" A wonderful family hotel "

We have recently returned from the Marina Corfu on our first family holiday with my 10 month old son. I have to say, in terms of value for money you cannot complain one bit! The hotel was clean, staff were friendly and the rooms were very spacious. The food was average but we could always find something to eat each day. There were plenty of highchairs and lots of food suitable for my little boy. The entertainment was great with games to play for children and adults all day and shows every evening. The staff were brilliant with the children and worked so hard. There was a good selection of drinks at the bar, although some of the spirits tasted a bit watered down. The pool was very busy and to ensure we got sunbeds my father-in-law had to go and reserve seats from 730am and then go back with my husband to collect the sun loungers when they were unlocked at 9am.
The pool itself was really clean with a life guard on duty at all times. My only criticism was that we had carry the pushchair down a flight of steps to the pool area as the only ramp access was out of the front of the hotel and all the way around the back. The beach was quaint although it didnt appear to be overcrowded at any point during our weeks stay.
The resort of Cala Egos was loveley with a range of shops, bars and resturants although as we were all inclusive didnt eat out. We did take the train to Cala D'Or which was really good value for money and a nice afternoon out.
Overall the hotel was fantastic value for money considering how much it would have cost us to go self catering with the euro rate being so rubbish this year.

Good for: Beach

" I have just got back from here for... "

I have just got back from here for the second time. i have a 2 year old daughter that loved it as the entertainers are fantastic and they really look after you. definately go if you have children. if you want a quiet holiday i wouldnt really recommend as it is for families so full of kids!
the cleaners are in every day and are really friendly. there is only 1 grumpy member of staff behind the bar but apart from that they are really nice.
the food wasnt as good this year and my boyfriend did get a raw sausage so just check them! but cannot fault the hotel itself. Cala egos town is really small but has a selection of pubs and restaurants but you dont need to go out really!

I am definately going back again and am pining for it - please go, you will love it!

" Me the wife and 2 other family... "

Me the wife and 2 other family members went to the marina corfu on an all inclusive holiday for 1 week and did not have 1 complaint about the place . we were told that it was cala dor but actually situated in cala egos which by taxi is only 5 mins away and costs about 5 euros. The market at Felantix and Setanye are well worth a visit if you like old town spain, also at these 2 markets there are 2 very old churches which are very impressive on the inside need to see these. The market at Inca is the bigger 1 of the three but in my view when you have seen the first two thats enough really as Inca is like 2joined into 1 and its all the same. If you are going to go to inca we hired a soft top motor from round the corner of the hotel that also does good exchange rates. IT was 70 euros then 10 euros in fuel AS IT WOULD OF COST 60 EUROS IN A TAXI but we had the car from 9 till 8 that evening and took advantage of that by driving round the little villages. The area itself caters for every one theres shops and bars but a slightly bit quieter. The hotel wAS SPOTLESS AND THE STAFF THERE WERE MORE THAN HELPFULL ALL VERY WILLING TO BEND OVER BACKWARDS TO MAKE YOUR STAY COMFORTABLE. THE ENTERTAINMENT WAS EXCELLENT AND THE FOOD WAS GREAT SUCH A WIDE VARIETY AND CANNOT BE FAULTED.ROOM SERVICE WAS SECOND TO NONE WITH A MAID IN EVERY DAY MAKING BEDS AND LEAVING TOWELS. THE STAFF AT RECEPTION WERE GREAT AND SPOKE VERY GOOD ENGLISH IN FACT WE FELT A BIT IGNORRANT THAT WE COULDNT SPEAK SPANISH. BARBARA AT THE DESK WAS VERY HELPFULL AS WELL GIVING YOU TAXI PRICES AND BUS TIMES. THE HOTEL HAS ITS OWN SMALL BEACH WHICH IS ACTUALLY OWNED BY THE LOCAL COUNCIL SO YOU NEED TO PAY FOR THE LOUNGERS AT THAT BIT . THE BAR SNACKS THROUGHOUT THE DAY ARE GREAT WITH A WIDE VARIETY. WOULD GO BACK THERE TOMORROW FOR ANOTHER HOLIDAY

" This hotel CANNOT be faulted in any... "

This hotel CANNOT be faulted in any way... I travelled with my husband and 3 children aged 11....9 & 3. The children were absolutely delighted with the facilities as were my husband & I. The buffet style meals were fantastic every breakfast through to dinner with a choice to suit everyone (they also provided a special area just for the kids buffet)
The staff were great, rooms immaculate, pools were great too. But the jewel in the crown for us was the private beach.... tropical blue waters and beautiful white sand which was cleaned every night. We never had to leave the hotel ( well I did but only to buy a new handbag Hee Hee). This hotel in our opinion was so good we have already booked to return next year ( and believe me ...I am a bit of a snob when it comes to hotel quality .... I save hard all year so I like a bit of quality !!!) I personally would rate this as a 4 ****

" Just returned from Marina Corfu hotel... "

Just returned from Marina Corfu hotel and i would definatly say that with out a doubt it was the best holiday so far.

all through the holiday we did not see the kids. through the day they were in the kids club or with their new friends they met and every time we seen them they had stories to tell us about how great the kids club was!
The entertainment at night was good, the queen tribute band was a howl!
The hotels staff were very friendly and always had smiles on their faces.
The beach in the resort was beautifull but the only fault i could pick is the amount of jellyfish there were on certain days.
Bars, Restaurants and Shops were just a couple of minutes up the road and also there was a kids go-karting area which was great, we went every night after tea to put time in for the entertainment.
The rooms were spotless and the beds were very comfortable.
On Departure from the hotel the staff are very fast and efficient to organise your transport to the airport.
Food selection was awesome!

booked again to go on the 10th of august and i tell you i cant wait!

" Just spent a week in the Corfu Marina... "

Just spent a week in the Corfu Marina with 5 other members of my family ages 2-64. We found this Hotel amazing and had a fantastic holiday. The Hotel was spotless. The rooms were large enough to accomate 4 beds and again were spotless. The food quality and quantity was amazing the choice was great and there was even a childrens buffet every night. We have a fussy eater in our party and he managed to eat tremendously. I have never been in a Spanish hotel where the staff were so friendly even the bar staff. The entertainment was very good, so good that we stayed in and watched it every night , something we have never ever done before on holiday. We found plenty of room around both swimming pools and on the fantastic beach.
The kids joined in with the games when they wanted to and once again the entertainment team were amazing. We were so impressed we are going to book again for next year. When we arrived home we realised we had left our daughters teddy at the hotel, once again not a problem after emailing the hotel they located the teddy and forwarded it on to us. Last of all the nachos at the pool bar were fab.

" Just spent a week at the Marina Corfu... "

Just spent a week at the Marina Corfu and had a fantastic time . Paid for 3* and got
3*+.
The hotel was kept spotless , the staff were incredibly friendly , food was as good as I have ever had on an all inclusive basis (that includes 5* carribean).

The entertainment was great some nights and ok others but overall enjoyable.

The entertainment staff done a fantastic job with the kids .

The beach is a little pretty cove , but can be seen on many websites and brochers so its a bit pointless moaning its too small when you get back.

The sea was a little cold but you would expect that at the start of summer in May , but once your in your fine. There was jellyfish in the cove but with a snorkel and mask on you could just swim around them . Even if you get stung it dont hurt that much and a little vinager will sort it out.

The pools get busy , but to be honest I can go to my local pool any day of the week and swim but its not so easy to swim in gin clear water with fish around my way so thats what we done .

Please take a snorkel and try it out , its great fun . I didnt really understand why people were trying to save sunbeds round the pool from 7am when the beach is so close and inviting.

I watched people sitting in the rain saving spaces around the pool at 7am , they must have forgot they was on holiday.

I really could not find a fault with this hotel and its facilities , after reading some of the reviews I just wonder what people expect from a 3 star hotel , if you want 5 star then pay for 5 star.

I will be returning to this hotel .

If you are realistic in what to expect from a 3* complex you really will not be dissapointed.

Well done Marina Hotels for providng a fantastic Holiday , you all deserve a pat on the back.

" wow what a fab hotel.rooms clean an... "

wow what a fab hotel.rooms clean an spacious, beach jus lovely, staff 10 out of 10. 3 of us stayed here and all loved it. pools clean, yes probs with sun beds but same everywhere we stayed before. good selection of shops within a 5 minute walk. taxis cheap compared to uk. We loved the food and always ate plenty. absolutely loved it!The staff were busy but always eager to please you. we found the lifts were ok but even if you are on top floor the exercise will do you good.Lots for kids to do and there were a lot of them there although we went out of season. Would suggest to hotel they make the square pool for adults only and the free form one for kids. do make sure your case is NOT over weight or you will be charged by palma airport . We had a lovely view over the pool and all noise from bar ceased by 11.15, lovely to have a tv with eng progs, could still watch coronation st, brill overall have booked to go again in sept this year and cant wait.

" This is a healthy 7 out of 10.

This is a healthy 7 out of 10.
The pool areas are good for children, but get your towels on the beds early...the beach that is attached is open for the general public, was not to crowded...There is a massive screen showing british t.v all day and night in the bar area with a pool table...So if you want to get away from Eastenders and Corry then it may drive you mad...The food was not that great, fresh but a bit greasy spoon cafe style...The nightime entertainment is held out front of the rooms and is very very load until midnight, so if you have younger kids then ask for a room on the road side..There is plenty to see and do outside of the complex including a little theme park across the road that stays open until midnight...
Did enjoy it and had a great time.....Bit of advice about getting to and from the airport....Its over and hours drive through lots of roads, and would not like to have to find the hotel in a hire car....Dont get an organised taxi with your booking to the hotel as they are a rip off...Just get a taxi when you arrive as its half the price...

Do book it and enjoy

" What a wonderful hotel and pleasant... "

What a wonderful hotel and pleasant resort. We thoroughly enjoyed a family holiday at the Marina Corfu at the beginning of July 2007. Our party of 12 ranged from the age of 11 to 81.

The hotel is clean, well located with its own beach and cove and many pools (4 I think!).

Although the hotel was busy with families when we went, I wouldn't say it was too noisy or brash. The hotel is certainly more upmarket than some all inclusive hotels I have stayed at, infact overall it was the best one we have used.

We found all the staff very pleasant and helpful, especially Ramon in the restaurant. The food is excellent, especially breakfast which has a tremendous range on offer and is of a very high quality (no streaky bacon available, just lean back pieces). Some evenings, carvery meats were available including beef, pork, smoked salmon etc. Handy to know such things when you are all inclusive.

The evening entertainment was mixed, some evenings excellent and others ok but there are other areas to sit if you don't want to watch it. There was plenty of day time activities if you wanted it. The children are very well catered for.

The sunbed saga didn't actually affect us as we are not sun worshippers. When we did need sunbeds or chairs though, we generally found some. My view on this is, if people got them as and when they were going to actually sit/lay on them, there wouldn't be a shortage. The amount of unused sunbeds covered over with a towel was ridiculous.

The rooms are large with good storage. Another bonus is the fridge in the room which was a 'God send' for my elderly Dad who likes to sit on his balcony with a cup of tea. He was able to keep his milk cold.

The shops, bars, and restaurants close by are pleasant. We noticed how clean the resort was, with no load music booming out. If you like a more refined, peaceful type of location, well this is the place for you. It was a pleasure not to be surrounded by drunkard, brawling louts.

To summarise, this is the ideal hotel and location for a decent family to enjoy a pleasant holiday. Thank you Marina Corfu Hotel and Cala Eghos we will be returning, something we have never done before.

" Having recently returned from a 2... "

Having recently returned from a 2 week stay at Marina Corfu hotel I can say what a wonderful holiday my wife and I had. Unfortunately I have some criticism in relation to Direct Holidays'. Upon arrival we were off loaded at the sister hotel after midnight and had responsibility in carrying our suitcases across to the Marina Corfu. Upon registration no facilities were made available to us, albeit we were ALL INCLUSIVE, my request for certain facilities, such as water or food, was not granted and I was told by staff that any items I wanted would need to be purchased away from the hotel. Being unfamiliar to the area I believed this an unsuitable answer.

The hotel complex is without doubt excellent - I do however have a difficulty in accepting that small plastic tumbler glasses are suitable throughout both hotels, inside as well as outside near to swimming pools. I would suggest 1/2 pint glasses and 1 pint glasses be made available to adults within the bar area alone.

YES - YES - YES there is a difficulty with sun beds that are locked up until 09.00 hours each day. YES they are reserved with towels but NO management do not do anything to resolve the issue. YES they should remove towels from unattended beds.

The biggest difficulty I met was the activation of what I believe to be the 'FIRE' Alarm at 04.00 hours one morning. When a member of staff leaves reception area and attends at sister hotel to find out what to do, leaves a lot to be desired. No member of staff carried out a role call of patrons, FIRE SERVICE did not attend and all that was done was, we who had evacuated the hotel in an emergency, were told to re enter and return to our rooms. Totally unsatisfactory controlled.
All staff were found to have an excellent attitude towards visitors.

" Just back from one week at the Marina... "

Just back from one week at the Marina Corfu Hotel in Cala Egos and, thought it worth mentioning, this is a fantastic hotel if you are looking for a quiet, beach holiday.

My partner and I decided last minute to go away for a week and, wanted somewhere hot and relaxing, without having to spend half the holiday travelling - This was exactly what we were looking for.

Our flight out was actually a couple of minutes early in leaving and, we had hired a car at Palma Airport and drove 45 minutes to Cala Egos. We left Edinburgh at 3:45pm (our time), and had checked into our hotel, unpacked and gone out for dinner by 9:30pm (local time).

The Hotel was spotless and the staff were magnificent - very helpful, polite and attentive.

We both found the food selection to be okay - I'm vegetarian and they had a good enough selection to keep me going most lunch times and evenings.

The beach was beautiful - particularly on our first day and last day when the waters were absolutely crystal clear and you could see lots of different fish swimming. We spent quite a bit of time in the sea on lilo's and snorkelling which was an absolute must as it was so hot! .... The water was very pleasant and you could swim our 'float' right out to the end of the bay (watching out for the starfish boats coming in and out).

We had one day where the water was quite choppy (there had been a storm during the night), which left the water churned up and you couldn't even see your feet - unfortunately we both got stung by jellyfish which had been pushed onshore by the storm.

Anyway - all in all this was a great holiday and we would definitely go back to this hotel again!

The only small negatives we would mention are:

- There were constantly people smoking on the beach and leaving cigarette butts on the sand (disgusting).

- The evening entertainment was good a couple of nights and very poor another couple.

- Our flight home was delayed by 7.5 hors and nobody from FlyGlobespan updated us at any stage as to what was happening. I even called their British number and they told me to speak to somebody on the 'Handling Desk' in Palma Airport!

" Have just returned from a weeks stay... "

Have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. Me and hubby were having a week without the kids and were looking forward to some relaxation and peace and quiet. Well all I can say is if you want peace and quiet do not go to this hotel.

Unfortunately we had a bad start to the holiday. Palma airport was a nightmare. 2 hour wait for luggage then another 3 hours sorting out car hire.

Anyway we arrived at this hotel feeling stressed so that was a bad start.

We were on the first floor so even though we asked for a nice view was given a room where you could not really see much at all. Worst off all it was right next to the entertainment so there was lots of noise. When we asked for a room change the lady on reception was really not very helpful and told us it could take to middle of the week before they had a better room available. Hence to say we ended up staying in the room we were given.

Entertainment or music is on all day and I have to say it did irritate me after a while. Would have been lovely to sit by the pool and have peace and quiet.

The food was ok quite allot of choice but after suffering from a nasty bout of "holiday tummy" I stuck to chips.

Hotel was clean and rooms were cleaned each day but for some reason our sheets never got changed. I wasn’t happy about this as when I was ill with bad tummy I had a temperature as well and sweated lots.

All in all was ok but I would not go back to this hotel again.
