Terrible Dirty Hotel
This was THE most disguisting hotel I've ever been to. First, it was filthy. There was a dead beetle on the ground. The sheets were never changed: we put marks to test it. We were so disguisted that we were afraid of accidentally touching the walls when sleeping - it was that bad. We lifted the mattress just to see how bad the place was - under the mattress was filled with hair, chips, dirt: they never change the bed skirt!!! The elevator is tiny. The rooms are small. I didn't feel safe b/c you have to leave the windows open in order... more
I liked this hotel
I had a pleasant stay in this hotel. We paid 85 Euro incl. breakfast for a double room booked throug internet, however the advertised price on the door of the room was 130 Euro exc. breakfast (11 euro). I would definetely not pay the latter for this hotel simply because the rooms are so tiny. For the rest I liked the hotel very much, friendly staff, good service, everything is clean and well maintained, tv in the room worked well, nice bath and plenty of fresh towels, the breakfast is good as well, there is a bit of a damp odor in the... more
Oh Mon dieu
I booked this trip as part of a package with "Eurostar". As you do, I forgot to look at this wonderful site for reviews. Once I did, I very nearly went and unbooked it!! I am a bit of a self styled snob when it comes to travel and thought my trip was going to be ruined!. Ever the eternal optomist, I found the location excellent, just a skip and a hop from 'Jacques Bonsergent' on line 5 of the Metro. Once we had passed the sleeping (and resident) tramp!, the building itself is unassuming but it does have the "three star" rating on its... more
Never going back
We got a room with no air conditioning so I asked for a change. The front desk told me the next day there would be one available but not tonight. So I couldn't sleep the whole night because it was so hot and opening the windows mean listening to all the cars on the street. It was very noisy. Next day, the front desk claims the hotel has no AC in any of its rooms, until we pressed on further saying someone said there is a room available with AC. THEN, he runs to the back, talks to someone, and comes out and said AC rooms are only on the 1st... more
Unpleasant. Avoid unless desperate.
I booked this hotel for one night as I was travelling into and out of Gare du Nord, which is about 15 mins walk away. The area is absolutely horrible, and even as a tall 30 year old male, feels very threatening at night. The hotel is just off a main street and opposite a metro station, so you can at least get to somewhere less slum-like relatively quickly. My single room was obtained cheaply over the internet, but I was still taken aback when I opened the door to the small musty cupbosrd they had provided me. Amazingly they had... more
Pavillon Republique Les Halles-Very average hotel
My father and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel.I have to say we were disappointed. The 3 star rating it has been given would seem to be very flattering. My room was badly in need of re-painting(dirty marks on walls everywhere),there was very little storage space for your clothes and every time I took a shower my bathroom floor flooded( I pitied the people in the room below).Air-conditioned rooms were said to be available on request so I e-mailed the hotel only to be told they did not exist - not fun in 34 degree heat! <br... more
Cute, affordable hotel near the Marais
So who stays close to the Place de la Republique? People like us who, at the last moment, were told the apartment we had rented was "unavailable." (A story for another day.) We took these rooms because they were available, something that seemed good when we had no place to stay. Much to our surprize, they were delightful. Small hotel, tiny elevator, friendly staff, great breakfast, three stars - all this for the internet rate of 90 euro a night per room! The rooms had recently been redecorated in kind of a fun, funky decor. The... more
Not recommended
I booked online a single room in this hotel and would not recommend it. The room was situated on the ground-floor, 5m away from the reception. During the first night I was woken every hour by the front door bell I could hear (person behind reception desk locked the hotel door for security reasons I assume, so you had to ring before getting in). Early in the morning there was a lot of noise (chatting, laughing ...) from the breakfast room, so no change to sleep until 10 ! The rooms are very small, you could hardly move. The bathroom was clean... more
Guard your valuables well if you stay here
The hotel itself is ok. Nothing special, but not terrible. My single room was musty, dark, and quite depressing. However, according to the website, it seems there are much better rooms than the one I had. Unfortunately I had a necklace stolen from my room here--not an expensive one, but one that meant alot to me. The reception staff was very nonchalant about the situation and really didn´t care. It almost seemed they were accustomed to such things happening there. I will never stay here again, first because of the theft, second because of... more
Good value & good location
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a 4 day break in January this year. The hotel is nice, with fairly modern rooms (although ours was a little on the small side - I suppose to be expected in a large city). The bathroom was clean, however was tiny and I managed to bruise my arm trying to get in the shower. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast in the morning was excellent - continental style, rolls, bread, cereal etc. The location couldn't be better, ok it wasn't on the Champs Elysee but would you really want to be?... more
