Ikaros Hotel

It never got below 35C during the day in the last week of June. We'd chosen the Ikaros from our tour company's brochure because of the favourable reviews on TripAdvisor. Our experience was that the reviews were a little generous. The property is well-maintained, clean and attractive, but the rooms were quite small and the air conditioning was not THAT efficient making for some uncomfortable nights. I like small to medium size studio hotels with quiet exterior places for relaxing and friendly owners who care for their guests and dont see only money in their eyes. The Ikaros offered all this to me during my stay in May. It is located at the border of Chora but the down-town area and a supermarket are still in walking distance. We stayed 5 weeks at Ikaros Studios on a working vacation. The Grivas family who own the hotel could not have been more accommodating. Plus the hotel has broadband internet service which was very important for our choice. The hotel is in a quiet part of town that is about a 5 minute walk to St. George's Beach and equally to a large grocery store and bakery. The Ikaros is located just away from the beach. However the roadway leading to and from the hotel is fronted by a public trash dump that was not cleaned while my fiance and I were there at the end of May. It was an absolute eye sore. Also, there is small abandoned hotel directly across from the Ikaros that also adds to the misery of the aesthetics. Our room was not cleaned every day and when it was a very shoddy job was done. We stayed two weeks at the Ikaros, and it was a very friendly place to stay. Our hosts were most helpful, rooms were large, spacious and spotlessly clean. The complex is small, but in a very quiet position with a nice pool area and beautiful gardens. Could not fault anything about it and would return to these studios without hesitation. We have just returned from our 3rd visit to Naxos – the previous two visits we stayed at the Galaxy Hotel. However despite the good beach position of the Galaxy it is basically apartments with hotel prices. We read the reviews about the Ikaros Studios and decided they sounded very good. The apartments are situated about a 5 minute walk from a large supermarket, open air cinema and bakery. 10 minutes walk takes you to the beach and approximately 20 minutes walk to the harbour front. Stayed at the Ikaros end of July, beginning of August 2005 on my second visit to Naxos. The owner and his family are so friendly but in an unobtrusive way. All I can really say is that it was a joy to stay at Ikaros and I will definitely consider staying there if I visit Naxos again!

The Ikaros studios proved to be yet another gem discovered in this our 3rd summer holday in Naxos. The owner and his family are there to welcome you to the complex as they hand you the key to your studio. The studios are spotlessly clean (cleaned every day) with air conditioning and television.Each studio has it's own balcony or terrace which is great if at any time you wish to have your own personal space away from the pool area (especially at night where you can sit with a cool glass of wine and gaze up at the stars). I went at Ikaros Studios with my family in the end of July! It's really difficult to express with words how wonderfull my vacation was! First of all, Naxos is one of the most beautiful Greek Islands I've ever been! There are so many beautiful things to see there that I felt that I don't want to leave from this place! Wonderfull beaches, incredible sunset from "Portara" and hospitable people is what makes Naxos the best! all the things i have to say.. i can resume it in one word WOW! that's really an amazing place.. the hotel is really nice and the staff are really welcoming.. it's not in the center of the village and that's really nice it's a place where u can relaxe and they have a really nice pool too.. i'll go back there for sure
