Average in every aspect
The room itself and bathroom were larger than most European rooms, although if you're a light sleeper as I am be warned that noise filters through easily and often. The service was ok, fairly average. Breakfast again was very average. The location is about a 20 minute walk to St Marks square. I doubt we'd stay here again, I think for the room rate you're likely to find better.
Very small but great location
Tiny room for a single, about 7ft x 8ft. All you get is a twin bed with a single and tiny closet. The bathroom and shower are just down the hall that you share with 4 other rooms. Everything was very clean though. The rooms for couples was larger though, queen bed in a room about 9ft x 12 feet that I could see. While it is tiny, you are on the island and that's what's important. There's a nice little eatery just down the street, about 30 feet away. Very helpful staff. Breakfast isn't much, corn flakes or an oat cereal with OJ... more
great location
Hotel Tivoli has a wonderful location very central to everything you would want to see in Venice. The room we had was small but clean. The shower was two feet by two feet with a corner sliding door and even though we are average size people we had to slide into it sideways - in other words obese people do not stay here if you want to shower. The breakfast was plentiful with good variety, excellent cappucino and pleasant service. We would not hesitate to stay here again and we loved Venice so much we will be back someday.
Smallest Room ever - but still very cute!
Since this was my first visit to Venice, I can't compare Hotel Tivoli to other hotels, however, my stay was quite pleasant. Keep in mind, if you like to stay out late, the hotel has a curfew of 1:00AM. The kind gentleman at the night shift agreed to let me stay out until 1:30 one evening. Staff was nice. They let me leave my luggage after I checked out so I could play in Venice until my 8pm train ride. Credit card machine was 'broken,' (I don't know if they really even have one), and there is a cute little grocery shop on the corner... more
Great location
A small economical hotel with quite good facilities ... esp enjoyed breakfast in the backyard. The only problem we had was that the credit card machine was not working and we had to withdraw cash from teh ATM to pay for our stay. Best thing about this place is the location ... walking distance from the frari, san rocco. Very close to the hotel are restaurants, cheap pizzerias and internet cafes. Distance from venetian landmarks is not a big deal as everything is very close by the vaporetto. Just make sure you buy the venice card before you... more
Don't forget the cornetto
The staff were friendly and welcoming, spoke good english which was a blessing! Perfect location, just 5 minutes walk from where the coach dropped us off (or 40 if you get the vaporetto cus it went the long way). Lots of nice restaurants near the hotel and the courtyard is very peacful for a drink or breakfast. The room was nice and clean but don't be tempted to leave the windows open at night, Venice is built on a swamp and swamps have mosquitos! The aircon works fine anyway. Having stayed in budget hotels in a few european cities... more
Hotel Tivoli
We visit Italy 3 or 4 times a year and plan all our trips independently - a knowledge of the language helps here, especially for Southern Italy and Sicily. We use many different hotels throughout Italy and have never had a bad one. We also are members of Agriturismo (Farm House/Agricultural Estates) which are really good value for money and get you out to the countryside and real Italy. From time to time we revisit favourite old haunts and we have just returned from a trip to Lake Garda, Greve-in-Chianti and Venice. This was our sixth visit... more
Great hotel at a great price
We really enjoyed this hotel. It is definitely a budget hotel, but I felt that we got what we paid for plus a little extra, and that's really what it's all about, isn't it? The location is good - in an area with restaurants and bars very near, away from the hustle and bustle of the grand canal, but a close walk to all of the highlights of the city (approx. 15 min walk to St. Marks Square). It is also only a 15 - 20 min walk from the bus station/train station. Once we arrived in Venice via bus from the airport, we did not get on the... more
Staying at the Tivoli over 25 years
I first stayed at the Tivoli in 1979 and on 6 return trips I have alway gone back. A wonderful family run small hotel in a great location with extremely nice host. I love having tea or wine in the courtyard. It is not fancy which appeals to me, just rather personal and genuine. Good places to eat nearby. No doubt I will never even try another hotel in Venice.
Pleasant Stay at the Tivoli, Venice
Even though it's rated as a 2 star hotel, I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious rooms and large bathrooms. The location is excellent, the street is full of snack restaurant that offer sandwiches and pizza at very reasonable prices. There are a few bars too right at the corner. The staff are very friendly and the vaporetto stop is only 5 minutes walking distance. When in Venice, I would stay there again.
