" The Quality Hotel was exceptionally... "

The Quality Hotel was exceptionally clean and decor was modern and stylish with light colours it looks very light and airy. The bed was very large and comfortable with warm yellow trims making it feel very large, bright and sunny. Breakfast buffet had plenty of choice; cereals, fruits, yoghurts, fantastic scrambled eggs, strange German meats/sausages, boiled eggs, Danish pastries, juices and plenty of tea and coffee.

Berlin was much nicer than expected with wide streets reminiscent of American cities and tree lined avenues reminiscent of Paris with plenty of street cafes and beautiful sites. We did a 4 hour walking tour of the city which was fantastic and we learnt a lot but also had great fun.

The trams were very easy to find to get into the city from the hotel. Make sure you get The Berlin Welcome Card on arrival - you can buy them at the train station beside the platforms. They give you unlimited use of all Public Transport (S-Bahn, U-Bahn & Trams etc) and cheaper access to tourist attractions. They cost € 16 valid for 48 hours or € 22 valid for 72 hours (£15 approx). Make sure you get the book of vouchers with the ticket (some machines may run out of them) as some places need the voucher for their receipts/book keeping.

Trams run all day and are plentiful and easy to use, clean and efficient. However if returning after midnight to the hotel (which is away from the centre) there is less choice so you can get a tram to nearby Frederickstrasse and then walk about 10 minutes to the hotel. The hotel bars are open reasonably late (i.e. 2am) most days and later if they have plenty of customers.

If you want to eat at the top of the tower in the central Alexanderplatz square then make your way to the bar there and get friendly with the barman - when there is a queue for tables he can get you in fast! He also makes fantastic Margarita's!
