Kaos Hotel

travelled here with Riviera, hotel clean and reasonably comfortable. Food definately not 4 star, only stayed three nights but would think we had all the menu. Independant travellers had same menu but served a'la carte. pool not in use, empty completely, no entertainment unless you did your own thing, not a place to use as a base, totally isolated unless you have a car.

We have just returned from a three night stay at the Kaos Hotel,what a lovely hotel it is. The room was clean tidy and everything worked, the evening meals were good with waiter sevice, well presented and very friendly, the breakfast was particularly nice as a buffet style with plenty of variety and plenty of it. What was nice was the freshly squeezed orange juice squeezed just for you. The refurbishments were not quite complete but what a magnificent hotel it will be when it is finished. Previous reviews wrote this hotel off! Much better than anticipated following Hilton Hotels takeover.Accom. & food good but disappointing that pool was empty for repair.Management promised full service by end July. Should be fine on completion.

Arrived as part of a tour group on Saturday 21st April for 3 day visit. Hotel is billed as 4-star with heated swimming-pool. Saw immediately that Hotel was undergoing major (i.e. structural) alterations - it was part building-site. Pool was being sand-blasted so no swimming. Riviera travel offer this as the first stop on a good introductory tour of Sicily. They bill it as a "Superb Eight Day Holiday" - in four star hotels. Luckily the worst came first, and was only three nights. Surly (at best) reception staff. One wing was closed for refurbishment/renovation/ perhaps a good idea if the owners had closed the whole place down throughout the winter months and re-opened at the start of the next season. We also, like a previous reviewer, stayed at the Kaos on a Riviera Holidays tour.Of course it needs refurbishing and the food is unexciting but it will be a great place when it has been done as the setting is fabulous.It would be rather cut off for anyone without their own transport and there is nothing to do if the weather is bad but the late summer that we got this year meant we could swim in the wonderful pool at the end of October.The staff look truly Sicilian (or how we imagine them) and the place has more character than the Baia... more

We had a refurbished room with a new bathroom including a hairdryer BUT only a dribble of water from the shower which did not run away properly so you ended your shower standing in a pool of water. The outside of the hotel is indeed very attractive, and the lobby and bar are fine, the gardens are lovely with nice views and the pool is indeed huge BUT when we were there the bottom had big patches of green slime. Well I think the Kaos is okay. It is right outside the Valley of the Temples and there are not so many hotels in the area that can accomodate big parties of people. The rooms could do with a revamp but they are very spacious. The food is not the best in Sicily but I have eaten there many times and it is acceptable on most nights (good wine list anyway!). Arrived with Riviera travel and frankly wished we hadn't. Great potential but need a major revamp. Swimming pool looks very nice but you do not live in the pool. Bedroom alright but shower dirty and walls tired. Light bulbs not working in many places.Bedroom patio filthy and food awful. Breakfast definately an after thought. If this is No. 22 of 30 then the others must be the pits.
