Riviera Hotel

This was our favorite hotel of three we stayed at in Italy. It looks very posh, even though it's old style decor. The view is unbeatable and worth the cost for lagoon view. The noise from the vaporetto didn't bother us, but we could sleep through anything. We actually didn't even notice it. The quick walk to the beach was convienent as was the quick boat ride to San Marco. Breakfast was great and filling. The only complaint was the shower. My Fiance and I stayed at the Riviera on the Lido, venice from 10th to 12th June. Location is unbeatable really, as you are bang opposite the Vaperetto boat station which can literally take you anywhere in the vicinity. It takes 15mins to St Marks Square in Venice, and the ride gives you the opportunity to take in the whole Venice 'thing' as you ride across the lagoon. Weekend pass was extremely reasonable. I stayed at the Hotel Riviera on Lido for 3 nights from May 12 - 14. I was worried about staying on Lido thinking that I may be shortchanging myself; but I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the hotel. I was fortunate enough to receive a room with a terrace that looked out over the lagoon to main island of Venice. I could see St. Mark's Basilica from my terrace. We stayed 3 nights in the Riviera Hotel. The desk staff was most helpful and spoke broken English, but we could understand each other. The rooms were clean quickly each day. We had breakfast and it was very tasty that included fruit and pasteries. It reminded me of an early vintage hotel where you left your room key at the desk when you left the building. Booked the Riviera, due to the good reviews here, and at other sites. I was in a twin lagoon view room, on the second floor, and this, unfortunately, was the problem. Exceptionally noisy. I was there for a week, and they couldn't/wouldn't move me to another room. By the end of the week I was like a zombie, as I genuinely couldn't sleep due to the noise of the bus/waterbus terminal/street, which is constant through out the day/night. Lovely little hotel, good location - right opposite vaporetto stop on Venice lido. Good buffet breakfast & friendly staff, very clean. Lido is a good location in Venice if you don't mind the vaporetto ride. Vaporettos are very frequent and we actually preferred being away from the crowds at Venice. The lido is very cute and well kept and is cheaper than central Venice. There are quite a few restaurants and bars on the same street as the hotel and a lovely deli just off main street. We stayed here all six of us, mysel, the wife 2 kids, and the mother and father in-law. We found this ideal as it was only a minute from the ferry. We found the staff very hepful, and some rooms have a view of St Mark's Square. The rooms vary in size. We had a large bedroom with a small batrhroom, the in-laws had a smaller bedroom with a larger bathroom. The fare from the airport is 10E per person. The boat runs every half hour. My husband and I recently returned from Venice and stayed at the Riviera Hotel. We had just come from Rome and had stayed in a very basic hotel and was pleasantly surprised with the Riviera. Hotel was very nicely decorated and reminded me of some of the 1920's style hotels in New York. The staff spoke very good English and was extremely helpful with any questions. We stayed at the Hotel Riviera for 3 nights in July 2004. It is a nice hotel, in a good location, with a great staff. The hotel is right across the street from Lido pier. To get to Lido pier, we took a bus (blue bus) to Piazzale Roma Nuovo, then took a boat to Lido pier. From the Lido pier you can get to the rest of Venice. Tickets to ride the boat were 6 Euro for the day, but only buy tickets if you are told that you need a ticket. We never had our tickets check. This hotel is convienently located across the lagoon from San Marco. It is only a short ride on a water bus. The staff was friendly and efficient. The rooms were comfortable, clean and had everything you would need . I would highly recommend this hotel.
