We have just returned from a week at The Poseidon Beach Hotel in Laganas, Zante. After reading some of the reviews i was a bit concerned but i needn't have been! We had an absolutely brilliant holiday.
The Hotel was lovely, the rooms are basic but clean. The only real disappointment was the bathrooms but i know from previous holidays to Greece these are never A*. It was nothing serious just basic and old and you had to hold the shower as there was nothing to attatch it to but we managed fine. The towels and sheets were changed twice during our weeks stay which i felt was sufficent really.
The hotel staff were always pleasant and happy to help and all the maids and cleaners always said hello to us when we walked past them. The reception staff are at the desk 24 hours a day and they too were very polite.
We paid 20 Euros for Air con for the week and 20 Euros for the safe but we felt it was well worth the money. You have to leave your passports in reception until you check out which i had no problem with, they are quite safe.
The position of this hotel is 5* you have the best of both worlds pool or beach right on your doorstep. The pool bar is brilliant we got all our water from the fridge on the way and on the way back from the beach it is only 50 cent for a small bottle and 1 Euro for a massive bottle. We used the bar every night of our stay either for the first or last drink of the evening. The cocktails are lovely! We used the sunbeds on the beach 7 Euros for two with a parasol for the day or you can use the sunbeds on the grass area for 5 Euros a day and get a 2 Euro voucher for the poolside cafe. Sunbeds around the pool are free.
The poolside cafe is also very good we had a full english breakfast on one day of our stay which was lovely only 4 Euros! We had the breakfast provided every other morning which was fine for us toast and jams, fruit, biscuits and cereals. The fruit juice isn't very nice so we used to get our own from the supermarket (nemesis) straight across the road. You can get everything in there!
All the restaurants were nice very similar really. We went back to one particular one twice which is called APOLLO. Come out of the hotel turn right, take the next left keep walking it is straight in front of you at the bottom of the road really nice people and nice food too!!!
I would advise going to your reps meeting as we learnt alot about the area and booked a few trips too. We went on the Dusk Delights tour that was our favourite you go to a local villiage church, Wine tasting at Callenico Vineyards(We bought 3 bottles back!) and then to boccoli hill (amazing views!) Try the ice cream from The Best Ice cream parlour whilst overlooking Zante town! The final stop was Zante town which was beautiful i really liked it there.
We also went to the water park which was good but small and expensive! And we went to smugglers cove on the boat which i personally did not enjoy. It was a long day and the sea got choppy which meant we were not allowed off the boat to swim to the reck!
The other thing to do is go on the glass bottom boat to see the turtles! We tried the pedlos and we hired a little boat but we didn't see any so we finally did the 2 hour trip on the glass bottom boat which was well worth the money. We saw two turtles and had an hour swimming on Turtle island which was amazing we took our snorkles and saw all sorts of lovely fish around the coral. They also took us to the caves around the back of the island and backed the boat right in which was amazing!
We also walked to Cameo Island one night which was lovely you pay 3 Euros 50 at the top to get on the island and they give you a drinks voucher for the bar. Really beautiful it has a jetty you can walk right out on and get some lovely pictures.
All in all a great holiday we all really enjoyed it and can't wait to go back next year!

We stayed here in aug 2008 and had a really fantastic time. The hotel was immaculate, couldn't fault anything about the place. The staff were very freindly and helpful and the prices both at the bar and snackbar very competitive and served to a good standard. The hotel is situated in an ideal place located right on the beach and only five minutes walk from the lively strip. The beach is excellent and you can walk out for miles in the warm water and its only up to your waist. The only downside is it is 7 euros a day for a sun lounger. The night life on the strip is fantastic with things to cater for all ages. The restaurants are very good and reasonably priced.

Im recently just back from Zante and stayed in the Poseidon. It was by far one of the worst hotels I have ever been to. The rooms are 'cleaned' daily - towels changed every 3 days bed sheets never changed but the beds were made everyday and floors swept however empty water bottles that were put next to the bin as they did not fit in were never lifted!
The hotel staff were the most dour-faced people I have ever come accross and cannot understand a word of english! We had several problems such as the 1st room they tried to put us into which we refused to even look at due to its location (entrance to the hotel bottom/basement floor looking onto the street) The 2nd room the bathroom lights blew and we had to go 2 full days without any light which to me is a health and safety hazard taking a shower in total darkness. The reason it took 2 days to get it fixed was because the hotel staff did not understand what we were saying to them. To top off the full experience on our 2nd last night we were told the the 'boss' at reception if we paid 50euro we could keep our room for a extra few hours due to our flight time 2am Mon and check out time 10am Sun. She advised us to come to reception and pay this the morning we check out so we did this but she then told us we could not do this hut us with the crap they cant speak english and kicked us out onto the street. Luckly the hotel across the road Nemisis gave us a room for the day. I would go back to Zante in the future as its a lovely place and your garanteed the sun but I would never go back to Poseidon and would not recommend it to anyone. Our friends who we met up with over there were not impressed with the hotel either.

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from a 2 week holiday where we stayed at the Poseidon Beach Hotel. We are both in our mid-twenties.
This hotel is great and neither of us had any complaints.
The rooms were cleaned every day and clean sheets and towels every 3 days.
All the staff there were happy to help in any way they could.
There is also someone on the reception desk & 24 hr security if you should need it.
The location is great, right on the beach and close to the main strip but not too close to be disturbed at night.
The beaches are beautiful, sandy with shallow waters so ideal for young kids.
Breakfast was basic in the hotel, mainly toast with jams and cheese and ham available, yoghurts and melon etc, pretty much what i expected from a greek hotel to be honest but there are hundreds of places to eat so you will never go short of food.
All in all a 10/10 holiday and i would definately go back!

Me and my boyfriend went Laganas for our 1st holiday together abroad and i have to say it was the best holiday yet!!The reason for this was mainly due to the quality of the hotel and the staff. Some of the funniest and nice people ive met.Especailly Chris who ran the pool bar!The hotel bar had the best atmosphere every night. The hotel was clean and modern and we didnt have any problems. Our rep was never around which was a bit annoying as we wanted to book trips and ask questions. The maids came every day n were spot on.The breakfast was nice not exactly much choice but enough to keep you going til lunch. We loved the hotel and staff so much were goin back next year.

Just returned from 7 night stay, and found the location of the hotel to be the only positive about the hotel it's right on top of the beach.
We both found the reception staff very stony-faced and grim compared to any other hotel we've stayed in.
The standard of cleaning ranged from bad to non-existent. Our 1st floor side sea view was woken frequently by service vehicles most mornings. Breakfast was a scramble affair, we would both recommend a stroll along the beach towards the Kalamaki Beach Taverna for breakfast. On checkout they tried to charge us for room service we hadn't used.
Lagana was exceptional with long sandy beaches where you can literally swim with the fish. There were many, many bars and restaurants full of amazingly friendly locals (just not in the hotel) and cheap food and drink.
We will definately return, just not to the Poseidon Beach Hotel.

This was our very first holiday abroad and I have to say we made the right decision in staying at The Poseidon Beach Hotel.
The room was adequate for what we wanted and extremely clean as were all the other areas of the hotel.
The food was great and the staff were brilliant...definitely would come back here!
Situated in a great position to the beach and Laganas resort centre, not really a family place at night as it is full of young people, but it was great to see so many people having a good time!
Absolutely 10/10.

Excellent beach position, 5 mins walk from main street.
Spotless bedrooms, small but adequate bathroom, well above Greek standards, a must air con (extra), free TV, small fridge (extra), good sized balcony, beautiful sea view.
400 odd numbers staff, great, friendly and competent. Clean, warm, descent size pool. Put your towels out as you come home, e.g. 4am secures you a descent spot in morning to sleep the hangover off!
Adequate continental breakfast. Pub over road serves full English, delicious! Will rebook here again this year through Medhotels. Couldn’t fault this hotel.

The Poseidon Beach Hotel is a beautiful, clean hotel, perfectly situated on beach. We had 3 rooms next to each other overlooking the pool and the sea. Fantastic views. This hotel also has lovely gardens.
There are plenty of sun beds around the pool, also a grassed area with sun beds between the hotel and the beach. Not too far to walk to the lively resort centre. The poolside snack bar is also very nice. Excellent restaurants are plentiful in this resort and cheap too! The Garden of Eden was one of our favourites.
We were lucky enough to have a turtle swim right up to us in the sea just outside the hotel! The sea is very safe for children as you can walk out a long way and still only be up to your waist in the water. A trip to the paradise of Smugglers Cove is a must. We will definitely return to the Poseidon Beach Hotel next year - for 2 weeks, as 1 week is not enough.
