Costazzurra Hotel

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Costazzurra in the San Leone area of Agrigento on the island of Sicily. This family-run hotel within a brief walk from the beach went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and like welcome guests. We would not recommend this hotel because of its location, unless you are driving a car. It is quite far away from town (about 20 minutes by car) as well as from the major attraction, the Valle dei Templi, and the bus lines are not reliable, so we had to take taxis everywhere. If you’re coming for a beach holiday, this hotel is about ½ mile from the beach, and the beach area itself is surprisingly down-in-the-heels – definitely not the place for a luxurious and relaxing vacation. Our first time in Agrigento. My wife and me enjoyed the hotel very much. It was a nice hotel. Rooms were good sized, modern and clean. Breakfast (buffet) is excellent with a wide variety. The food and service was excellent and the staff was very pleasant and efficient .Compare with the other hotels and with the price is the hotel a good choose. If you're in Agrigento then book here. You will not be disappointed.

Right after we made the booking we received a long e-mail with directions and sites to see in the vacinity of the hotel. We found the hotel staff to be very helpful and welcoming. They provided us with excellent local information which was extremely helpful. The spa whirlpool area of the hotel was particularly good, it was very clean and spacious and the member of staff who served in the bar area was very efficient. We highly recommend the hotel especialy if you dont like over priced, big and noisy Hotels.

Visiting Sicily for 14 days September-October this year, we spend 3 nights at this hotel. We arrived 3 days too early due to unexpected cancellation at an other hotel, but was kindly helped by the chef. The room was nicely cleaned up each day and half-board pension can be recommended. Fair priced and indeed good service.

We were pleased we chose this hotel as our base for visiting the Valley of the Temples. It is well located in San Leone. Our room was big enough to relax after the City-Tour and the furniture was modern and really comfortable - especially the nice bathroom. The staff was friendly and helpful with great dinner recommendations and the spoke very good english which helped as our italian was limited. The breakfast was excellent! A nice selection and variety. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it to our friends.

The hotel was excellent and exceeded our expectations, and we mixed with, and got on well with the other guests. The staff were friendly and welcoming - nothing was too much to ask of them. They spoke very good English and were patient and kind. The room was perfect as was the bathroom and the surroundings. San Leone itself is a lovely area with excellents shops, restaurants and bars. This is the best hotel we stayed in in Sicily and I would go back to Sicily just to stay there again.

We're not picky travelers who insist on champaign on a beer budget. We've stayed at the high ends and also at hostels, depending on what kind of vacation/experience we want to get out of it. So our friends picked this hotel because it was convenient to the Valley of the Temple and the price was just right for a place to rest for the night. For this purpose, the hotel achieved all that. Very average hotel; clean rooms, basic but decent breakfast. Overpriced for what it was though (espcially compared to every other hotel we stayed in - in Catania and Palermo). If you search around a bit, the 4-star hotels will sometimes run deals better than even the average 3-star hotel price. This hotel was advertised as being 350 meters from the beach and also that each room had a private balcony. I made my reservation eight months in advance and when I asked about the balcony (which I didn't have), I was told that my room was the only one without a balcony. The hotel is also farther from the beach than 350 meters. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, but the bathrooms were old.
