Capri Hotel

I stayed at this hotel in early July. After arriving at the airport we took the number 5 bus to Venice. The trip took 30 mins and we paid 4 euros for 3 people. Once in venice we went over two bridges and an alley-way (3 mins). The Hotel is on a quite block away from everything. However, the hotel was clean and secure. The Breakfast was OK. This hotel was great for me since after checking in we went to dinner and everywhere we went, we saw families lugging their luggage all around. Hotel Capri is across the bridge and though a calle from the Ferovia train station. It was very convenient to the Piazzalle Roma connection to the mainland and a quick hop on a vaporetto you are in Piazza San Marco. A continental style breakfast is included. You can reach the hotel with a motoscafi (motor boat taxi) to it's sister hotel the Carlton hotel on the canal. The Capri Hotel in Venice had many pros/cons which I feel are worth mentioning. We spent over $250 per night for our room, which we realize is expected in Venice during tourist season. However, there is a point that it is not worth it! The hotel is extremely shabby as other reviewers mentioned. The wallpaper is falling off and carpet coming apart in the public areas. We found the Capri Hotel very cozy, and the staff was great! The breakfast was also good. The room was small but sufficient and clean. We would definitely go back, because of the friendly atmosphere and also the location! It's close to Piazzale Roma and also the train station, which makes it convenient. But still it's quiet and peaceful, and we got good nights of sleep. And there are some good restaurants in the area too. We also enjoyed living there as it's in a residential area.

My wife and I stayed here in February 2005 and had a lovely time. The bed was nice and the room was nice sized. The bathroom may have been small but the shower was awesome. Nice water pressure and hot. The breakfast was very good as they had eggs and ham along with the usual assortment of bread. Here's a tip. Don't follow the map on Expedia!

The very best thing about Hotel Capri is its location.....and its breakfast. After watching others juggle luggage on and off crowded water busses and deeper into the city, I have to say it is very worth staying here for this reason. Especially if this is your first time in Venice, which is quite a maze, albeit a delighful one! For us the Hotel Capri was perfect. Tricia has a badly damaged ankle and isn't too mobile. Being close to the bus station was important; so was having a room on the ground floor, only yards from the entrance. We didn't do too much research into hotel prices but the Capri looked competitive. It was certainly a very pleasant place to stay. Our room was clean, pleasant and comfortable. The only good thing about this hotel was its location: its located across the canal from the train station. other than that its a good 30-45 minute walk to San Marco square and you are bound to get lost. Pretty much expect to get lost whenever you are in Venice. The hotel itself was clean, a little aged but the bathroom was spacious and clean. There is a continental breakfast. We did have a problem. LOCATION: The hotel is conveniently located near the Santa Lucia train station which is the primary entry point into Venice. Venice is definately not a city you want to trek through with luggage considering the propensity to get lost, the numerous bridges and dead-ends, and the lack of ground transportation. The Capri Hotel is located within 5 minutes from the Ponte degli Scalzi (the first bridge across the Grand Canal).
