Carna Bay Hotel

Went to Carna to look for family roots. Lovely area, exactly my idea of Ireland. The staff was very friendly. The accomodations were excellent in the wheelchair accessible room and bathroom. The bedroom was a little small, but very roomy bath & shower for wheelchair. Delicious food in the dinning room.

We have been to Carna Bay several times over the last 10years and it just gets better. It feelsd like you are going home.This time we took some friends to prove how good it is. Mary , as usual made us all welcome and for her staff nothing was too much trouble. The rooms as ever were warm and cosy and the meals fresh cooked with local produce. Carna Bay is miles more fun than all those anonymous, boil-in-the-bag four star hotels which now dominate the market. Luxury at Carna is defined by a jovial pint of Guinness in the bar after a day exploring the pure white Connemara sands; perhaps in preparation for a huge plate of mussels from the excellent kitchen. Or maybe before trying out the surprisingly good restaurant. The bedrooms are simple and absolutely fine. The welcome is rich and absolutely unforgettable.
