Lovely hotel in a very quiet part of the resort, close to black sandy beach (uphill walk back to hotel, although not too bad!) and plenty of local bars/restaurants if you wander into the more residential areas around the hotel.
15 - 20 minute walk into the main part of the resort and well worth the walk, plenty to do and see when you are there. Loro Parque is only 15 minutes walk in the opposite direction and again well worth the walk.
The hotel staff were superb, very helpful with great English but unfortunately, after a very promising start, the food was pretty much same, same every day - by day 4 we were eating out even though we had paid for half board.
I must point out that I probably would have found something to eat each meal time but my husband is a very fussy eater!
The bedroom & bathroom were very clean but unlike the public areas did not live up to the 4* rating for the hotel. Some TLC needed for bedrooms I think and the mattresses were VERY uncomfortable. Only one pillow per bed but they did give us extra as soon as we asked. You can pay to have mini bar in the room and personally I would do this if we ever visit again, just to keep water etc cold so you have chilled drinks handy.
Cannot comment on evening entertainment in the hotel as we tended to drift over to the British bar across the road most evenings after dinner. Great atmosphere with some ex-pat locals in most days.
Would be happy to stay at this hotel again in the future.

Lovely, quiet hotel situated in a mainly residential area, but only 200 yards from a black, sandy beach. Hotel was clean, the pool area very quiet and no towels left on sun beds which was so refreshing. Room was large and bathroom was great although the balcony was small. The staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful so no complaints there!
The restaurant is large, bright and airy but to be honest the food was not the best. Needed to get down for dinner when it opened at 6.30pm. Any later and the main course was cold although there was a microwave if you wanted to risk reheating. We met some lovely people, mainly traveling without children. Entertainment was dire, but the Spanish guests seemed to love it. Tended to walk into Town square which took around 15 minutes.
Plenty of bars and restaurants only beware the shops shut at 9pm. All in all we had a great holiday at the hotel Florida but I don’t think we would return as there isn’t much to do in the evenings.

We have been staying at the Florida apartments each year, sometimes twice a year, for the past 14years. Both now in our early 60's. It is an ideal place to stay if you want a peaceful restful holiday. There is a small swimming pool on the roof, that never has any more than 4people in it at a time as most visitors seem to go to the beach. From the roof you can see the Sea. Only a 2minute walk to the bus station, with an excellent bus service to take you anywhere on the island very cheaply.
The reception staff have always been extremely helpful and most of them have spoken English. The rooms are basic, but then you don’t go away to stay in the room. Everything you need is in the room, comfortable bed, good sized bathroom with shower, bidet, toilet and washbasin. The rooms have twin beds, with bedside cabinets, dining table and chairs, sofa, TV. If you are lucky enough to stay in the front of the hotel the balcony overlooks the gardens, lovely when flowers are all in bloom.
There is a shop open from 9.0am to midnight 7 days a week, this is situated 1min from hotel. You can have breakfast, lunch & dinner if required, but we eat out as we enjoy sampling different menus. I wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else, and will be going again this October.

Basically, hotel is great if your over 50, absolute torture if your in your 20's and allocated on arrival, as we were, (this is where most allocated on arrival guests to Tenerife had been put, wish we’d known that) then again that’s the risk you take with these holidays. Not for sun worshipers, cloudy all the time as mountains cause very low cloud, which blocks out the sun completely at most times of the day.
The hotel is near Loro Parque, didn’t go, but it’s hard to miss, advertised EVERYWHERE. Bus service easy to understand, get a bus to Las Americas, but it takes over an hour. Nightlife for over 50's, all restaurants really, however don’t worry if you’ve booked here, there is a stretch of pubs and clubs, but it’s a long walk and you have to learn it. The Buccaneer is the best English Bar for ALL ages; ask a cab driver, it’s on the main stretch.
Holiday for 50's I’d say rate 9/10, holiday for 20's and people who like the sun 2/10. Spent most of the time asleep in our room, which was like a nursing home by the way.
Handy hint, if you get allocated on arrival here you can get transferred to another resort by your holiday rep, Las Americas was 60 euros each, and one star rating less than what we’d paid for, but we didn’t know this till it was too late, so get transferred right away if your idea of a holiday is to: 1. Get really tanned.
2. Listen to anything other than what can be described as "lift music" all day.
3. You want to see more lights and less Zimmer frames.
4. Swim in a pool bigger than your thumbnail!

Just back from 2 week in the Hotel Florida Puerto de la Cruz Tenerife.
Nice hotel in a good position, sea view from room but never in the sun.Hotel and kept very clean, food ok but a bit repetative and aimed at the older Spanish who are the main users of this hotel, like wise the evening entertainment, same duo singing same songs in same order 5 out of 7 nights. No daytime entertainment.
Puerto de la Cruz is a nice place with a good bus service around the island. With the Euro price against the Pound prices are not cheap but some things well worth seeing like the Botanical Garden.Did not go to the Loro Park as £30 sounds a bit over the top to me.
