Just returned after a week at the Hotel Pomorie with my 2 sons aged 7 and 15. Quite nervous after reading the reviews over the months building up to the holiday. However better than expected ! So please read on if you are having similar anxieties.
We had a great time, room was fine and at the back of the hotel - so less noise. Plenty of room for the 3 of us !
Hotel was clean and the staff worked incredibly hard to keep it so - particularly in the reception and bar areas - their work was constant.
Food was average - but importantly my sons were happy with what was on offer ! Yes it is repetitive, however even one of my fussy sons always had something to eat - even though it was mainly pork and chips ! If they were happy, then I was happy !
Breakfasts - always had a nice choice, and Bulgarian yoghurt is delicious.Fresh fruit always on offer for lunch and evening meals and salads.
Bar service was fine - ignore the moaning minnies. Yes there is a walk to the bar, no problem with that ! The barmen were fine - respond well to some simple manners and a please and a thank you !
I overhead so many rude people, moaning and complaining - of all nationalities. What a waste of their energy ! The Bulgarian people deserve a little bit more respect, and perhaps if you were a little more considerate, the service you received might have been a bit friendlier !
The animation team were superb. Best team EVER !. Kiddies disco was great ! Zumba was fantastic and my youngest and I LOVED it ! They really worked well as a team, provided some hilarious entertainment and really got to know the willing participants !
The resort itself is lively, lots of shops and oppportunities to shop. Often went out late at night between 10 and 11pm for a wander and felt very friendly and safe. Excellent for the 18 - 30 age group and also for family groups
Beach gorgeous, water lovely and warm, once we got through the seaweed ! Spent the day enjoying the waves !.
So all in all a great holiday, ticked the boxes. Personally I would have preferred somewhere quieter - but my boys really enjoyed their stay !
- Advice: The animation team is great - join in !

Some people seem to think that hotel pomorie is extremely bad but in my opinion i think people are being overly dramatic, wheni stayed there with my family, we had a great time although the food there if you book all inclusive is not fantastic, it is edible and nice for children with less excentric taste. the staff are nice there, escpecially the games and entertainment crew.if you cant fall asleep that easily, you probably want to get a room on the inside and not one facing the nightclub which is on from 9 to early in the morning, if you enjoy nightclubbing this would probably be a good place for you aswell. alot of english are there, overall its a good place for you to stay with your family , i think people should stop pointing out all the negitives and point out the positives aswell!
i hope anyone who is planning to stay here has a great time and make the most of it.
- Advice: to check around the whole area you will find the town centre, its amazing.

We have just returned from a weeks stay and had read the not so great reviews before we went.
We got a good deal,I admit would have been a little disappointed if had paid the full brochure price but feel that many people have been let down by their travel agents who should have explained Bulgaria to them a little better.
Sunny Beach is not the most accessible place for disabled people and all of the trips that I have seen would not be suitable for disabled people lack of toilets etc.
Have to say you get what you pay for and the plastic cups were mentioned in the previous postings.I would point out that if you want diet coke you do have to prove that it is because you have diabetes which I find a little odd.
We did see lots of people with their own mugs and the guys at the bars did have mugs with handles if you asked so I can only assume that they took action after the previous complaint.
There is no air conditioning so be aware thaat it may be very hot in high summer the shop next door hires fans.
Food not great but again last time I was in Bulgaria 20 yrs+ ago that is the type of food the locals eat. Most hotels recycle left over foods especially all inclusives.
There are many bars and restaurants close by and when you can get a meal for £5.00 per person including a large beer and a couple of cocktails for £4.00 I think my advice would be to book bed and breakfast only and go out if you are not happy.
The hotel was spotlessly clean the floors were hoovered everyday and then mopped with disinfectant.
We did not have anything go missing from our room, but we did hire a safe in the lobby approx £20 for the week.
Yes the staff may seem a little abrupt but I think that is mainly down to their poor english and our bad Bulgarian!! perhaps if you have a problem you should explain to one of the animation team and ask them to translate.
The animation team were fantastic and I loved the fact that they would ask you to join in and made everyone feel welcome but there was no pressure if you didnt want to.Loved the full monty show those guys work so hard, practising late into the night.Well done to you all.
If anyone from the hotel is reading this keep your staff as they are they were all very friendly towards guests.
Worst part of our holiday the 11 hour delay before we got there and listening to people comparing this hotel with the one they stayed at last year!!!!!!!!!!!
Stayed June 2011, travelled with friends

I went here with my boyfriend Aug 2010 and after reading all the reviews was really worried. But once i was there it was lovley the staff where friendly and willing to help. The rooms arent very big and when me and my boyfriend moved our beds we find a pill:-S and defo dont go all inclusive as the food is sooo cheap. But all in all it was a good holiday i dont think the hotel is for families though as its very loud and full of 18-30s but if your looking for a cheap hotel and very cheap food and beer defo go :-D

Keep away from the Hotel & Balkan Holidays!
We went to the Hotel Pomerie in late September & treated like second class citizens! They couldn't find our bookings so made us wait in the lobby for over an hour. Watch out as other couples had their passports held until they paid for phone calls they didn't make! Only half the trips were on, on the last day - drinks were not available, beds not made available until 11am. If you have young children then the lobby is the only place to go at night which has a low ceiling and no ventilation - so get ready to be choked with other peoples smoke. When the restaurant states "respect the bread" you know that things could be better - food choice was poor, sometimes cold and like most other people we started to eat out as some was inedible. One guest brought some meat down for a local dog but even that refused it! If you expect a useful Balkan holidays rep in a Balkan holidays hotel then you like us would be mistaken as he was hardly around, the one on the bus said "hello" & that's it - no description about Bulgaria or where you are staying or even how long to get there. There were apparantly 2 Reps at the airport but must have hidden well as ourselves and six other families didn't see them! Don't bother complaining to Balkan holidays as they state that everything in their eyes is fine - so I'm going to ABTA and write bad reviews if anyone would like to join myself in complaining then please leave a message.

Just arrived back from the hotel pomorie and its digraceful that a hotel in a country this hot has no air condition,we hired a fan for 2 days which did little good and arrived back to find the staff had removed it from our room, they had no fans left so my and my partner trwaled the streets trying to find one and in the end had to buy one from the stalls. The staff are horrible and the food was disgusting. The rooms were small and rarely cleaned properly i would go back to bulgaria but not to this hotel DO NOT STAY HERE. On the upside there is a lovely pud the longsdown at the back of the pomorie who serve great food and friendly staff the owner lent us there fans one night which we were grateful for.

We made the mistake of going all inclusive, the food is just revolting. We had just chips every night but to be fair we didn't pay much more for all inclusive. Very basic rooms but they're fine and the hotel overall is nice. The staff were very arrogant, don't want to help you. The bar man never ever smiles and some of the staff can be rude. The only bad things were the food and the arrogant staff but overall we had a great time didn't let that ruin our holiday we ate out and got our moneys worth of all inclusive in drinks. The all inclusive drinks are small plastice cups only allowed 2 at a time. You can only have diet coke if you have a card to proove you are diabetic. I would reccomend this hotel, room only but not all inclusive. You can't really call it all inclusive because it's not somewhere where the bars open 24/7 and you get burgers or pizzas for snacks and you see them cook it nothing like that. The food overall is disgusting. The entertainers are a great laugh and yes we would come back to Bulgaria in a few years if we came back to hotel pomorie though it would most certainly be room only! :)
The cleaners were lovely, the pool was massive but always cold. The beach on Sunny Beach is filled with jellyfish, we didn't go in the sea but plenty of people did and apparently they don't sting but i didn't want the feel of one of them touching but honestly theres millions of them.
