Myself and my husband stayed in this hotel on the weekend of 26th-28th June 2004, the hotel has recently been refurbished and provides a very convenient base for exploring Venice as it’s ideally situated 2 mins walk from St Marks square, but just one word of warning, as... more

A little gem
We visited the Monte Carlo for 2 nights at the end of April 2004 and it was fantastic. The staff are so friendly and the rooms decorated in typical venetian style. The bathroom was a bit small, but hey, how much time do you spend in the bathroom? The hotel was well appointed just off St Marks Square and it meant that you could always find your way home. I would definitely go back to Venice again and go back to this hotel too. It was a big surprise just how hot it was when we arrived, we had only brought with us thin jerseys but they were simply too warm and we had to go out and buy t-shirts!!
Fabulous Darling Hotel
We just returned yesterday and this Hotel was so very wonderful I had to immediately write a review. One block from San Marco square, perfect quiet location. Lovely, lovely room. Large, beautifully appointed... wonderful breakfast with great cappachino. Great area to walk in. It just could not have been better. Just remember that the square does flood. Make sure you do not arrive during the one hour ....twice a day that happened (high tide and unseasonal rain) or you will be sharing a ramp with your luggage and thousands of others. We would definitely return and stay in the same hotel. The staff could not have done a better job nor could the room or anywhere in the hotel be any cleaner than it was! A must stay hotel!
Great Location , Great Stay!
We stayed here in April 2004 and loved the location. They say it's easy to get lost in Venice but the hotel was always easy to come back to since it's just steps away from St Mark's! The room we stayed in was compact but not uncomfortably so. The breakfast was probably the best we had compared to all the other hotels we stayed in Italy. They serve hot dishes in addition to the standard croissants and cereal. It was definitely an enjoyable stay!
Loved it! Excellent!
This hotel was unbelievable! We loved it there! When we walked in the room, I felt like a Queen. It was decorated beautifully and was gorgeous in our opinions! The bathroom was huge, even bigger than US bathrooms. It was so neat, clean and just felt very nice to be in. The people were helpful, breakfast was excellent, and it is a great location. Just a tip though: we decided to go to Venice last minute so we booked it once we got there. We paid 200 Euros for one night, so book in advance. We had no choice, because we wanted something clean and close. It seemed like a lot of money, but we were happy in the end that we did it! Definitely a great choice! You will love it!
Very pleased!
We spent six nights at this hotel mid-March and found the location to be excellent (just off of St. Mark's Square), the staff to be very friendly and efficient, and breakfasts very good with a good variety of hot and cold dishes. The lobby was nice and the room was adequate in size (for the 2 of us) and very clean. The bathroom appeared to be newly remodeled and the shower was excellent with plenty of hot water, though the stall was very small and reminded me of a cruise ship shower. In summary, I recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.
great location, wonderful breakfasts
Loved the Montecarlo. The location is great. We had a pretty room with a comfortable king bed and a Mureno glass chandelier. The bathroom was large, even by US standards. We loved the breakfasts. Besides the expected rolls, cheese and meats, they served juices, delicious scrambled eggs and various cold cereals. Best of all was the espresso and coffee brought to the table accompanied by a pitcher of frothed milk?..delicious!
good value in central venice
this hotel is very conveniently located just a few minutes walk from st marks square.it is small, quiet and friendly. the breakfasts were good. our room was "compact" and spotlessly clean. we stayed here for 4 nights at the end of feb 2004. i would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a centrally located place to stay that is good value for money.
Location, Location.
Four Night Stay. March 8th 2004. Compared to the rooms in numerous cities of Europe,I found ours to be quite large[room 208]. The desk staff were friendly and helpfull. The breakfast room staff were tops also. Great location . 2 minute walk to St. Marks, 5 minute to Rialto bridge. And yes the boat ride to murano is a sales pitch, but it's also a free ride through the canals and across the lagoon!!
Quaint little hotel
My husband and I stayed at the Monte Carlo in October, 2003. Venice (the island/s) has no vehicular traffic and therefore, visitors must take their own luggage (TIP* Pack light!) when alighting from the water taxi/bus etc. This hotel is conveniently located closeby St Mark's Square though you will need to ask for the hotel's directions. The breakfast room is quite small and usually quite busy. The food choice is from both hot and cold foods. Nothing too fance, but sufficient for our needs. Venice is very walkable - what else can you do but walk!! The 'streets' are more alike to alley-ways and can be a nightmare to navigate in rainy conditions when everyone has their umbrellas opened and there are constant comings and goings with luggage laden visitors! The hotel rooms and bathrooms are small (as are most hotel rooms in Europe) but very clean.
Great location
I stayed here in January 2004 for 3 nights. The hotel is located right off San Marco square on a quiet little side street. The rooms are very spacious compared to other 3 star hotels I have seen in Europe and the bathroom is roomy with plenty of towels, toiletries, a hairdryer, etc. The staff spoke English very well and knew us by name after the first day. The breakfast is good with eggs, sausage, ham, cheese, breads, cereals, yogurt, juices, etc. The only complaint that I have would be with the extra bed in our triple room. It was a fold out bed and the mattress was really bad. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around the hotel, but I would suggest eating at a restaurant away from the touristy San Marco area. The prices are extremely high for mediocre food. We found much more reasonably priced food in the Rialto area and off on the side streets.
