This hotel is minutes away from the Eiffel Tower and next door to the Paris Hilton hotel. The reception by the staff was efficient but not especially friendly - perhaps my being English was rubbing salt into the wound! (We were there just days after the French lost their... more

Paris was beautiful, I had an excellent time. Our hotel was right near the Eiffel Tower and as you came out of the main hotel entrance the view was amazing. We stayed for 3 nights in the Mercure Suffren, and overall the hotel/room was clean, the room was a little small but... more

No bad, but I think I would not go back
The hotel is very close to the Eiffel Tower and the area is ok, metro is close too. The hotel staff was nice and the lobby looked good... it is a business oriented hotel I think because is next to a union, Australia's embassy, and other offices. The room is clean, small to medium size, but it looks poor, like a prision, I do not know why but was kind of depressing. Our room was next to the elevators and was very noisy at night.
rooms too small for two people
Stayed here Nov. 26 to Dec. 1 , 2006 this is not a four star hotel. We had stayed at the Hilton next door twice on priceline and that hotel is a star and two better even though both are 4 stars on paper. Rooms are very very small with two small desk chairs, and their just is not any room to move about. It does have a good location. We will not stay here again and will not bid for this area on priceline. We paid 115 a night plus priceline charges.
Good Hotel For 3 Stars
The location of this hotel was excellent, right next to the eiffel tower. The room was comfortable and the breakfast buffet was also good. My only complaints would be that the hairdryer in my room didnt work and the view from my room was of a very unattractive building. I would deffinately recomend this hotel if you are looking for somewhere cheap to stay.
Stay here if you can
Got this hotel as part of an air + hotel deal. Frankly, we can't usually afford to stay anyplace so nice, preferring the 2-star hotels instead. Before going, I read the TripAdvisor reviews and wondered what we were getting into -- now I wonder how anyone could complain! Location: right next to the Hilton, 2 blocks to the Eiffel Tower, 2 blocks to the Metro (which will take you anywhere you want to go, contrary to what other reviewers say about needing the RER), around the corner from (for us budget travelers) a little superette, a boulangerie/patisserie and a slew of restaurants. Room: big double, very clean, plenty of space to lounge around, a hot shower with good water pressure, a separate water closet. Food: they have two levels of breakfast and apparently can't keep track of which guests are entitled to which, so on some days we got a really good breakfast (eggs, meat, cheese, bread, fruit, yogurt, cereals, etc., juices and coffee) and some days we got a really GREAT breakfast (same stuff but better quality). Service: very polite and accomodating -- honored our request for a non-smoking double at no extra charge and honored our request to stay out of our room for the duration of our stay; mono-lingual English speakers would not have a problem. I'd stay again, if I could get another good deal.
No, No, and Maybe
Spent 3 nights at the the Mercure right by the Hilton at the Eiffel Tower (Bir-Hakeim on the 6). Not bad for sightseeing as far as Invalides, but you'll have to take the RER (train, as opposed to metro) to get to anything more exciting. The hotel was clean, but that was its most endearing attribute. There was no Concierge, we got a TERRIBLE restaurant reccomendation. For a business hotel, this one loses points because there was no internet in the rooms. You had to go down to the lobby (after 6pm) to hook up to their wifi. The elevators are reeeeeally slow because they're on some "efficiency" system. Breakfast was nice, but it was not included. Would only return to the Mercure as a last resort. Try the quartier St. Michel instead!
Great hotel
I decided to take a few days to get out of London and unwind in Paris via Eurostar - so avoiding the air travel delays. I deliberately chose this hotel because I was intrigued by some of the previous, unfavourable reviews. However, I found the staff were exceptionally friendly and the service excellent. My room was very clean, comfortable and air-conditioned to the point of being chilled on arrival. This hotel is great for a leisure visit like mine - a block away from the Tour d'Eiffel (fantastic late evening and day visits) or for exploring the Rive Gauche, although the Line 6 Metro stop is just around the corner so anywhere in Paris is just minutes away. There's a large number of cafes, bistros and restaurants nearby if you want a change from hotel food (although there's certainly nothing wrong with the Mercure's). Breakfast was superb and although no chef was on hand (this is a 3 star) there was a very comprehensive buffet - even an electric egg boiler so I could time my own 3 minute egg! The Paris Hilton is next door and although I'm a Hilton Diamond Card holder and always enjoy my stay at Hiltons world-wide, I reckon this Mercure offers exceptionally good value. P.S. - I always find in Paris that if you initiate a conversation in French i.e just plain 'Bonjour Monsieur / Madame... merci... c'est bon... au revoir ' will do...Parisians invariably answer in English !! It's all part of the game! - Paris is still one of the best cities in the whole world for seriously chilling out, enjoying la vie en rose and having the time of your life.
Nice Hotel but Americans May Not Like It
Stayed here 2 nights, July 3 and 4, 2006. Nice, clean hotel but very French. We found the staff nice, the building clean and very convenient to the Eiffel Tower. Americans (like me) won't like the twin beds instead of full size or the separate water closet. They also won't like that you must go to the third floor for an ironing room or ice machine. The gym room has several machines but no pool or sauna. The lobby bar is nice but be aware that Paris is very expensive; regular can of Coke was about $5 in all restaurants (no kidding). This hotel is also very convenient for two separate subway/rail stops. We liked it and would stay there again. For a more American hotel stay at the Hilton next to this hotel; but more expensive. We got this hotel for $125 on Priceline whice we thought was a great price.
Worst Hotel Ever
This has to be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. They do not know anythign about customer service at the front desk. We arrived a little early at the hotel and wasn't allowed to check into until after 2:30 when our paperwork had said 12pm check in. What really got me ticked off was how they were so rude every single time I asked. The "double" room was TINY and dirty with two TWIN sized beds. The maid cleaned our room eventhough I had put the "do NOT disturb" sign outside BOTH the hotel rooms before I had left for the day. And even after I complained proceeded to open our room without knocking THREE times the next morning even when the "do NOT disturb" sign was outside. Some sites claim that this hotel is FOUR stars.. when it should be ZERO stars. I think I've had MOTELs better than this one.
We like it!
What can I say? Everyone has their own experience. Our stay at the Mercure Tour Eiffel Suffren was pretty nice! The air-conditioner in our room worked well during the heatwave - and that meant a lot to us (as it was truly swelteringly hot and humid out). The hotel IS just two blocks from the Eiffel Tower. It's a very safe neighborhood. You can walk everywhere around it no problem. The RER train (essential for sight-seeing travel) is right there! It's next to The Paris Hilton. Ooops, I mean the Paris Hilton. (It actually didn't look at all as nice as the Mercure Hotel. Hmm.) We were on a tour, so this is where they book them as "superior first class". Not Deluxe. (Our tour put the Deluxe class in the Hilton next door. Again, it was not as nice to us as the Mercure.) But I must say the Mercure is plenty sweet. She is clean and modern and very convenient. The rooms are nice and well decorated. The linens not worn. Bathroom was nice. I give it all an A. They have airline pilots and crew booking in this hotel as well. If you don't know this, airline pilots and crew do not stay at the Motel 6. They like comfort. They like a cut above. I'm sure they use it for it's convenience to the RER and Metro (number 6 line). And that is what you will get at this hotel. We used the restaurant for the included breakfast buffet. It was the best of all the hotels we stayed in (3). The gift shop is cheeper than anywhere else we bought suvieniers. (Buy PLENTY of the cheep magnets/postcard packs/ etc. You will need them when you get home) In all, I'd have to give a high recommendation to the Mercure Eiffel Sufferen. You will have no problems whatsoever. If you do, then you really are a spoiled brat. Oh! And bring an iron. It's against the law in Rome, can't remember in Paris. And! There is THE ONLY ICE MACHINE IN ALL OF PARIS on the third floor (along with the one and only iron they provide for the entire hotel).
Most disgusting hotel I ever have been in!
I stayed at this hotel with my family, rooms are dirty, view horrible, people very unfriendly to americans. Please do not go here if you expect a Hilton. I have a very bad impression of Paris after staying here. The breakfast buffet was its only saving grace. Go to London people are alot nicer and city is cleaner.
