Great value and a welcome escape from Venetian crowds
from JMHSwitzerland
We enjoyed a 4 day stay at Villa Albertina in May 2008. From the initial (personalized) email contact through to the check out, we felt that we were well received and taken care of. We got about what we expected from the reviews on TripAdvisor, and we felt a comment here was warranted to thank Villa Albertina for helping us balance out our trip to Venice. Overall, a good experience with no problems to speak of. Pros: good value (really enjoyed being away from the Venice crowds, and the short Vaperetto trip to Lido twice a day was a...

Sun, beach and city life!
from PAJohns1
The Villa Albertina is a wonderful place to stay!!! Combine beach and citylife on the same day! First of all: the heavy tourism makes Venice a crowded place. You walk among tourists from all over the world and it's hard to sense the italian way of life in Venice. That's exactly why you should choose to stay on the island of Lido! Lido is only a very short boat trip away from St Marks square and the boats depart frequently all day and night. Coming from the city and all the tourist, it's wonderful and relaxing to walk down the...

A Wonderful Experience
from picafam
Just returned from a 5 day visit to Venice and the beautiful Villa Albertina. The accommodations were extremely clean and comfortable and the breakfast each morning was a delicious way to start our day. While the hotel is not on the mainland, Lido is a short (10 - 12 minute) Vaporetto ride away from Piazza San Marco. Using the Vaporetto proved to be very convenient and purchasing the "Rolling Venice" card saved us money on the 72 hr. pass. Be sure to ask about the Casanova Suite when booking your stay. The room was large and the marble...

A wonderful alternative
from WriterJohn
I've stayed here several times, including a two-month stretch seven years ago. Most recent visit was in fall 2006, Plus, I've referred at least five couples to this hotel and all feel the same as I do: It's a wonderful property for the price. The only questionable room could be the one on the main floor, steps away from the reception desk. (I've never stayed in this one.) The multilingual hosts are friendly and helpful, the breakfast is sufficient, the rooms are clean and, three years or so ago, newly remodeled. The Lido is a residential...

Very Unromantic!
from funkymoomin
We were extremely disappointed with our stay at Villa Albertina, especially as the photographs of the exterior looked so nice! Our room was about 4 steps from reception on the ground floor, our room looked like someone's Grandma's room (terrible bedclothes and awful paintings) and we had curtains that resembled cling film. Not so bad if we weren't overlooking the car park, but consequently whenever we had our lights on anyone entering or leaving the hotel could see straight in on us. When we turned the lights off to get some privacy but had...

Wonderful Italy
from jolly25
In November we started an one week trip to Lido di Venezia. We arrived at Villa Albertina with 20 people and a lot of interrest for Italy. In Villa Albertina we found nice rooms, big bathrooms with hot water and a very nice place in the courtyard, where we spent many evenings and even nights (the weather was very kind with us :) The owner of the Villa Albertina was incredibly nice, she gave us maps from Venice and also advices about what we should see and where we should eat the best italian specialites. I highly...

Worst Hotel I have ever stayed in
from edaly
This is by far and above the worst hotel I have ever been in. If you are considering booking this hotel, STOP NOW! The staff are unfriendly and dirty, the beds are almost unusable, the bug problem is huge, the location is a disaster and Lido has all the charm of a sewer. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon and all we did for our time there was gripe about this awful hotel. It is such a shame that the other reviews of this hotel are so misleading. If I knew then what I know now, I would have this hotel carpet bombed rather...

Perfect!!!
from mikefellows
It was our first holiday away together, I booked it as a surprise for my girlfriend, pretty last minute - and she loved every second! The location was great - not too close to the city, but not so far that we couldn't walk to the waterbus though, the room was clean, the breakfast was lovely, the staff were very friendly and it was just what we were looking for. We'll definitely be back, as soon as our litte one's learnt to walk properly! Thanks for a great stay!
Excellent! Friendly, at home atmosphere
from MichiganTraveller
We stayed at Villa Albertina five nights and did not have one bad experience during our stay. The room was quiet and extremely clean, the bed was excellent and, the towel warmers were delightful, so my wife says. Breakfast was continental style and did the job. Our room was on the second floor and had a small usable balcony. In fact, our room was next to the room in the picture with the balcony (left side of picture). Villa Albertina is very well maintained. We encountered no language barriers during our pre-planning or while...

Bug Haven
from A TripAdvisor Member
To be fair, the breakfast in this hotel was much more enjoyable than the usual crossaint and tea that the other hotels in italy provided. However, the aftermath of staying in this place was terrible. Three out of four of our group suffered from extensive bed bugs bites after our stay there (and this hotel is rated 2 star on lido island!) Perhaps also because we were allocated a basement room, there were bugs crawling on the walls and even on the sheets. The toilet was clean and spacious, but the bites made staying there not worth it at all....
