Brilliant Place to Stay
from KMitford
We stayed from 29 July-1 August 2004. My boyfriend booked the hotel and I was a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews on tripadvisor. However, I thought it was wonderful. We had a great room that had a 'small' view over the Grand Canal. The location was great - I think we saw more different areas of Venice that we wouldn't have seen if we had stayed around San Marco. The walk through San Polo to the Rialto bridge was wonderful as the streets are so much quieter. The hotel room was beautifully decorated and our TV worked fine!! I would recommend it to anyone, especially if flying Ryanair as it is so close to where the bus drops you off from Treviso so no need to try and attempt to use the Vaparetto or get stung by a water taxi in your first five minutes.
Excellent Hotel. Really good Location....

Read reviews about staying byt he train station and was nervous. There is no need. We did not here a train at all. We did however hear church bells at 7am which we actually liked because it helped us get up and out a bit earlier. The location is perfect. a 5 minute walk from where you park your car in the main garage in Venice. It wasn't clear to me that I had to park in the garage at first. I thought since trains could come on the island to the stazzione and get close to the hotel i thought I could drive to the hotel. You have to park in the garage. Hotel is a 15 minute walk to Rialto and 20 to Sann Marco. We felt extremely safe and enjoyed the walks through the small streets to the sites, even in the evenings. We had a suite which had an American sized bathroom with full sized tub which always isn't the case in the large cities of Europe. Room was extremely elegant with fabric on the walls. Only neg was the TV didn't work very well. CNN was really fuzzy, but you really shouldn't be watching TV in Venice anyway... The staff was very frendly and gave excellent restaurant recommendations. I would highly recommend and plan on staying there in the future.
Great visit - thanks to trip advisor!!!

we visited here at the end of may, 2004. i had booked the room thru priceline and shortly thereafter read the rollercoaster reviews on tripadvisor.com and was scared. the previous reviewer seems to have 'broken the code' here and i can not thank them enough. based on their recommendation i asked for rooms located by the elevator near the dining room. i did this via a respectful email explaining my concerns and asking for their assistance with the location. we received what we asked for. the rooms were beautiful!!! well appointed and very large. there was not an appreciable view but it was very quiet, bright and airy. the location was only steps away from the train station. the breakfast was very acceptable. the staff was very helpful. they spoke good english and they stored our bags prior to and after our checkout. my only advice is to not take the concierge's advice and accept the booking to the murano glass works unless you really want to buy some obscenely expensive glass. the tour is really only a prelude to a pretty intensive sales pitch of products which we found at much better prices elsewhere in venice. if God blesses me with a return visit to venice i will request the same rooms and i will stay at this hotel.
A hotel of two halves, make sure you get the right one!

stayed as part of our honeymoon and initally we were devestated. The room (at the front of the Hotel) was poor, peeling ceilings, TV and Internet not working, Shower was either Very Hot or cold, nothing inbetween and a small room. Air con didn't work either. So,,,,we complained and complained and wanted our moneyback or a discount or moved (which they said they couldnt do). Interestingly we bumped into someone else with the same problem and we both discovered we book rooms on the net and hard to pay full before hand! Anyway, upon returning from a meal that evening, the receptionist (who was very helpful) moved and upgaded us to a much better room, which was fully functional, only dresser area and just SO much better. It appears that the rooms access by the lift by the dinning room are much better. Only eat Breakfast there, which was Contintental, but very good, so we saw both sides to the hotel, probably why theres such a vairation in reviews. Away from the main attractions, but right by a Vaparetto stop so its not a real problem
A disappointment

I was booked from April 27 through the 30, stayed for one one noisy, hot night and moved to Il Palazzo. We repeatedly asked to have the air conditioner turned on and was told that it would happen. Rooms were too tiny also. Hotel staff not particularly helpful. The location is unfortunate as it is on a busy(!) street.
Good Hotel, Great Location

My husband and I stayed between 13th-16th April for our 14th Wedding Anniversary. We found the hotel to be very good, although we did not use all the facilities. Breakfast was not included so we visited the Brek bar a couple of doors down, which was excellent. Our room was at the side of the hotel, which has already been stated was a litle noisy with people walking past, but it was those church bells ringing at 7.15 am that really woke us with a start!! The room itself was small, but clean and had all the amenities needed - we didn't try to use the TV, as being in the most beautiful and romantic city in the world, we didn't feel the need to stay in and watch it!! We would definitiely stay there again, as location wise it could not be better, the train, bus and vaporetto stations are all very nearby, as are shops, restaurants and many lovely and historic churches and palaces etc - visit soon if you can!
Not perfect, but would return

Anxious, having read some of the recent reviews on the Boscolo Bellini Hotel, that our stay at this hotel was not going to be as good as we had hoped for, we arrived fearing the worse. Although our stay was not without event, the hotel was worth what we paid (£100 per night for a double room). According to the room plan, all of the rooms on the second floor were of a similar size. This was adequate but not over generous. Most rooms had a bath with shower, but ours only had a shower. Unfortunately the support for the shower head did not support the shower head properly so we found it best the hold the shower head with one hand. This was fixed after reporting it, but it still wasn't ideal. My advice is to check on arrival that if you want one, your room has a bath. There was not a spare toilet roll in the room and the existing one was only replaced when empty. Again, my advice is to remove the toilet roll after the first night so that the maids replace it, that way you will always then have a spare. The rooms were decorated to a good standard, the walls were well insulated so that you could not hear other guests and the beds perfectly acceptable. Breakfast was good, with a good range of hot and cold food. Yes, the waiting staff did not promptly remove the dirty plates between courses, but that was not a problem. Although the hotel was full, the tables were quickly cleared when the guests had finished. All the staff at the hotel were polite, courteous and pleasant. On the penultimate morning of our stay the electricity went off in the area of the hotel in which our room was. The manager was as helpful as he could be, but could not say when the power would return or if it would happen again, as everything was controlled by a computer and that was being problematic. We chose to be moved to the nearby Amadeus hotel, another 4 star hotel. Our room was bigger, with a bath, but the walls were paper-thin, the beds harder, as were the pillows, and breakfast was not quite as good. I preferred the Bellini and would go back there again if we ever return to Venice.
an average place to stay

We went to the venice for my boyfriends 30th birthday. The room was average size but there were things straightaway that niggled us. The tv did not work at all for our stay (something to do with the outside aerial) and although I had asked for a nice view we had a brick wall staring us in the face. We did not complain. The bathroom was very spacious with very nice fittings.Breakfast was nicely served and we were attended to well. The reception staff were generally nice although we were charged for breakfast when we had been told it was free. They did not apologise when this was rectified but talked to each other about our booking rates and how we had got a good deal whch I thought was very rude. The hotel lobby was very nice and the location brilliant. I would reccommend for a business trip or a one night stay.
Delighted with this hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband stayed in this hotel March 5-8, 2004 and were delighted with it. Our room was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The room was small(as our most hotels I have stayed in when travelling abroad. Hotels in Europe are very different from those in the US) but clean and comfortable. All lighting in the room was Murano glass. Hotel was extremely convenient being so close to the train station and the vaporetto was located just outside the front door. We also found many good restaurants just a short walk from the hotel. We found the breakfast to be very good and were extremely pleased with all the staff at the hotel. We found them all to be very friendly and acommodating. Our only complaint would be the noise level from the outside. Our room overlooked a walkway to another hotel and we could here roller bags being pulled early in the morning. I would be very happy to stay in this hotel again and would recommend it.
Poor 4*
from Pete40
We stayed here from the 21st-24th March 2004. Our first impressions were good, excellent location for train, bus stations and vaporetti. However once in our room,#230, things were very poor for what is sold as a quality hotel. The room had obviously had a water leak from above at sometime. This had resulted in water stains on the fabric wall coverings and peeling wall paper on the ceiling. There were also other dubious stains on the curtains, and around the headboard of the bed. Large, clean comfortable bed but not the double we had expected, as it was 2 singles pushed together. The bathroom was clean, but showing signs of age. The shower hose was worn, and this burst on the 3rd day. This problem was fixed but not until the following day after we had already waited half the morning for the bath to fill! Breakfast was ok, but staff were very slow to clear plates between courses. When asked they were attentive, but certainly need practice with customer care. In hindsight we should have complained on arrival, but having paid half the normal rate we felt that we were not in a very strong position to do so. However, I feel the standard of service and condition of room in a 4* hotel should not fall to the low level we experienced no matter how much was paid. I would certainly not recommend or stay in this hotel again.
