Alle Guglie Hotel

This place had good and bad points. The front reception staff were very wecoming and helpful. The wall paper and floors were very Venitian. It is quite a walk to San Marco which can be tiring, so unless the train station is important to you, then I don't see why it is considered by some a good location. That said, Ponte Guglie vaporetto stop is around the corner. Be we chose to walk everywhere. Excellent geographic position: close to main railway station (15 minutes walking distance); 50 meters to nearest vaporetto stop. Tidy and reliable; in situation of need helpful assistance given. Breakfast could be more fanciful, but stands to average expectation. Altogether: worth a visit! Happily again!!

The hotel looks very sweet on it's homepage. The location is good, near the trainstation. The rooms are clean and the wallpaper is lovely but having the dinning room next door with a coffeemachine that is noisy, it wasn't the best choice...especially at eight o'clock! Having previousley stayed at the hotel and enjoyed the warm reception and relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. We have recommended it to friends and relatives. Upon deciding to go to Venice for Christmas we did not hesitate in contacting the Alle Guglie hotel for availability, from the 24th to the 27th December, also enquring regarding restaurants open Christmas Day & Boxing Day. We booked this hotel 3 weeks before we got to Venice and specifically ask for a twin room. When we got there, the stuck us in a room at the very top. When we entered, we found that it was a double room. We complained to the front desk and not only was she not helpful, she was rude. we requested for another room even if we had to pay extra but she refused to accommodate. We ended up cancelling; as paying customers, we did not need that kind of treatment. We ended up finding a much friendlier accommodation around the same area.

My wife and I stayed at Guglie for 3 nights. Like a lot of Venice hotels, this one is dark and a little depressing. Also, the shower kept flooding and there are sudden bursts of hot water that was quite annoying. We do like the location as it was a short walk from the train station. I think if this is a first trip to Venice, this would be a OK place to stay at. However, if we go again, we'll probably stay a little further out where accomodations are nicer and more reasonable priced.

Just back from 4 days in Venice at the Alle Hotel Guglie. Great location a bit away from the overly tourist areas, but easy enough to get anywhere in Venice. The reception staff where extremely helpful and friendly and always greeted us with smiles. No real problems with the hotel and our room was on the top floor. Have just returned from a very short but very sweet visit to Venice. Hotel Alle Guglie very near to railway station and fine apart from the size of the room - avoid room 21 it's tiny! Staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast satisfactory but not exciting. Overall no complaints. We dined at "Al nono risorto" which was great. We stayed at this hotel for my birthday for three nights. We found it very easily, it being close to a water bus stop, to the railway station and to the bus station. We were a little disappointed at first with the size of the room (No.21), in fact it was the smallest hotel room we have ever stayed in but it did contain everything that we needed for a short stay. This hotel is in an excellent location. It is very close to the train station and great shops. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly from the time we got into the hotel to the day we left. They helped in recommending a place to take our gondola ride, which turned out to be fantastic. Our room was very comfy and had been well decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay here again!
