Wildner Hotel

First Time to Venice with the entire family. After much debate, decided to splurge on the lagoon view. A lot more expensive, but a good choice and well worth it. It was fun waking up early in the am, seeing the near-empty Riva degli Schiavoni with the San Giorgio Maggiore church in the background across the San Marco Canal. We stayed this past weekend (Fourth of July weekend) at the Hotel Pensione Wildner based on the reviews here on Trip Advisor and were certainly not disappointed. This bed and breakfast is quaint, clean and comfortable and we couldn't recommend it more! Located on the Grand Canal only a few blocks from St. Mark's Square, it's a perfect location to enjoy a true Venice experience. Stayed there during last 2 days of May with 2 friends. It was our 1st time in Italy. Payed 150 euros/night for a triple room. Hotel positioned in a very good location, 5 min from P. San Marco. Very nice and modern rooms. There was TV in the room, along with a phone. Manager Elizabetta was very helpful, as far as which waterboats to take to get to a specific place. Breakfast was included, but not very fillling. Liked hotel a lot. Would stay there again.

I have a love - hate relationship with this hotel. I love it so much I hate to tell you about it for fear it will be full when I return. Had room 25 from March 7 to 10, during the 24 hour water bus strike. Every good thing that you read about this place is true. Just returned from Italy. Stayed at the Wildner March 6-9, 2005. Loved this hotel. After traveling all day to get to Venice, it was great to see the Hotel Wildner from the water taxi and to see what a short walk it was. We stayed in Room 16 because of a recommendation from another traveler on trip advisor and it was everything they said. The view was wonderful. My husband and i ended our 10 day tour or italy at the Wildner. Friendly staff, GREAT LOCATION, comfortable beds and great showers. The hotel is very easy to find with the water bus. Trust me some hotels are so hard to find in Venice. This place couldn't have been in a better place. Right by San Marco, the water buses, shopping, ristorantes. Great place to stay. I have stayed at the Pensione Wildner on 3 occasions now and it is in the most amazing location near the Bridge of Sighs with beautiful views across to St Giorgio. The rooms are very comfortable, not all of course with a lagoon view as some are located at the back of the hotel. The staff have always been very welcoming. What is special are the breakfasts served in the restaurant at the front of the hotel and from early so you can make the most of your day sightseeing. If you want a great view of Venice shared by top hotels such as Danieli, this is a top choice. We went in the Spring of 2002 and paid about $168 a night. The room was pretty decent in size and decor. But what makes this hotel a great value is the location and the view. Disregard the earlier review suggesting that the hotel is on Lido. It is not. It is a short stroll from St. Mark's Square.

We stayed at the Hotel Wildner in April 2003. We arrived with terrential rain and were soaked. The staff there were very helpful and got us settled quickly. Our reservation for a specific room was all in order. The room decor was just ok, the bathroom up-to-date, however the view from the room was spectacular. The location is the best. You are on the same street with all the exclusive hotels paying only a fraction of what they are paying and having the same beautiful view.
