We booked a week at the Marina Corfu...
10 / 10
Oct 2006, kshimmin

We booked a week at the Marina Corfu after reading all the great reviews....... and were not disappointed!
Resort - the resort is very much a sprawling tourist resort, but this does give it the added advantage of having banks, pharmacies and supermarkets, so everything is right on the doorstep. It also has two tourist trains which take you around the resort and which our children aged 2 and 3 loved. The only problem was it was very popular in the mornings, and was sometimes already full when it arrived with us. Catch it about 4pm and it is empty!
Hotel - what can I say, the staff were all so friendly and helpful, made a fuss of the kids, greeted you with a smile and would help in any way. The room was spotless and in an excellent state of repair - we asked for a sea view and that is what we got. There are 20 steps down from the hotel and you are right on the beach. Our room was also very spacious - even with a double and two single beds there was still loads of room. There is a fridge and kettle in each room - handy for the kids milk etc.
Entertainment - typical hotel entertainment! The kids enjoyed the mini disco each evening and our 3 year old came back singing Spanish! They moved the entertainment indoors for the last couple of nights when the sister hotel Skorpios closed, and it did make it very cramped and hard to get a drink, but that is the only fault I would mention.
Food - great selection, and the only hotel I have ever stayed in which provided children’s yoghurts alongside the usual. A choice of 3/4 vegetarian meals and 3/4 meat or fish choices, loads of salad and cold pasta dishes, all very fresh and well cooked. Wine was the usual dubious on-tap stuff, but still drinkable compared to others I have tried in the past!
Facilities - there is mini golf, play area for the kids, two kids pools, two adult pools, two sunbathing areas (one upstairs by the bar and one on the beach) and a couple of bar areas. The snorkeling was fantastic - the sea is absolutely teeming with fish and when we were there two cormorants came right up to the beach edge chasing minnows - I narrowly avoided one when snorkeling as it ducked under me at the last minute!
We booked the holiday through OnTheBeach.com (OTBeach.com) and paid just £800 for the four of us all inclusive - worth every penny. We booked car hire with carrentals.co.uk and got a fantastic Citroen Berlingo with just 6000 miles for about £140 including children’s car seats for the week (worth it as a taxi will cost about £40 minimum one way from the airport)
I could not recommend this hotel more highly, whether you are traveling solo, as a couple or as a family you will be able to make your holiday just what you want.
Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic family holiday. 2 children...

Oct 2006, Mrs J Cantor

Fantastic family holiday. 2 children 9 and 7 never saw them. So much to do running from 10 in the morning straight though till midnight. We have a very active 7 yr old boy and i can honestly say he never got bored once.
Hotel we found was very clean and the staff were very friendly. All inclusive was our best option. As normal you have your breakfast, lunch and dinner but also running from 12 till 6pm you have an outside bar which you can also get burgers, chips, salads etc, etc. this was great for the kids they just went and helped themselves. Food was great wide variety of choice.
The Hotel was set on its own private beach opposite it's sister hotel Skorpias. 2 pools one for each hotel. Which i must stress that the Skorpias pool was nicer so after sitting on the beach in the morning we would retire to the pool in the afternoon. The environment we felt was very safe to let the kids go off and wonder. We never once got worried where they were.
The entertainment in the night time was not bad. We were there for 1 week and we never saw the same show twice. This was held outside near the pool bar. It was great as our balcony looked over the pool we were able to put the kids to bed and still watch the entertainment.
Overall it was a great holiday.

Absolutely fantastic! We were a large...

Oct 2006, Mr T Henry

Absolutely fantastic!
We were a large family group of 13 people spread over 5 rooms. When we arrived we asked to be moved to the pool side (better view), and were transferred the next day!
The entertainment staff were superb and couldn't do enough for you, the activities that were advertised on the board throughout the day always happened and would recommend joining in and not being shy at trying out the different things. Anything I tried always turned out to be a real laugh and in the end was really looking forward to joining in. not like me at all!
Sun beds were no problem to get, and although you can't "book" them with a towel, the people booking them were mostly Brits (yes, we did as well in case you were wondering!). The beach itself was really clean and was always raked by someone at around 7am (I watched while I drank coffee on the balcony!). There are two pools, the top pool at the Marine Corfu, and the bottom pool at the entertainment area. The top pool was mostly used by adult/teenagers while the bottom pool was better suited for playing around in, and is used for a couple of the activities. The bottom pool was under the supervision of the hotels finest employee! The lifeguard, who my wee boy pestered for the entire week, this guy taught my son to swim! What a man! Deserves a medal.
The meals were all fantastic, but look at the bottom of the dining area for the carvery. I thought there was an autopsy going on when I saw the size of the meat! All tender and cooked to perfection.
Lastly, the nightly entertainment was top notch as well. With the Beatles, Bee-Gees etc, though one night there was a parrot show where even I was rolling over when the handler was barking out the orders! The only thing that spoilt it was a little girl who appeared almost every night (after a bit of coaxing by mummy and daddy!) stealing the other kids thunder when they were receiving medals.
All in though, go here! It's great! 10/10.

Just returned from Corfu Marina after...

Sep 2006, Mr S Ross

Just returned from Corfu Marina after having 2 of the best weeks I’ve ever had on this fantastic island. The hotel was spotless, food was excellent, facilities first class and the staff among the most friendly you are ever likely to encounter. I had heard before I went that the hotel was geared towards families with young children and as we traveled with all adults was slightly worried but while there is no doubt this is a family hotel it is also great for couples.
After years of thinking holidays ended in Palma Nova or Santa Ponsa I have found a place to outdo them both Cala D’Or is stunning with plenty to do for all ages. Cala Egos where the marina is situated has good bars and restaurants although we were mostly happy in our hotel. On our first night there was a Beatles tribute band in the hotel followed later in the week by the four tops and the bee gees.
On the Thursday night we went to Bogart’s just up the road to watch another four tops tribute and without a doubt this was the best night of the holiday. This is a hotel we will all certainly be back to probably next year, if you don’t enjoy this hotel go to a caravan at home.

It was our first experience of an All...

Aug 2006, Mrs K Fisher

It was our first experience of an All Inclusive deal, so we were not that sure what to expect!
The hotel Marina Corfu is located about 10 minutes away from the main drag of Cala D'Or - in the Cala Egos area. It has since been paired up with the hotel opposite - the Skorpios. Customers are now being advised that they could be staying at either hotel, since they both share facilities.
The reception staff on arrival were very friendly and informative. The rooms were spacious compared to many family rooms we have stayed in. There was a reasonable distance between our beds (!) And there was even a sofa included. The hotel in general was very clean. The public areas were also clean and tidy. The meals were "hit or miss", but we generally found something we liked. The all inclusive package saved us a fortune on drinks and ice creams.
The entertainment staff worked really hard, bearing in mind it is an international hotel, therefore several different nationalities to accommodate. More often than not, the professional acts were very good.
The swimming pools were good, the usual sun bed scenario took place, but it was the British that were the worst offenders! However, it was usually OK to get a sun bed.
Plenty of organised activities planned throughout the day, something for everyone. The children were able to go off and play and we were reassured that they would be safe.
All in all, I would recommend the Marina Corfu to families.

Aug 2006, H Levy

Kids loved it! Food was good! Beach was lovely! Pools were clean. Rooms were clean. Entertainment not so great! Kids Club ok - but have seen better - kids did not mind though! Only real complaint is that the beds were not too comfortable but you get that anywhere.
I would definitely recommend and would even consider going back, but I would say look around at prices because we spoke to several people who had paid various prices - one couple had paid only 1800 for 2 weeks all inclusive with 2 kids.

We got moved to this hotel because...
10 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr R Crafer

We got moved to this hotel because the hotel we were staying at was horrible (blue bay hotel, Cala Mayor), and we couldn’t believe how nice this hotel was.
I went with my girlfriend, and family and my sisters little boy and it catered for everyone.
The food every night is varied we was there for 5 nights and there was different food every night and there’s so much of it. Very nice!
The staff are very friendly and will go out of there way to help you where possible. The pool is always clean and lovely. One problem is that if you want a sun bed then you have to get up and wait by the pool about 8AM .They unlock the sun beds at 9 and there is always half of the hotel waiting to get there sun beds and put their towels on. Bit annoying and sad really as everyone says its the Germans who do it, but it wasn’t it was us the English, put there towels on then go back to bed or go to breakfast, bit unfair really.
It has its own private beach which gets a little crowded but there’s plenty of room for everyone. The nightly entertainment is good, its starts about 9 and goes on till about 12.30.
There are plenty of shops within waking distance, that sell everything you want, there are a few beaches within walking distance. There are loads of bars within about 10 minutes walk, music bars etc. go to Bogarts its really good they have live bands and singers nightly.
I would highly recommend this hotel and we are going to book up to go next year. And Id say go All Inclusive and it works out cheaper.

We had a great holiday at this hotel,...

Jul 2006, Mrs T Mason

We had a great holiday at this hotel, it is in a quiet part of Cala d Egos which is next to Cala D’Or, the hotel is lovely and very clean, the staff are all really nice and very helpful. The food is average but the kids enjoyed it.
We went in the middle of July and we able to get sun loungers every day and we didn’t get up until 9ish, the hotel sit on the beach which is beautiful and not to busy plenty of sun loungers there too.
The entertainment was good, they had a kids disco at 9pm till 9.30ish every night then they has tribute bands and varied acts, the week we where there it was the Beatles the bee gees and the four tops and they were all very good. We had been informed that the bar at the entertainment area didn’t serve the all inclusive guest drinks etc but this isn’t the case anymore every bar serve you drink and food from 10am till 12am.
We had a pool view from our room which was lovely it wasn’t that noisy and I would recommend you ask for the pool view as the other side of the hotel has a rubbish view on to a road. The only think is that there is about 30 stairs down to the beach and pool from the hotel and as I had a push chair I had to walk out the front and all the way round the back about 10mins it took, but I would def return to the hotel,
I would recommend it to anybody with a family great for kids, they get as much juice and ice cream and ice lollies as they want and doesn’t cost you anything. Out side the hotel there is a square with some bars and restaurants we went out one night again it wasn’t that busy plenty of seats and most of the bars have acts on we went to Yates and saw a man called Charles he was really good.
It cost 5 euro for a taxis into Cala D’Or well worth a visit. We took the wee train in the kids loved it. I have no complaints I’m trying to book again for next year.

We were booked into the Marina...
7 / 10
Jul 2006, Ms V Redbourn

We were booked into the Marina Skopios, but when we arrived found the hotel closed and just a note on the door to go to their sister hotel on the other side of the cove, very alarming when you have a baby and 6 year old.
The hotel was very clean 10+ but everything had been scaled down as far as entertainment went and most things advertised on the board never happened, it was all a bit hit and miss. Both hotels are advertised as family friendly, but there are lots of steps and it's virtually impossible to get in the lifts.
Talking to other people who had visited before, these hotels were not what they use to be and the Skopios was closed due to not enough bookings, but full services should have been offer. We also had to pay to be upgrade to all-inclusive, big rip-off. And staffs attitude was take it leave it. Food was not great, all the meat was overcooked and they had some very strange ideas when it comes to salads, the restaurant floor was very slippery everyone was complaining and a few people actually fell over.
We did enjoy our holiday, but it could have been a lot better, it did not live up to the reviews I had read for previous years.

We have just returned from the Marina...
10 / 10
Jul 2006, Ms J Shankara

We have just returned from the Marina Skorpios Hotel in Cala Egos. I must say that Palma airport is huge! Lots of escalators to help you walking along the route. The duty free shops are up stairs, and the Spanish staff were very helpful and give you clear directions to get to departure lounge, the Luggage collection was very quick.
We arrived after midnight, no welcoming food or drink, only one man on reception, we got to our room fast as we were only people arriving that night. Could take longer if more people arrive at same time. Hire a safe key. And borrow an adaptor for appliances.
The hotel accommodation was excellent it was extremely clean and fully air con, (Controllable in your room). We had a room overlooking the beach and sea great view, evening entertainment from Corfu Hotel meant it was noisy until after 11.00 p.m. but use ear plugs no problems then.
The maids changed towels every day and made the room up, the beds were comfortable and sheets soft, very thin long pillows. A complementary kettle was useful for making a drink, be warned the tap water is salty so use only bottled water only, tea coffee does not taste like ours, have the peppermint tea, refreshing.
If you ask in reception they have an adaptor for electrical appliances if you don't bring one with you. TV has sky sport ITV and BBC1 & others not English. We found out on last day you could up-graded from half board to all inclusive for 8 euros a day PP at the Corfu Hotel which is all inclusive.
There was a choice of food for both meals breakfast cereal, fruit yoghurt bread, cheese, and evening meal soup, salad and meat, fish, different potatoes veg etc. A children's menu some vegetarian choice more in the Corfu Hotel. We struggled some days for main meal, try the orange juice and chocolate custard! mmm
The staff were all friendly and some spoke good English, like Natalie in the restaurant and the Polish bar girl and also at reception. The beach was cleaned every day sea was turquoise, clear and warm slightly salty, Some jelly fish activity in deeper waters so watch out for them. Plenty of fish to look at so buy a snorkel and a lilo its, worth it to paddle out and lie on. Look up "Floating hammock" pop up minimal inflation and fits easily into luggage.
The pool areas are nice, larger one has snack bar and loos, smaller pool is the warmest and has a better shower. They were both busy and people put towels down early morning to reserving loungers even though it is stated in Hotel RULES not to do so. Hire loungers on the beach 4 euros, a Spanish man comes round the beach selling fresh melon pineapple and coconuts, a bit expensive, though refreshing. Watch out for girls selling sarongs and skirts and tops 15 euros, cheaper at boutique I mention in Cala Egos.
Have your hair braided 10 euros for half head.
The hotel was quiet during our stay and most of the entertainment and children's activities were over at the sister hotel The Marina Corfu. This did not bother much with it, as we went into Cala Egos to the many bars and restaurant. The bar in hotel is a little expensive and on half board you do not get a drink of any kind with your meal unless you buy it.
A mention for Skooby -Doos cheap booze big screen TV English run. Smugglers Bar in the Marina , the interior was done out like a smugglers cave, air con. Terrace highly recommended bar staff very friendly. Best gift shop Terra Bona Comercos directions from hotel, as you are walking to the shops after roundabout , it is 1st left on the corner. The best prices for wrap around Sarongs etc.-small gifts, beach towels very good choice and prices.
There are many excursions available from caves to markets, I would recommend a boat trip 18 euros 10 for kids book either at reception or as you go on board, use the slide and swim from the boat. leaves from the bay at various times. Well worth the money.
The Cala D'or express train costs 3 euros return giving you a small local tour, it can get full especially on cloudy days! alternative local bus service or taxi hotel reception will book one for you very quickly! Cala Egos is great to walk around you feel quite safe, not many night club bars like in Cala D’Or. I recommend Cala Esmeralda beach, and Cala Ferrera as well as the Natural Park de Mondrago beach. Watch out, the sea is very salty here, water warm and clear.
The reps have different days to visit the hotel, so look in tour operator folders in reception for info. Also the week’s weather forecast is in a folder on reception desk+ other useful info. We did not book a late check-out as the hotel has a luggage room and a room is available to shower and freshen up in before your late flight home.

We were lucky staying 21-27th June a week before high season starts it was not over run with people about a quarter full may be at a guess, I can imagine the hotel could become busy like the Marina Corfu later on in the Season. and every thing would change but for us everything was just right a fantastic holiday and all in all I would give it 10 out of 10 a good family and couples younger couples may want better night life though.

This must be our best holiday ever....

May 2006, knaphill

This must be our best holiday ever. The hotel was spotless the food wonderful with so much choice, the staff couldn’t do enough for you. I don’t normally reply to these sort of surveys but felt I had to tell everyone how wonderful this hotel is.
The setting is superb the entertainment so, so. The little village Cala Egos 2mins out of the hotel, is typical seasidy! I cannot fault this holiday. If you are looking for a clean, good food, and lovely surroundings, look no further than this hotel or its sister across the bay Hotel Skorpios.
I have read reviews like this and thought, "He's easily pleased," far from it, this is why I am surprising those that know me, for singing the praises of this hotel and resort. Go, you'll love it.

Marina Corfu is situated in Cala Egos...
8 / 10
Jan 2006, pat wright

Marina Corfu is situated in Cala Egos and is a taxi ride away from Cala d'Or itself which is a very cosmopolitan area suitable for all tastes.
The hotel is in a beautiful location, directly on the beach but I must mention that several children were stung by jelly fish during the 10 days that we were there, also, raw sewage was swept onto the beach several times during our stay, not very pleasant to say the least! Mostly though, the sea was clear, warm and jelly fish free!
The hotel itself was very nice though the steps down to the pool area were a problem for buggies and wheelchair users, the alternative being to go out the front and all the way around! The area used for evening entertainment was tiny, and the actual entertainment very poor, resulting in most of our party seeking entertainment up the road in the town (5mins walk). This was disappointing as we had paid All-Inclusive, but there was nothing to stay in the hotel for at night!
To be fair, we were there at the beginning of the season, so hopefully, the reps managed to get their acts together later on. There is a large stage and seating area to the right of the pools, with a pay bar where presumably most of the entertainment takes place in high season. But it is too far, down a lot of steps too, to carry your drinks if you are All-Inclusive. By the time you sat down, little would be left in the plastic glass, and you would have to go all the way back again!
The children’s club was across the beach at the sister hotel, and during one session, my 5year old Grandson was allowed to return, alone, to our hotel for a change of clothes!!! Completely unacceptable. Also, the kids club cost 5euros per session. So if you have a couple of kids, and they want to go morning and afternoon, it can turn out to be very pricey!
The food, however, could not be faulted. The breakfast was the best I have ever had anywhere, and the black pudding is gorgeous!! So, good and bad really. Its such a shame that certain things let down what could be a truly fantastic holiday.
