Pantalon Hotel

Besides a good location (once you learn how to find it), little else to recommend. No shower curtain, drain was clogged until we asked that it be cleaned out. Rate jumped to 190 euros on weekend. Pay in advance or they'll mark up your credit card payment. Livio fixed our electrical adapter. Cafe Blue a few paces away had free wi-fi. The female bartender can recommend a good gelato location. The bakery next door to the cafe had excellent pastries.

This hotel is situated in a great location. Its in Venice and not far from all the major sites. However, it is espescically nice because when you've braved the packed tourist filled streets around the main attractions your only a 10 minute walk to your hotel where you can sit on a nice patio restaurant for a drink and some food without the hustle and bustle. We stayed for three nights in March of 2007, and found this to be our least favorite Italian hotel. We had to ask to be moved out of an extremely small room (they did, but not until the next morning), and into a more suitable room. However, the beds are not that comfortable; the woman serving breakfast was unpleasant; no-one helped us with our bags when we arrived (there are stairs and no lift); and the desk captains acted bored and annoyed with questions. The good: front desk personnel, clean, and quiet (on back). The not-so-good: difficult to find and very small room (about 10 X 10).

A nice hotel run by helpful friendly people. Breakfast a little basic but adequate. Rooms small but arent they all in venice? Air-con in rooms a god send. Hotel is easy to find if you get hold of map off official hotel website before travel. 2-3mins walk from S.Toma boat stop, 10mins walk from Rialto bridge.

We were pleasantly suprised by this hotel. It's tucked away in the Dorsoduro district, and the area feels alot more "authentic" than the rest of tourist-packed Venice. We stayed in May 2006. It was close to some fun bars and unique shops and restaurants. The people who worked there were very sweet and accomodating. The hallway was kind of smelly, but that was the only problem. The hotel is on a small street (aren't they all) in the student area of Venice. It is close by the water bus stop S. Tomas. I got a triple for my two sons and myself. Airconditioned but no wifi/internet. I find that all the Venetians seem to under-estimate walking times. We walked from the Piazzale Roma (the main bus stop) to the hotel with 3 pieces of heavy luggage. It was only supposed to be a 5 minute walk (from the pantalon website). My wife and I just got back from our trip to Italy (First trip to Europe). We stayed 2 nights in the Pantalon Hotel. This was part of a package deal. We arrived via train to the main station. We took a Vaperto to the San Toma stop. This is best way to get to the hotel. It is pretty cheap 5 euro each and you get a great welcoming view of the grand canal. We really enjoyed our stay at the Pantalon. The staff was very helpful and most spoke very good English. The rooms, like most in Italy, were modest - small, and the beds weren't the best. It was a pretty standard room - clean, and decorated nicely. You also hear the church bells from 7am - around 9pm, which serve as a charming alarm. Very nice staff. Good area around the university a lot of young people and some good bars and restaurants. The rooms are very small, the walls are thin and it is very noisy at night. Overall, we loved Venice and the hotel worked fine for us.
