff, we never waited longer than a minute to speak to anyone and all the staff were helpful and friendly.
We did have a leak in one of the rooms but it was repaired within 5 minutes of reporting it.
Yes, outside the apartment area it is a building site, but then hotels don't just appear they do have to be built and there was no noise at all during our 5 days.
As the apartments are set in a square with the pool being in the middle, you didn't have to look at the building site at all.
The free bus to the next town was very convenient but it was only 4 Euros in a taxi anyway.
Between the four of us we have travelled all over the world, ranging from 2 stars up to 5 star accommodation and we were all equally impressed with La Piramide Apartments. If we had to complain it would only be that the pool was extremely cold.
Enjoy your holiday!

After reading lots of worrying...
6 / 10
Nov 2006, Miss A Cummins

After reading lots of worrying reports I have to say I was surprised by this hotel. It was by no means the Ritz but that wasn’t what we paid for.
I was there for a week and the room was cleaned every 2 days with clean towels and bedding changed once. While the apartments are basic and in need of updating they had everything we needed being there on an all inclusive basis. The staff were laid back and friendly enough though not always around when you needed a drink!
The food wasn’t great, breakfast was probably the worst, though there is enough to get by on (toast, fruit, yogurts etc), a full English buffet is offered but it didn’t look too appealing. Lunch was fine with a veggie option offered which surprised me and lots of fresh salad, vegetables and rice.
I didn’t stay for the evening meal which looked pretty much to the same standard, though the next resort is only a 30 min walk along the beach or 4 euros in a cab where there were plenty of nice restaurants to choose from (the Indian and rock steak house being the best).
The area itself was a bit of a building site but in a few years when fully developed it will be packed out with tourist and while you’re laid by the pool I didn’t notice any noise coming over.
For a last min cheap holiday it was absolutely fine, and I would consider returning again, the only thing I can really complain about was the cloud cover blocking the sun which I can’t really blame the hotel for! If your about to go on holiday there I’m sure you will have a fab time just take the hotel for what it is - cheap and cheerful!

Well, you certainly get what you pay...

Nov 2006, Mrs D Starkie

Well, you certainly get what you pay for!
We booked a cheap deal for a 2week AI holiday at La Piramide. There was certainly a lot that could be improved on. The first week the food was horrible, there were flies everywhere in the restaurant/canteen and it was not very clean. The apartment was basic but clean and the pool was very nice and cleaned on a daily basis.
In the middle of nowhere, which we did know before booking so no real complaints there, next resort was a good 30min walk but only a short taxi ride.
A new lady had just purchased La Piramide and we saw a lot of improvement in our second week. The restaurant area was cleaned and presented in a much nicer way, for example cutlery in holders instead of thrown on the table and juices & wine etc in jugs. Food also improved although still not great.
There were also two apartments burgled whilst there which was a little unsettling, this I had already heard was common in the area so we kept all windows and doors shut/locked to be on the safe side.
Overall a very quiet place, pool area nice but food not too great. If looking for cheap quiet getaway with no high expectations this is the place for you!

We stayed at the La Piramide Hotel...
3 / 10
Oct 2006, Mrs J Pearce

We stayed at the La Piramide Hotel October 2006, When we arrived it was 10am in the morning and very hot, while taking the cab from airport which was only5 minutes we thought this looks a bit like a building site, which we were soon to discover that it was. we booked in and got to our room which I wasn’t very impressed.
The double glazed patio doors were full of condensation and a damp kind of smell, although the bedding looked clean it didn’t smell to good. When looking at the kitchen area we were glad that we weren’t self catering they had painted a steel tap red and it didn’t look too clean either. So we dumped our clothes and went for a walk to see where we were, nothing but building work all around us a short walk and there was a couple of Bars and I mean couple 2. We carried on walking all round the front until we got to Caleta de Fuste which was a good 45 minutes if you walk slow 30 if you’re faster. A lot of nice bars there.
Back to the hotel the pool was nice and very clean and plenty of room and sun beds.
Time for lunch Tables chairs walls front of serving area looks like it could do with a good scrub, went to get plates and there’s ants crawling over the basket where the sugar and tea are kept. The food looked awful. By the state on the restaurant it put us off the food. It was very under staffed we felt sorry for the young lads working the bar they were doing everything from washing dishes to cleaning the pool watering plants.

We wouldn’t stay at this hotel again it is the worse place that we have stayed. Also our windows at the back didn’t lock, I wasn’t too worried about that because we were on the top apartment but would have if we were on ground floor.

La Piramide Well Well, just got back...
4 / 10
Sep 2006, Miss L Hewitt

La Piramide
Well Well, just got back from a two week stay in Costa Antigua and I'm glad to say that it didn't Costa Too Mucha because that was one of the few things going for it!
Lets start with my apartment:
1. Cupboard Doors Didn’t Shut
2. No Toaster/Kettle Anything Really Except 2 Rings on Hob
3. No Aircon
4. Not Enough Cutlery for 2 people
5. Dirty pots and pans
6. Beds gave us a rash
7. We got ELECTROCUTED both by the outside light switch
8. Pedal Bin Broken
9.Toilet Roll Holder Broken
10. Cupboard over cooker broken
General Remarks
11. Poorly staffed
12. In the middle of the wilderness (although if you read these reviews you should expect this as we did!)
13. 1 CD playing constantly for 7 whole days
11. Bar won't serve glasses with Alco pops (as a lady I don't like to drink out of the bottle)
14. No entertainment except for a crappy juggler once in 2 weeks, my boyfriend had more skill and he can barely juggle!
Plus points
1. Not too expensive
2. Saw no crime
3. Relaxed atmosphere
4. Staff friendly
5. Main town had some gorgeous restaurants
6. We adopted a gorgeous ginger and white kitten called Steven (if you go please look out for him)
All in all an average trip, the weather wasn't great and we had about 8 days of sun 4 days of cloud and 2 average days, the beach was nice although 9 euros for a deckchair for 2 hours is ridiculous, just sit on the sand! It is great to hire a car and Hertz are probably the best, the sand dunes in Corralejo were the whole highlight of my trip they are amazing, and this town is much better to stay in my opinion! Do either the North or the South avoid the middle, and stay well clear of dirty and stinky Puerta Del Rosario!
Many Thanks For Reading

Just returned from a week at this...
6 / 10
Sep 2006, Mrs L Jacobs

Just returned from a week at this hotel. Food acceptable for a 2 star hotel, room’s very spacious and very nice pool. Visitors should be aware that the reception is shut for large periods of time during the day and very little English is spoken by any of the staff.
The most worrying problem was that during the week of my stay there were alot of rooms broken into. It was suggested that management make new guest aware of the problem but nothing was done. During the stay a least 15 people requested to be moved to other hotels. Many others could not wait to get home. I have travelled to lots of different countries over the years but this is unfortunately the only hotel where I have felt a concern about security.
If you are planning to go here just remember to keep the shutters bolted on the back windows. Make your own judgement, take the free bus to the beach but walk back as is it a lovely walk along the paved path and remember to take some nuts for the chipmunks who run up to you to be fed.
