This hotel is awful. We didn't go full board (thank God) so we could get away for trips.
We had to move rooms twice during our 2 week stay due to 1. The Lazur nightclub which goes on until just before breakfast time every day .
2. The Swiss & German teenage lager louts which seemed to occupy the hotel during the night.
The receptionists were at best indifferent and seemed to allow the lobby to be used as a drinking den for all their mates. Despite what the brochure says, it's definitely not a family hotel, on a couple of occasions when my 11 year old daughter went out on to the balcony she had obscene sexually suggestive remarks shouted at her by other guests.
Fortunatley our rooms weren't burgled but a lot of other guests reported thefts. The Balkan staff did their best with the shows etc but they were fighting a losing battle as the hotel was so terrible. Upon return to the UK we filed a complaint with Balkan Holidays who said that the behaivour of other guests was not their problem. My advice is by all means go to Sunny Beach as it makes a great base for exploring Bulgaria (which is nothing like Sunny Beach) but if you're considering staying at the Hotel Pomorie after reading these reviews then you want your head looking at.

This hotel is the worst place we have ever stayed. We should have stayed for 14 nights but only stayed for 3!!
Thursday - We arrived at the hotel during the night on Thursday and was unable to get any sleep due to the very noisy Lazur Disco opposite.
Friday - On Friday daytime our phone in the hotel room rang several times but we did not answer it. People kept trying our door handle during the day and night. During the night (at 4am on Saturday morning) the phone rang again. This time we answered it just in case it was an emergency. A male receptionist said that he had an urgent message for us & that we must go to reception immediately. We locked our room & walked down the stairs. We passed 3 Bulgarian men (1 was a hotel receptionist who had taken us up to our room on our arrival). When we got to reception no one was there. A Bulgarian male walked over to me & said that my car had been damaged. He then changed his story to say that my car had been stolen. I told him that I did not have a car. He then pulled out a piece of paper with my full name on (with an incorrect letter added on) & details taken from my Facebook profile, which he had accessed to make up a plausible story. He said "is this not you?". I told him that my name was spelt incorrectly & that the town I lived in was different to the one he had written down. Luckily, a female receptionist then came over and we told her that we had received a message telling us to come to reception. She didn't know anything about it. She then went upstairs to find the male receptionist to ask him if he knew about it. The Bulgarian male also followed her. The female receptionist and Bulgarian male then returned and said that there had been a mistake and that the message was not for us.
We believe that the 3 men:
1) Wanted to steal the jewelry that my boyfriend was wearing at the time
2) To go into our hotel room while we had gone to reception to see what they could steal (by being let in with the receptionists key)
Saturday - On Saturday morning we went to see our rep who was great and reported the incident to the police, however nothing could be done as there was no evidence. She asked if we wanted to move rooms.
After the previous night’s incident, we could tell that thieves kept entering our room every time we went out. They were going through our bags etc looking for things to steal. They even stole small packets of coffee! When we were in our hotel room we could constantly hear people trying our door handle - during the daytime and at night. I was too scared to sleep so we barricaded the door using furniture in the hotel room.
Sunday - As thieves were still coming into our room we saw the rep again and said we didn't feel safe staying in the hotel. She then moved us into a fantastic hotel where we had no problems.
What seems to be happening here is that some of the male receptionists working nights are:
1) Tipping off the thieves which guests have just arrived & anything they spot eg jewelry/cash/electronics
2) Supplying thieves with hotel guests personal details so that they can research them on Facebook/the internet to make up plausible stories to get them out of their rooms
3) Letting Bulgarian thieves into the hotel rooms with keys
4) The male receptionists seem to have some sort of deal going with the thieves - maybe giving them a cut of what they steal. The hotel manager doesn't seem interested. The reps know that things are being stolen, but they said that they hadn't heard of them using the phone call tactic before. Luckily for us, the female receptionist wasn't in on the scam. If it wasn’t for her, we would have probably lost everything of value to us
What scares me the most is what would have happened if my boyfriend had gone to reception alone whilst I stayed in bed in the hotel room and then the 3 males entered?? And what he if he been mugged on the stairs by the 3 males??
This incident ruined the start of our holiday & I would never go back to this hotel and would advise everyone not to stay there. Other people in the hotel also told us that they had had large amounts of money stolen. The hotel is a joke!
However, the resort is great - just choose a 4* hotel which has more security!

Me and my friend booked this hotel because my friend had stayed in sunny beach before.
On arriving our first day we asked to put our money in a safe,To which we were told none were available till the following Monday?
We were led to our room only to find,Soiled mattresses and filthy carpets.
The next day we woke up a strange smell was coming from down the hall,I decided to follow and see where it was coming from.
It led me to the restaurant,It was the food.
in there there was birds flying around and the food itself you wouldn't give it to a dog.
Us being there self catering didn't have to eat it,Thank god!!
We decided to go to the bar in the main reception area,After 3-4 beers later moved on for a walk around to find a restaurant which was edible.
On the walk along the main street we were approached by several bar owners trying to get us in,Promising us English food bought from England.I think not.
This went on and on till we found an Irish bar called the lansdowne,Lovely food friendly people, this is where we went for the remainder on the holiday.
Monday morning arrived so we decided to go for breakfast and put our money in our suitcases.
Half hour later got back to our room only to find our money had been stolen (1500 Lev's)
It was deffently the cleaners coz they were the only ones who had keys to the door.
After a long argument with the manager the police arrived,They did not even speak English and never searched the cleaners.
The hotel reps didn't help atall or even offer an inturpritor,Several guests in the hotel had been robbed on the same floor probably by the same cleaners.
The items stolen ranged from expensive trainers to perfume and fags.
Luckily my friend never had his cash point card stolen,So managed to borrow me some money.
So about Wednesday we decided to go on a trip ran by the hotel to nessebar....BIG MISTAKE!!!!
About 2-3 miles down the road the coach caught fire,The rep was asleep and when woken by the screams didn't know how to open the emergency exits.
So we went to the emergency hammer place only to find no hammer there?
Luckly we managed to kick one of the widows out ond get everyone out safe,With no help from the driver or rep.
Upon arriving back to the hotel we were told this was the 3rd coach that week to catch fire with the same circumstances.
Again no help from the staff or reps..
I would say 90% of the guests in the hotel were upset with the service provided.
All inc meant you had little plastic cups with just local larger or pop allowed,No spirits. And the worst food ever.
All in all this was by far the worst holiday i have ever had,And will never go abroad again.
Stay away or risk your life !!!!!!!!!

visited Hotel Pomorie with my husband and 4yr old son for a week in aug 09 all inclusive, we booked this through the travel agent, and once i got back from booking it, read alot of awful reviews so was really worried about spending all that money and it been horrible.
we arrived in the early hours, and i must say the music from Lazur was not that bad!! we checked it very quickly and the staff all seemed pleasant and helpful, and we had a porter help us to the room (which was on the 4th floor at the back) and he didnt stand about waiting for a tip he just showed us where to put the keys to get the electrics to work,(which when he leaves i would rip some card to fit in the gap and them your fan will stay on even when ur not there!) and left, which surprised me as we had read they expected tips and was ready with a 2lev tip for him!
The room was basic, and with No air-con it was really stuffy, (we hired a fan for 4l lev a day well worth it!!) there was plenty of space to put your things although we planned to live mainly out of the suitcases, and hire a safe which was quite expensive at 38 lev for a week. again from reading the stories about robberies, but i must say by the middle of the week our things were everywhere, and the maids did a excellent job every day, even getting flowers left for us so again was very pleasantly surprised.
My Main dissapointment was the food,
we got up for breakfast nice and early and found it ok... we are not a family that are picky eaters so ate there for our meals for the first couple of days, but come the third morning of the same things my 4yr old refused to eat anything and to be honest i couldnt blame him! for example you would see meatballs for the evening meal and for the following lunch there would be meatball soup. the snack bar, i would personally say was more of a joke, we went all inclusive for the simple reason of havin a young child he could of had snacks and ice creams whenever he wanted, but Oh No! the few bits of food was left out all afternoon and had flys all over it, you got help yourself to ice cream, but personally i found this extremley disapointing.
drinks for all inclusive were also a bit of a joke, the 2 rule thing depended on who served you, and also seemed it you was female you would get as many as you wanted.
but when it was just 2 drinks each it was stupid, because been a small family couldnt leave our young son at the table so meant multiple trips for either me or my husband or loosing our seats outside, which were like gold dust as it is with about 6-7 patio tables for the whole hotel on the terrace outside.
The pool, well with our room been on the back of the hotel when we arrived and looked out of the room, we saw a lovely big pool, so when we got up we went and got some loungers and relaxed by the pool while our son played, the pool was gorgeous and never without loungers, the thing we didnt realise was it was the hotel fenix's pool!!
so once we visited our pool and couldnt find any loungers and the pool was very loud and full of men been very loud and boytirious and drunk we went back to the fenix's pool and used it for the remainder of our stay, no one ever said anything and i would reccomend this if you like a peaceful pool where young children can play. although our pool did look very nice, and had a swim up bar which is not included in all inclusive prices.
entertainment seemed ok, we spend most of ours nights away from the hotel due to lack of seating and the food and drinks were limited but when we did arrive back to watch the entertainment the seating area around the stage was always packed and as it was like a small ampitheatre if you couldnt get seats you couldnt see it.
my son also went to the kids club a couple of times and we just sat close by, the last day we were there they was a insdent where 2 children went missing for a few mins.
the location of this hotel was excellent, and bulgaria is a lovely place to visit, the beach was gorgeous, you can hire loungers and umbrellas close the the water i think i was 14 lev for 2 loungers and a further 6 for the umbrella, but well worth it, the beach is one of the best we have every visited.
also would reccomend garfields restaurant and las pamas both lovely places to eat, and very wellcoming for children.
i have tried to write this review with as much detail as possible, so the main points i would deff say that the hotel is not as bad and what the reviews say its only the food that was really disapointing.
and we would consider going back to sunny beach, but probably a different hotel, but dont let that put you off, its not the hotel that makes a hotel! :-)
hope everyone visiting sunny beach has a brilliant time (we didnt want to come home!!)

We booked to go to The Pomorie as a last minute cheap deal and were promised a lovely 3* hotel just outside the hussle and bustle of the town centre.
The transfer from the airport to the hotel was a little worrying as our names were never checked - it was our responsibility to get on the correct coach and get off at the right hotel.
On arrival at the hotel at around 1am we checked in and made our way up through the long corridors to our room. The outside door was jammed shut - we told the porter and he came to our assistance with a fork to try and allow us entry. This was not possible so he ran to another staircase and opened the door from the inside with a kick! On opening the door to our room an overwhelming smell met us - the CARPET in the room was saturated as the shower (which leaked badly every time) had been left on - a smell only describable as a hot wet dog and definately not what you want when tired from your journey. I was also horrified to see fire exits chained shut..I felt most upset and very unsafe. The hotel is situated on quite a busy road - definately not quiet and the car park is frequently used by people 'caught short' on the walk to the next bar
After that horrendous first impression things could only get better - although we did stay a night in another hotel to add a sense of luxury to the holiday the pool was fine, there were enough loungers to go around, and the weather was very good.
The Pomorie is not a 3* hotel in anyone's book, it could very easily be improved, it is ok for a very very basic base for a holiday - but as the reception staff advised us do not leave anything of value at all in the hotel as there have been 'problems'.

Please think well before contemplating a holiday at this hotel.
I went all inclusive but their idea of what is included is a farce.
The food is awful, barely edible. For example bananas cut into sections
and left uncovered and returned to the buffet again and again.
Limited bar opening for drinks, no availability for food or drinks
beside the pool, full prices to be paid and seating only for the use
of non inclusive guests. Children could only get ice cream, drinks and limited things like bread rolls during the day and at times outwith the set mealtimes.
At least the room was alright, kept clean by a good maid but no hair drier or air conditioning. Staff generally pleasant with a few notable exceptions.
Entertainment staff worked hard and did a good job.
This hotel needs a good shake up!!!!!!!!

We had a good time however I was not impressed with the hotel all inclusive selection of food as it was never different and very oily the hotel staff expecially the sports entertainers were pleasent but bar staff left a alot to desired. In my opinion I would not return to this hotel again due to the costs of the holiday it just wasnt value for money. In addtioned to the bad food we found ourselves eating out everyday so the all inclusive wrist band was pointless to us. There is very limited selection on free achol as well with mostly being just vodka that was drinkable. The larger was okay but given in half glasses so was a constant wait to get a drink. I was say the cleanleness was very good though clean towel, beds made and changed everyday plus the fact they do come around 11 o clock was a bonus after a heavy night. The resort of sunny beach was plesent night life was okay Orange was the best night club. However I do believe if it was for the people I went with due to all the things that went wrong food, bad weather, no smiles from Bulgarians, taxis prices, no air con anywhere my list is endless it would of been a complete waste of time and one big FLOP of a holiday. But big up the girls.

I couldnt agree more the food was terrible, the hotel was standard u get what you pay for but the worst thing about the hotel was that the average age must have been 70! And the reason the place is so depressing is because there is moaning old gits constantly walking round with grumpy faces its depressing the place is opposite some pubs and a club so obviously if ur old/family dont go! Staff were entertaining but like i say you get what you pay for! One more down side was the 2 prostitutes me and my fiend had sent to our room from one of the hotel staff very dodgy if u ask me!!!

On arrival at the hotel there is a porter who insists on taking u to ur room and at 4.30 in the morning after a long flight stood there arguing with us that his tip was too small!!!!
The room i have no complaint about we had a large family apartment, however, with glass balconeys that are falling apart, and large gaps where very young children can easily slip through, we had to be careful about leaving our doors open and the rooms weren't air conditioned.
The all inclusive only included beer, wine, soft drinks and certain spirits, not archers and malibu, and tea and coffee is only all inclusive at certain times of the day, not after 5.30pm, which didnt suit some of our party as some didnt drink. All drinks are served in plastic cups, only 2/4 bars were all inclusive. The staff don't speak good english and niether does the manageress, and they often sit at the bar smoking instead of serving. They changed every night whether the bar would allow 2 drinks at a time or more, it seemed to depend on whether or not they could be bothered. The beer in about 1/4 of a pint, and the soft drinks kept on running out and took days to fix.
There is 1 male and 1 female toilet for the whole hotel to use downstairs, we were told there was another, but it was locked up when we tried to use it.
Cleanliness was very good, however we had to put up with the slops food they served up as we couldnt afford to eat out, the meat wasnt labelled and was full of bones so both us and the kids lived on chips and pasta.
Balkan holidays are by far the worst company to book up with, 1 in every 3 rows of seats has air conditioning, our kids had to strip off durning flight, the staff make hardly any contact with u and the piolet doesn't give out any information during the long flight, there is no in flight entertainment and the drinks trolly came around once in the 3 and 1/2 hour flight.
On the return flight when i filled out the questionnaire about the flight and put what a rubbish flight it was, the air hostesses ganged up on me while i went to the toilet questioning me why i thought they were so bad and started to have a go, i said i was entitled to my opinion, skipped the toilet and quickly sat back down. Then when we left the plane they said something, which i'm guessing wasn't nice, in Bulgarian to me infront of my children, needless to sday i'm very happy to be home!

we went to this hotel in a group of 16 and would never ever go again
the food was a joke it was cold and tasted terrible, the rooms were filthy we had a room on the bottom floor which was street level the curtains did not stay up and the matress was all stains the shower rail fell down there was squashed bugs all over the walls.
the hotel was not running to an all inclusive level we ended up spending over two grand on eating out as we wouldnt of expected our dog to eat here let alone our children
this hotel is situated oppisite a night club which blasts loud music until about 5am
theft was rife in the hotel my friend had her room broken into stealing most of her valuable items the staff said that the police wouldnt come out as they were too busy
All in all please dont waste your hard earned money holidaying in this hotel.
Im not at all saying that sunny beach isnt a nice place the beach itself is amazing just steer well clear of the hotel x

There was 7 of us that went last year 4 adults 3 children and we loved it. Before we went we read the comments and were a bit worried but they wern't true. We had an amazing time. My 3 kids loved the kids club they did lots of activites with them and looked after them so the adults could have a relaxing holiday as well. The food was great we had no problem what so ever and my daughter is a fussy eater and there she loved the food there was alot of choices in the food selection. The pools were really good. The kidies pool was a good size and so was the big one they were very relaxing. The staff were kind and helpful they always spoke to you and had a good time with you always they did amazing entertainment as well the shows were great. The rooms were big and roomy. Theres alot of storage to put clothes and in a family room you get a fridge that was ideal for me the varanders were shut in and a bit more safer there was cleaners that came in everyday and clean fresh towels were hanged none of my stuff was stolen. In the lobby area they let the children free and i felt more relaxed because i always feel when your some were you keep saying dont run about or come sit down here they dont like children carrying on so that was a bonus point for that. The bar men were great i found after the first week they got to know your orders eg they always new my daughter wanted a coke and sprite that shows you they are good people. In my opinion this place is amazing i would reccomend you to visit nessie bar and go on the jeep safarri my children loved that over all this is a great hotel and is amazing for kids im going back in 2010 i loved itt that much to the same hotel
