Just returned from a 1 week stay at the Pelagos. If you want a really chilled out place to stay then this is the place for you. A very warm and friendly family orientated hotel. Billy & Barbara make you instantly welcomed the minute you arrive.Booked in and then taken to your room where your bags are waiting all within minutes.Large spacious room with fridge, tea/coffee making facilities,air con which is free. Reasonable sized shower,toilet facilities with hairdryer.Balcony with sea view. All decorated to a high standard.Large swimming pool with enough beds for all. None of this being up at the crack of dawn to get a bed, and this with the hotel being full.Free lilos and other pool equipment for children.Table tennis and other games all free. Pool table which is payable.Right opposite the hotel is a small beach,pebbles not sand.You can get your typical burgers,chips etc during the day.Breakfast is cornflakes and toast with juice,coffee and tea. Full English costs 6 Euros.They only do 3 nights where you can eat there and it is usually a Greek dish.Billy does a BBQ on a Saturday and it is a must.The food just keeps coming until you tell him to stop.Billy and Barbara will do there very best to help and accommodate you during your stay.The staff also are very warm and friendly and keep the place spotless.The only down side is the 30 minute walk to the Skala town centre.If you do not want to walk a taxi is 5 Euros. Well worth going to to eat out. Pines and Aquarius are the 2 best places.Pines just edging on value for money. 3 course for 2 people around 27 Euros.If you like wine then drink the local when eating out as it is the cheapest and very good.Beer ranges from 2.50 to 3.00 Euros wherever you drink.There is a supermarket which is a 10 minute walk so you can stock up your fridge with goodies if you wish to eat in your room.Buy some beer because it is only 1.20 for a large can.Kefelonia is typical Greece unspoilt and a lovely island.Pelagos is a superb hotel.

This was our 2nd stay at Pelagos and not our last!
Again the place was superb, food, bar, entertainment, atmosphere, well everything about the hotel was fantastic so much so that we will be getting married there in 2008!
Billy and 'zoo' were brilliant again, the entire holiday was faultless. The First Choice rep (Gill) was brilliant and was on hand when required.
Thanks again for an amazing holiday!
Gavin.

Pelagos Bay, what can I say! Amazing place with amazing staff, from start to finish the holiday was so much more than I was expecting, the owner Billy and the rest of the extended family were amazing people, they truely made the stay quite possibly the best holiday we have ever had.
The rooms are spotless, the food was brilliant and the atmosphere was superb.
I don't agree with previous reports about the bar being expensive, some of the cocktails are pricey but you get what you pay for! Great value, going again!

This is a really beautiful hotel with very friendly staff, spotlessly clean hotel and wonderful pool. Pelagos Bay across the road is ideal for holiday type stuff (lounging, snorkelling or just gentle swimming), the bar is well stocked and supplied and the food is good. However the only downside is the level of noise, the owner (Billy) seems to think that he needs to turn this beautiful hotel into some sort of nightspot venue, it is situated a short 20min walk from town centre and that is the charm of the place, away from the crowds and tranquil. Stop trying so hard Billy and let Pelagos Bay charm your clients and have a holiday to remember. Music usually stops anywhere between 2am and 4.30am and the breakfast supplied by First Choice was pathetic, toast and cornflakes, Kefalonia deserves more than that!!

The Pelagos Bay is very welcoming and spotlessly clean. The owner Billy does all he can to make your stay enjoyable.
When my suitcase did not arrive with me it was Billy and not the first choice rep ( who was useless ) who located it and returned it to me 3 days later.
However the only downside to the Pelagos bay is the noise at night from the poolside bar. One night the music went on until 5-55 am!
We will be returning to Kefalonia but not to the Pelagos bay hotel.

All the reviews we have read have said much the same thing about this hotel and can be summed up thus:
Very friendly staff - true they are brilliant
Very clean - true it is spotless
Pricey and small drinks - well not really, 0.4l of beer (instead of the usual 0,5) and if you choose to spend a night at the bar you'll find that you are supplied with lots of free shots - it works out a lot cheaper than a night out in the UK (especially if you are from down south)
About 20min walk from town, we walked there and back every night and didn’t find it a problem.
The view, the fact that it has its own small bay (good for snorkeling) and the occasional sight of sheep/goat herds (complete with bells!) wandering around more than makes up for the distance from town.
The food is “real” – fresh and home cooked. We thought it was cheap and for what you are getting excellent value for money.
This is a really nice hotel with truly wonderful staff. Put it like this ... when we came to leave my wife actually cried.

This light hearted, friendly, English hotel was the ideal resort for our perfect holiday last year. With only a week there we felt as if we had settled in with in hours. This was rated as a 3* hotel where I think it should be higher.
The cleanliness of the hotel was immaculate. Rooms were cleaned everyday except for Saturday and the pool and bar was cleaned everyday. It was a home run hotel which made it more friendly as they all got on well, with a laugh involving us too!
The local amenities were a fare old walk but the overall holiday was great. The food was great and the view was stunning. I would not miss this in a million years!

First the positives;
lovely little family run apartments with superb sea views
spacious rooms, cleaned up to 6 times per week, great power shower, brilliant for getting rid of that sand!
Fantastic staff, with Billy and Yannis making sure that everyone has a good holiday
Short walk (Approx. 20 Minutes down a slight hill) into Skala
Superb home-cooked food (especially the moussaka)
Right, the negatives;
The First Choice breakfast is very basic, a choice of toast, toast or toast, the hotel provide complimentary cornflakes, surely first choice can pay the hotel more and get some muesli, Greek yogurt and fruit. Even some boiled eggs!.
My biggest complaint is the noise, various comments have been raised about this on several review websites, for us we can only comment on what we experienced, we stayed in block 20/21/22 and were opposite the pool area and even with the shutters, window and air-con on we could still hear the music or signing etc from the pool area, which on some nights went on until 4am, the worst being on first night when after being up since 0200 the night before was a bit unwelcome to say the least, twice we had to go down and request that the music be turned down. On Speaking to Billy the next morning he did say that it is a lively bar with the music and signing going on until 5am. I explained that we shouldn't have to shut the shutters and windows and turn on the air-con in order to drown out the noise to which Billy didn't give a plausible reply. Out of the 7 nights we were there, we returned back to the hotel most nights past 0100 to find that there were on occasions 4 or less people in the pool area with the music banging out and having people to shout to one another in order to hold down a conservation.
I'd say to anyone wanting a quiet nights sleep to look elsewhere, a 'Buyer Beware' if you like, unless you want to have the air-con on and windows shut which is a real shame because the hotel doesn't need to have a night-club feel to it.
That said the Weather, choice of restaurants and beach make up for the lack of quality sleep. However if we go to Skala again it wont be to the Pelagos Bay unless the Hotel look to address this problem.
