Loved the Globus

Stayed here on my 5th visit to Sunny Beach. Very pleased with our room, myself and partner sharing and my dad next door, an ajoining door was there if we wanted to use it. We stayed at the back of the hotel looking onto the street at the back but good for people watching. 5 lifts in the hotel, 1 a full glass lift with panoramic views of the beach and prom. The room was large with great airconditioning, quite big with nice bathroom, cleaned daily when we were out of the room, we stayed up a little late so wanted a lie in but it became obvious that the maids couldn't leave unless you put the sighn on the door handle saying you didn't want it cleaning, as we left it a few times unaware and after our lie in, where the maid had came into the room whilst we were still in bed or knocked us up, she would glare at us when we came out and made us feel uncomfertable, who doesn't want a lie in when they've had a late night? Pool was nice and clean, needed to be up early to get a bed but if not the beach was so close by and is beautiful, lovely sand and no litter. Close by to the main street of bars but watch out for the prostitutes that chased my dad along the beach, they are very forward when aproaching and a friend of ours was distracted by 3 who circled him - 2 being very suggestive whilst the other expertley took his wallet and phone from his pockets, just a warning to keep away. The hotel was nicely decorated throughout and always spotlessley clean. The food wasn't up to much but was edible, we used to have the soup every night and then go out for a meal elsewhere later on but that was through choice and wanting to try different plaes. Weather was great the first week, rained the last couple of days. Overall a great stay and would stay again if i went back to Sunny Beach
Great Holiday
from wales_flyby
My husband and I stayed here with our 10 month old daughter in July 2007. We were a bit dubious about booking Bulgaria having read some good and some not too good things but we are so glad that we did. The Globus was spotlessly clean the room was spacious and everything felt new. The staff werent the most heplful we've come across but that didnt bother us. We never ate at the hotel so we can not comment on the food. We found some great paces to eat and every where is so cheap that i dont see the point in going half board. We booked a cheap last minute and the holiday offered us everything we were looking for. We sat by the pool during the Day then went for a nice meal and a stroll along the promanade in the evening. I thought that Bulgaria would have been a lot more british than it was but it wasnt a problem. We are definatley going to go back this year it really was a fantastic holiday. The only problem we had was that there was no or very little entertainment any where which could be a bit of a problem with children that are a bit older than my daugter (10 months). If you are going to go on any trips i would highly recommend Khans Tent. It was a really fantastic family night out, traditional Bulgarian food (which was awful, but i am a fussy eater) but that all adds to the character fo the evening and a full nights enertainment from gymnasts to cabaret. It really is highly recommended. On a whole i loved Bulgaria and The Globus and would go back in a minute
Great Location for cheap and cheerful break
from prettyinpink88
Myself and 2 best friends booked this hotel on a last minite deal. We stayed for 7 nights half board. On arrival at the hotel the friendly staff checked us in and the porter showed us to our room. The room was very spacious, there was a large armchair, tv, hairdryer, mini-bar (prices in mini bar are ridiculously cheap!) and balcony with table and chairs. We arrived late so next morning we had a look around the hotel and the facilities, it has a huge indoor pool and games room, bowling alley and 2 bars. i do have to say that one down side to the hotel was the food, it was pretty dismal, and not very hot. Having said that, although we booked half board, we ended up eating out every meal as it was so cheap and there are some fabulous pizza restaurents. The nightlife in sunny beach is pretty good, better than we had expected. We found some great bars and the drinks are buy 1 get 2 free! The weather in September was sunny, about 22/25 degrees. The resort itself is like benidorm, very british and with lots of english bars and cafes. The fake designer handbags and belts are very cheap and quite good standard. The beach has a Blue Flag award and therefore there is hardly any litter and the sand is gorgeous, great for families and teenagers as the watersports are fantastic. All in all, i enjoyed the holiday, although the resort was very british it was good fun and cheap.

Nice rooms, awful food
from MuzDog
Rooms were bright and clean, but the food here was awful. Booked half board but, after the first night, we decided to eat out for the rest of our stay (it's pretty cheap to eat out anyway). The buffet-style breakfasts were not much better, with limited choice and a bit of a bun fight everytime staff brought a tray of hot stuff out. Staff were mixed - some friendly, some rude. There was also limited parasols in the outside pool, which you had to pay for the use of. The pool itself was pretty crowded. I liked the indoor pool, though - big and usually pretty quiet. The hotel was nice and central so easy to get to other eateries, bars and beach. Overall, not that impressed with Sunny Beach. Will be a few years before it is up to the standard of other resorts.
would just go B&B food was awful
from smiddy85
The hotel was ok the staff worked very hard and were very polite. the food in the hotel was awful we ate out every night, it was very cheap to eat out, we ate most nights in the chilli peppers the food was very good in there. you have to be down very early to get a sunbed which most of them are broken, but the beach is very nice and sunbeds are a plenty. there are gypsy children on the prom asking for money, i found that quite awful, very sad. watch yourselfs with taxis in nessebar we got done a taxi usually costs 15 - 20 levs we were charged 105levs for a cab back to the hotel from the taxi rank saying sunny beach, so be sure and ask a price first. dont use the kiosks for changing money, there was one booth across the road from our hotel that the guy ended up away in handcuffs, at least the tourist got his money back on that occasion. i hope this was of help to you
The Best Holiday Ever!
from shayman123
There were eight of us in our party and we all thought that it was an excellant hotel. Dionis the holiday rep is lovely young man we met him three years ago on our last visit and he still remembered us. It is an all round clean hotel, the rooms were spacious with a large bathroom, the fridge and air condition were a god send. The facilties were excellant, including outdoor and indoor pool, pool tables, table tennis, snooker, gym [which one of our members used nearly everyday], bowling alley [was a good night and good value for money, we recomend it, it is a right laugh]. The restaurant was very clean and had polite staff especially Danny and Vasko, The food was good, especially the pancakes at breakfast, and a variety of soups every night at the evening meal, nice breads and desserts, salads and fruits. My daughter is a fussy eater but every night she found something she liked especially the lamb moussaka. The drinks were cheaper at the indoor pool bar and the barmaid was very friendly and worked very hard. The sun terrace near the indoor pool, was a nice place to have a drink and chill day and night. We enjoyed our stay in sunny beach again, the beaches were clean and tidy, we recommend the blue moutain trip especially the chair lift ride. Good bars and nightclubs, cheap drinks, happy hour lasts all night [mostly on cocktails], lots of good shops. Aquapark is a must do! its really fun for all the family at 28 lev which is around £10 per person all day. Must go to nessebar if you would like to see the culture of bulgaria, 15 lev for the boat across or a 45 minute walk along the beach. The banana boat was the best thing on the beach, its really fun and worth its money of 10 leva. THE KEBAP MAN ACROSS FROM THE HOTEL, HE MADE FRESH EXCELLANT CHICKEN KEBAPS AND JACKET POTATOES ALL FOR JUST 5 LEV EACH! The tropicana is a good place for live music and food. GO SEE LORA! SHES ACE! GOOD NIGHT OUT! A few bad points. Couple of rude reception staff. Beach bar mania across from the hotel played loud music every saturday and sunday. Really annoying and repetative. We are totally recommending this hotel to anyone. We had the best holiday Ever! From The Adams Family Of Wakefield!
never again

One week at the Globus is enough to last anyone a lifetime.... awful food . rude staff , 396 rooms . 81 sunbeds ,( most of them broken, all of them filthy ) 12 brollies (charge of 5 lev ) .... banging loud music all night so no sleep to be had. This hotel is fully owned by Balkan Holidays and therefore it's 4 star rating is given by them. I know for a fact that no self respecting British tour operator would even give it a three, It is a well known fact that most of the hotel properties ect are owned by the Bulgarian/Russian mafia and that most complaints tend to fall on deaf ears. In addition any of the cash exchanges along the front unless they are called crown are also mafia owned, don't ever believe the "commission free" it would only apply if you were changing thousands of pounds. Now about the Globus hotel, the pool is not safe to swim in although it is cleaned every other day it is not cleaned properly, one guest found a 6 inch rusty nail in the deep end, half of the mosaic tiling is missing from the bottom of the pool, depth markings are very small and very faint, the drains used to carry away excess water are filthy and a breeding ground for all sorts of bacteria. Rooms although adequate are fresh but beware of the beds and the bathroom. The beds are either very cheap and nasty or very old (probably both!) the spings inside the mattress can be felt no matter how you lie, most have been covered with a mattress cover but it has made no difference. In the bathroom beware of stepping out of the shower, the floor is usually like a swimming pool, although there is a drain in the middle the floor slopes in the wrong direction and drainage in general is extremely slow. Rooms are cleaned daily but the standard is very low, it takes a maid on average about 3 mins to do a room. The food is dire to say the least and the restaraunt layout leaves a lot to be desired. A lot has to be said about the hotel rep, he is charming, funny and very curtious, (as long as he is taking money from you!) try getting him to deal with a complaint and you are subject to being called a liar, the rep had the cheek to tell my wife that she was lying unaware that we knew about the group of 30 people who had gone to complain the day before, as well as everything you say being deliberately taken out of context, and lets not forget the favourite saying "We have not had any other complaints this season" B*****KS !! as if you are the only one to complain!!! My best advice to anyone who has booked "CANCEL AND GO ELSWHERE!" STAY AWAY FROM BULGARIA!!! As for the flight, it is a 3.5 hour flight, with no inflight entertainment, seriously crap food and £2 for one can of coke. I feel as does my wife that it would have been more fun and less expense to have gone to blackpool for two weeks, we ended up spending more than we had intended through having to eat out. If I could prove it (though I can't) I would say that the hotels and the restaraunts are working in collaberation with one another, you have already paid the hotel for your half/full board but the food is so horrible that you have to eat out.
Food terrible
from GreenockNorrie
We spent a week at the Globus Hotelin July2007. Can not fault the hotel for cleanliness, rooms, location. I cannot say how bad the food was-it was awful.Ended up going out every night for our meals. Had a meal in the hotels a-la-carte resteraunt which wasexcellent but you have to pay for this. You have to be up at about five o'clock tobook a lounger Would advise anyone going to sunnybeach togo bed and breakfast as there are some very good tavernaswith good food and entertainment.
worst food ever

just spent a week in the four star hotel globus sunny beach, the facts that are good room good size (small shower no bath) good view if you face the beach but noise from bar across the way. the food was terrible i am not a fussy eatter and been to some strange place's in eastern europe but this took the biscuit will no because i had to eat it. breakfast hard fried eggs, dried scrambled eggs, if you hit lucky fresh would arrive, belly pork once IE bacon and strange sausage's,dining hall too small for amount of people staying in the hotel staff overworked maybe short staffed at times ,waiting for tables to be cleared or no tables at all. evening meals did not fair much better strange selects of products mostly cold and poor in presention and tasteless raw chicken once with hint of blood ,chips every night, water based mash one night and the smallest jacket spuds in the world. some of the food a can not describe brussel sprouts in white sauce/salad cream after the fourth day a party of fellow guests stormed the balkin head office which is in the globus hotel spot check were made to the canteen but on all times the staff had been made aware. IN all for two us £980 for jam and bread for breakfast and chip butties for tea that was the best of half board.we have our complaint form sighed by the manager and ready to post now on our return to england from the not so sunny beach stuart and enid not happy chappys
My partner and i stopped at the globus sept 2011. we found the hotel about average more 2 to 3 star. On arrival in middle of night after check in had to wait to be shown to room as usual a con to obtain tips. After a sleep decided to have a shower only to be flooded out... more
