Not long back from a great holiday in Palma Nova where we stayed at the hotel Tropico Playa. The hotel location was fantastic the beach was just across the road and both beaches in Palma and Magalluf are amazing.
The accomodation - room sizes were a little disappointing rather small for a family of three but very clean and we were impressed with the services, there was fresh towels every day and rooms were cleaned spotlessly daily, also staff were very polite and welcoming.
The dining facilities were also excellent we never had to wait for a table the food was of a high standard, catering for everyone's needs and the vast variety they had to offer was fabulous. The waiter service was second to none and entertaining too.
Palma Nova is a brilliant little resort just a short distance from Magalluf and Palma's magnificant Royal Palace and unforgetable Cathedral which is one of the largest gothic structures built in the 14th century. Whist staying in Palma Nova these sites were easily accessible by bus which are fully air conditioned and run every half an hour the numbers 104 and 106 take you directly to these attractions.
In Magalluf there is the famous pirate show which is a must see for any one who visits this fantastic place. Overall our holiday was Fab,Great, Brill,excellent,wanderful what more can i say i would definately recommend a visit to this lovely place and go back again again.

Just came back from Tropico Playa and being 17 i was worried from what i saw in the reports but none of them were true. loved the girls at reception they were always nice. there was a range of food for everyone. cleaners were brill!! and it was directly opposite the beach. close to magaluf which was good for me and my mate and cheap taxis. loved the cocktail bar and the only true bit i have read from a report was the cocktails were strong but only 1 out of about 5 i had!!!! we loved it and i would defo go back. ignore the nasty reports they are WRONG!!!!!!!

just come back from 11 nights at the tropico playa,it was fantastic,ignore all rubbish reviews as what they expect god only knows,the food was excellent with a great choice for everyone,gerardine the kids entertainer was great with the kids,my son connor who is 5 absolutely loved her,the only thing what lets the hotel down is the pool/sunbathing area which is way to small but right over the road is the best beach,s sunloungers plus a parasol is 9 euros,not bad really.would certainly go back again.

We booked this holiday at the last minute without really knowing much about the resort..so when checking reviews re. Hotel Tropico we were a little apprehensive! BUT...we had a brilliant week there!
We have a 2 and a half year old and he also had a great time.
We found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming and on arrival we were impressed to be given a choice of 2 rooms. Was handy to pick the quieter of the 2 (RM 32 - away from the bar and main road).
The air conditioning was a god-send and we found the facilities to be very clean and the sheets crisp and fresh!
The pool area was ok - yes, the main pool is too small for the size of the hotel but it didnt really stop us from enjoying time in it. The baby pool was just right, shaded most of the day but access for small children was a bit dicey - no steps, you have to clamber up and over into it. (just a prob for the kids when wanting to get out if you turn your back for a second).
The pool bar was useful, selling pizzas, burgers, lollies...vodka tonics! Convenient with a family.
There is also table tennis and pool, video games inside, TV, internet access.
The restaurant was fine (we are talking 3 Star accommodation so you can't expect gourmet). There was a wide range of food to help yourself to, buffet-style. I dont know why peole have said there were no healthy options! There was always plenty of salads, fresh fruit - yes, chips were available but there was always alternatives - rice, pasta, potatoes. Breakfast was plentiful - a range of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts, croissants, pastries....hash browns (our fav...) bacon, eggs....the list goes on. You can't complain for a 3star place, was great.
The beach is literally on your doorstep, just over a smal road and your there. Plenty of water activities and sunbeds. Gorgeous sands and views. (there were jellyfish early august so be cautious).
We have already said we'd go back to Tropico Playa, good value for money, brilliant weather, short flight...
Oh, lastly, the kids entertainer i'll let you judge for yourself......

we are just back from a week in this hotel we were very happy with the hotel itself but the room we got was too small and the rooms are very basic no view either we were at the back of the building so our view was the back of other hotels the food was good and staff are really nice the head waiter cilero is just fantastic the life and soul of the place he runs round the restaraunt saying i love you i love you and geraldine the kids entertainer god love her she tries her best the kids just love her !!!!!this hotel is in a great spot tho center of everything
oh and the western water park we went to if you have small children there is no point going as our children who are 5 and 7 could do nothing as everything is for older children

Just returned home after spending 2 brilliant weeks in palma nova with my partner and another couple. Anyone reading some of the previous reports of " a hell hotel" should ignore.
We found the hotel to be clean, welcoming with friendly staff. The food was buffet style breakfast consisting of fruit,cereal,traditional english beakfast aswell as bread,cheeses, ham accompanied by fruit juices and hot drinks. Evening meal was again buffet style where you could enjoy 3 courses with lots of choice which changed every evening.
Waiters and bar staff were efficient we did not think that the prices of drinks were at all bad.
Spent most of the days at the beach which is just across the road as we felt that the pool area was not big enough and the sun disappeared too soon!!
The hotel was in a brilliant location being so close to the sea and a close enough walk to magaluf incase we wanted more of a "night out". Hotel entertainment was nothing to get excited about there was music and bingo on each night before the shows it sounded like the same cd on repeat but young children seemed to have fun.
Would definately consider staying at the hotel again if we ever returned to palma nova.

when we arrived at the hotel we were given a room at the back of the hotel , there was no lifts to this part of the hotel,the room was dirty and smelly . we changed our room after complaining to the manager .the room that we were given was to small for a family of four. the food was avarage but the entertainment was very poor.
we would not recomend this hotel to anybody.

the hotel is in a good position and we had lovely weather.
really close to magalluf and was a nice walk along the beach to get into the main strip.
food in the hotel was nice and the rooms were very clean.
overall had a good holiday!

Just got back from a two week stay was realy worried after reading the reviews but had a fab time, staff very nice at the hotel rooms cleaned every day by very polite maids. Only fault was the evening entertainments rep after seeing also hearing her talk to the other families in the hotel we decided to give the evenings in the hotel a miss. menu needs to change to more choice also we had an early morning flight (07.30 am)the resturant did not open this is the first hotel i have been to were the resturant is not open.

We have just returned from the hotel tropico and had a brilliant time. What can i say i was really worried about going when i read the reviews but when we got there we were really surprised it was really clean and the room was great.
The breakfast was good with a wide range of choices including fried breakfast and international and it was hot, the evening meal was also great and had a large range to choose from, everyone should be satisfied, infact we said that it was some of the best food we had ever had in spain, plus the staff in the restaurant are good fun, we never had to wait for a table either.
All the staff were very helpful and very nice they couldn't do enough for u, if we wanted the room cleaning then we would put out the sign to say please clean on the door, our room was cleaned everyday.
The entertainment was good fun, we didn't use the pool as the beach is only accross the road but it looked very clean and there was always alot of people in it, if u want to use the sunbeds on the beach it will cost 9 euros for 2 beds and the parasol.
The view from our room was amazing it looked over the pool and straight onto the beach we couldn't of asked for better.
Palma nova was a lovely place and very clean, i would advise getting the bus into palma because the cathedral is an amazing sight.
The only downside to the hotel is that our flight was on the sunday morning at 4.25am but we were made to leave the room by 12 noon on the saturday before and u have to leave your cases in the lobby but they will keep anything behind the desk such as your passports and tickets so they are safe, they say u can book a complimentary room but it turned out that this is just the toilet near the pool which was a nightmare, but please don't let u put this off because i would go again as long as i had different flight times and didn't have to wait.
In total i was really pleased with this holiday and would go back again.

Just got back from 2 weeks staying in the hotel, had a great time weather fantastic!!! dissapointed with the air conditioning in the room very poor!! staff very friendly especially the resturant staff Cirilo, Sheila, Anita etc... & also Vicky on reception on our arrival was very helpful. Food was o.k couldn't really complain but did get a little to the same the second week we were there! Hotel very clean & maid service we couldn't fault. Brilliant situation of the hotel right opposite the beach & close to all shops, pubs etc.... Would defitnatly recommend this hotel to people & I would visit again.

JUST GOT BACK FROM TROPICO PLAYA, HAD A GREAT TIME I AGREE WITH ROOMS ARE TOO SMALL AS WE WENT WITH 2 KIDS AND HAD 4 BEDS IN ONE ROOM BUT AS WE ONLY USED ROOM TO CHANGE AND SLEEP NOT A PROBLEM. THEY WAS CLEANED EVERY DAY WITH FRESH TOWELS, THE FULL HOTEL WAS CLEANED EVERY DAY FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, WE HAD GREAT BEACH VIEW.FOOD WAS GREAT LOTS OF CHOICE FOR US AND FOR FUSSY KIDS LIKE MINE AS WELL BREAKFAST WAS FULL ENGLISH BUT ALSO HAD CHOICE OF CEREAL,FRESH FRUIT, COLD MEATS ,CHEESE , BREAD ROLLS,YOGHURT AND PASTRIES .EVENING ENTERTAINMENT WAS GOOD MOST NIGHTS ESPECIALLY LIKED ARNOLD GUTBUCKET. CHILDRENS ENTERTAINER WAS NAFF BUT MY KIDS LOVED HER AS DID MOST OF THE KIDS AND SHE USED TO KEEP ME ENTERTAINED CAUSE SHE WAS SO POOR... STAFF WAS LOVELY AND WORKED VERY HARD ESPECIALLY GAIL WHO WORKED AT THE POOL BAR AND NEIL WHO WORKED IN THE BAR ON A NIGHT WAS QUIET AMUSING ONCE YOU GOT TO KNOW HIM. THE ONLY DOWN SIDE ON MY POINT OF VIEW WAS THE POOL WAS TOO DEEP FOR MY KIDS AGED 7&8 4FT AT SHALLOW END BUT MY KIDS BECAME STRONGER SWIMMERS BECAUSE OF IT AND THE BEACH IS JUST ACROSS THE ROAD SO THEY COULD GO IN THE SEA.
ALL IN ALL A GREAT HOLIDAY WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE

STAYED AT THIS HOTEL BEFORE IT IS IN A PRIME LOCATION ACROSS FROM THE BEACH .HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH THE MISERY BELOW THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT THEY HAVE NEW CHEFS AND THEY WERE BRILLIANT ,I AM A FUSSY EATER BUT THERE WAS LOADS OF CHOICE ,BREAKFAST WAS THE USUAL ENGLISH WITH A VAST CHOICE ,THERE WAS FRESH FRUIT ,CEREALS CONTINENTAL HAMS AND CHEESES, YOGHURTS , NUTS ,CAKES AND DIFFERENT TYPES OF BREADS EVERY DAY .DINNER HAD AN EXCELLENT CHOICE THERE WAS A LARGE SELECTION OF SALADS , COLD CUTS AND FRESH FISH ,THEN THERE WERE ALWAYS AT LEAST FOUR HOT CHOIES ,I HAVE 2 KIDS AND THEY NEVER COMPLAINED ,ESPECIALLY PUDDINGS AS THERE WAS LOADS , FOOD I WOULD GIVE 9/10 ONLY NEGATIVE BEING THE SMALL DINING ROOM AND SMALL PLATES ,IF PLATES WERE BIGGER WE WOULDNT NEED TO KEEP GOING BACK UP FOR MORE ! EVENING ENTERTAINMENT WAS SURPRISINGLY GOOD TOO THE HYPNOTIST ADN COMEDIANS WERE BRILLIANT ,BINGO AND QUIZ NIGHTS RUN BY THE MOST BORING WOMAN IN CHRISTENDOM!
BOOK YOUR TICKETS THROUGH RECEPTION OR ACTUALL GO YOURSELVES TO THE TRIPS FIRST CHOICE RIP YOU OFF TERRIBLY !
POOL AREA IS TOO SMALL BUT POOL WAS WARM AND TEMPERATURES WERE 33 DEGREES SO GOOD LUCK IF YOU ARE GOING OUT THERE,AIR CON BY THE WAY IS FREE IN THE ROOMS
THE ONLY REALLY BAD THING I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS HOTEL IS THAT THE ROOMS REALLY ARE TO SMALL AND LACKING IN PRIVACY ,BUT IF THERE ARE TWO OF YOU IT IS A GREAT BASE AND GREAT LOCATION ,THE HOTEL HAS BEEN THERE FOR 38 YEARS + AND IS GREAT NOT SO PALMA NOVA THAT IS TURNING INTO BLACKPOOL WITH A PRETTY BEACH AND I FIND THE COSMOPOLITAN FEEL THAT WAS THERE 10 YEARS AGO NOW HAS GONE AND IT IS ALL TOO SADLY MERGING INTO MAGALLUF

just got back from this hell holiday (14th june 2008),been to palma nova in majorca a few times,resort is very nice.
hotel is just hell food not cooked for breakfast and evening meal we ate out after 2days.staff not nice we took 2 kids out age 17 and 13 notthing in hotel for them.
we stayed for 2weeks and sheets on beds never changed.kids rep was drunk while doing a mini disco for the under 10s, slide on the wet floor with loads of bleach ect been put on with no sign, we hire a fridge(cool box) out for 2weeks which was 75 euros and than was told by staff not to tell other guess due to people should only hire them if u have a baby,this hotel states a 3star hotel i wouldnt give it a 1star need shutting down.own first night the door came off they diddnt do anythink untill late afternoon the following day also people room was getting painted and they wasnt to go in they room untill that night without curtains up has paint was still wet.pool flitter wasnt working but still letting people in there,to much to list but if your thinking about going to this hotel please dont waste your money it was the hell hotel.
if you want a nice hotel in palma nova than try santa lucia going through thomson very nice
