La Meridiana Hotel

We just stayed 5 nights at the Meridiana in Lido di Venezia. I would recommend for everyone staying more than one night in Venice to stay at th Lido, the hotels are 20-50% cheaper and it is only a 15 minute boat ride from Piazza San Marco, 24h a day, with a maximum waiting time of 30 minutes in the middle of the night (during daytime it is 5-10 minutes) The Meridiana is in a good location if you want to stay in a quiet hotel, or spend time at the beach, it is literally 50m from the closest. Just returned from La meridiana. very pleased with hotel, clean rooms with aircon. We had a triple room which consisted of 1 twin and a single in a seperate room and a good size bathroom. Breakfast was adequate, would have liked some fresh fruit though. 10 min walk from water boats to venice, this time of year very crowded though. Some nice restarants around, had the best mushroom lasagne at one (can't remember name but it was at the top of the elizabetta road on the left - all outdoor). Stayed here for 5 days with family of four. The hotel was very nice. The room was a triple room with an extra single bed in it. Our rooms consisted of a large main bedroom, bathroom and small single room. We managed to move the extra bed into the single room and enjoyed the main room all to the adults. I think if the hotel used bunk style beds in the single room it would have been perfect for a family of four. The breakfast was good, typical cold meat, ham, cereal, juice and bread. Very pleasant hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Venice. Clean and comfortable rooms. Very satisfactory breakfast. Safe neighbourhood with restaurants nearby.

First thing i could say about La Meridiana: Wonderful! I went last week to Venice and booked through venere my hotel. I booked 5 nights for a double room (80Euro/night). Price is really cheap compared to other hotels in venice. Rooms are very clean and also the bathrooms are great. Staff is helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is very nice and complete. I stayed 3 nights here on Lido at the La Meridiana. They service was great, the breakast was good, the location... not too bad (close to the beach). But the rooms were stark and small. It was clean too! If your single or double and you need to save money, plus you don't mind ... less is more, GO FOR IT! HOWEVER, It does take 1/2 an hour or longer to get to the train or bus stations. Long Vaperetto rides. (NICE in summer but crowded). Fantastic place to be when Italy won the World Championship!

I just spent 2 weeks travelling all over Italy and this was the first hotel in which I stayed. It was fairly easy to find and the gentleman at the front desk was very friendly. When I asked about the "private boat to Murano", he said that it would need to be booked a day in advance. When I asked him if I could go that afternoon, he made some calls and reserved a boat and tour just for me! I felt like a celebrity. This is an inviting little hotel especially from the outside--lots of big trees, pleasant landscaping and a lovely al fresco dining area. It has some decent character to it with large shuttered windows that open onto the fairly quiet street and garden areas. I think it would be a pleasant stay in good weather but unfortunately it rained the four days we spent in Venice and there was no heat. I echo all of the previous traveller's comments. Staying at the La Meridiana was a wonderful treat. Lido is a wonderful place to stay in Venice, with beaches just minutes away, wonderful restaurants in the central area (by the docks). It even has canals of its own. Our stay at La Meridiana was positive right from the start. Hotel staff immediately grabbed my wife's bag and helped us get to our room. Cute boutique hotel worth the 60 euro paid...located on the Lido (island), about 20 minute ferry ride from the Realto, maybe 45 min from the Tronchetto (main parking garage). After reaching the Lido by ferry its about a 10-15 min walk or a 3-5 min cab ride (if its not too late, I would walk, the cab ride was expensive- we came in at almost 1 am) In my opinion, very desent and quaint.
