I found this to be the worst holiday i have ever had. The globus Hotel is supposed to be a 4 star. the person who did this rating was either blind or someone who was related to the owner. firstly the food was appauling. i wouldnt even feed it to a dog. there was a selection of food but nothing that went together, eg: fish soup, sweet n sour chicken, burgers, a mixed rice substance and chips. all was cooked very badly with no flavour. i only had a dinner once. i had a little taste and left it. there was 4 of us in our party who didnt dare to eat the rancid food. we never ate there again. we went elsewhere or breakfast and dinner which added expence to the holiday. luckily we didnt have a budget for the holiday. i feel sorry for the guests who did.
another experience was with the cleaners and the reception staff. my partner had had a good night out and got back into the hotel at 7 in the morning. i left the room at around 9:30 and put the Do Not Disturb tag on the door. he was asleep naked on the bed and the cleaner just let herself in and started cleaning around him. as she left she slamed the door so hard it woke him up. he got dressed straight away and went to complain to reception. as he was explaining this to the reseption staff all they did was laugh at him which made him really angry. he did ask them why they was laughing and they just said nothing.
i will never go there again. everything in the shops are fakes and over priced. all the bars promote a beer for either 1 or 2 Lev. you could dring this all day without feeling tipsy. it must be about 0.1% vol.
i read all the reviews before i went and they all said exaclty as i found it. they was all correct.

Thi was the 4th ime in a row staying at the globus hotel and it will definatekly be the last time i stay at the globus hotel. The staff at reception were very ignorant and very rude. The food was absolutley appaling during my week stay i had 1 meal in there we had gone half board but had to spend lots of money eating out.The last 3 times we went the food wasnt great but it was acceptable this year it was appauling no choice hardly anything there.the past 3 years the dinning room was very clean the staff were very helpful got you drinks etc cleaned round your table etc. this year the staff wwere in clothes that looked like they had not seen a washer the staff never asked if you would like a drink the table clothes wernt clean and no cutlery i asked for cutlery and was told to move out the way.my door card wouldnt work so asked at the reception for help i had it snatched from me and another 1 thrown at me the cleaning standhards had deteriated from previous years. we were very dissapointed with the hotel in general and will never stay there again. sunny beach its self was fine people bit annoying pestering you to go in bars etc but there was a few nice places to eat the neptune for 1 the staff were lovely and friendly and would help in any way they could and served lovely food.

We have just returned from a 1 week stay at the Globus hotel sunny beach. The hotel complex was very good the rooms were serviced well with clean towels every day. There were eight of us on a Birthday celebration and we all had similar complaints whilst being there which were mainly the staff's attitude towards the customers which was usually very rude or apathetic. The best scam we encountered was the one at the bar downstairs were each time you ordered a drink, the staff never had any change, so if the drink was 4 lev and you only had 5 lev the round would end up costing you 5 Lev only getting a blank expression from the bar staff when requesting change, not a bad earner on every drink sold though. The only time you got a smile (or it may have been wind) was when you were parting with your money.
The breakfast was just about edible with a variety of cooked meats cheeses and eggs (lots of eggs), once you had obtained your breakfast delights you had to fight for a table to eat it on, the staff in the food hall were very rude and understaffed.
Away from the hotel Nessebar is worth a trip and the beaches are beautiful, ideal for a relaxing break. The beer is cheap between 1 & 3 lev but you can tell the cheaper beer is watered, You can get passable food if you shop around, steer clear of the larger bars that offer entertainment and food they don,t excel at both.
Watch out for the rough looking guys trying to offer you a free grape! once you try their taster, they either want 6 lev for the taster or 18 lev for a small bunch, if you refuse they get quite aggressive. We saw several people falling for it and the arguments that ensued.
My overall comment on the Globus hotel complex is that the hotel is fine with no serious complaints,if you can go on a room only basis thats fine, but if Bulgaria are to be accepted into the EU then their people skills must improve dramatically.
At present it is great for a cheap break but most holiday makers would not be prepared to pay the increased prices we know will happen once they become part of the EU .

Lets get this right - most Sunny Beach hotels are the same - the food is bland. The Globus have lost the plot however.
Only 40 minutes in service on several nights the main course - always pork has ran out with the satff running round shouting 'finished'.
We spent about 500 leve eating out.
The staff have become surly and uncooperative.
The bars and restaurant have been 'outsorced' - cue a striung of complainst a a near lynching of the manageress one night.
The lower part of the hotel is a lovelt building well cleaned- the bedrooms although jaded are well cleaned,
The problem is down to management.
Just for info there were 56 complainst in ten days from guests.
Again for info - the catering mangeress told me that the Globus only provides 4 Leve (£1.90) per guest for breakfast and evening meal with 1.50 taken out of that for staffing costs. That is the problem. The management of the hotel are paid by Balkan £5.50 per gusts while they charge us £24 per day - theres the profit margins coming in.
Forget the Globus for a couple of years they have lost it.

OPERATOR
Don't get me wrong, I would travel with Balkan Holidays again, they were efficient. They should however reconsider using the Globus Hotel and the in-flight meals provided to customers.
FLIGHTS
The flights were OK, on time, and by A320 Airbus but there was no in flight entertainment and the food was useful only in that it served to pass some time. Breakfast was luke warm - Frankfurter sausage with some black beans and baked bell pepper followed by a piece of cake. Meanwhile the flight attendants didn't seem to think passengers mattered.
RESORT
Sunny Beach is Bulgaria's answer to Faliraki, Aya Nappa and Magaluf. It is 4 miles of bars and restaurants (most with karaoke or loud music), casinos and typical beach type shops. We were constantly pestered by invitations to eat or drink at every bar etc.
and don't be fooled by the "Happy Hours" or beer at 1 Lev (50p) a pint. You could drink the beer all night with no effect and the cocktails were half the size we expect and mainly ice. I also suspect they use the cheaper versions of drinks rather than the well known ones. Also be aware that the promenade is full of electric cars and scooters and pedalled rickshaw type vehicles which you have to avoid.
The beach and the sea are fine but if you hire 2 loungers and an umbrella they are 7 Leva each per day (£10!).
Public buses are good and cheap - 1 Lev to get to Nessebar which is worth a visit. Sozopol is also nice but an hour and a half away (18 Leva return).
GLOBUS HOTEL
We had a lovely room on the 6th Floor overlooking the pool and the beach. It was clean and towels were replaced daily. Hotel entertainment was a girl singer who was very good and she finished at midnight. We were unaffected by noise etc. from other sources which went on through the night. The pool was very nice (if a bit small) and, whilst the limited number of loungers were free, the lifeguard charged 5 Leva for an umbrella.
Staff in the main were not very friendly and reception had little information such as bus timetables and where to catch buses. Bar staff were inclined to not give change, claim not to have any change and on one occasion pocketed the money without using the till. We were also slightly bemused when the contents of the mini bar and the spare toilet roll were removed from our room on the last day - presumably in case we stole them!
The big let-down however was the restaurant, in our case the Aqua. Everyone was complaining and many chose to eat elsewhere. It is no wonder that at 8 p.m. one night only 12 people were eating there. I don't blame the chef, food when you could get it was tasty, it was the lack of variety, availability and any organisation of the staff who all seemed to cover the whole area (badly) rather than a specific patch.
It was staffed by teenagers wearing trainers and jeans - 4* hotel?? They spent most of their time chatting to each other whilst used crockery built up at the end of the tables and constantly failed to notice when food trays were empty and glasses and cutlery had run out. The food available at breakfast and in the evenings hardly varied and most of the time there were no labels to say what the food was. At breakfast there were only 2 choices of cereal and usually 3 choices of sausage - we only saw bacon twice in 11 days. In the evenings there were 2 soups (usually unidentified)and on one occasion the soup resembled mid grey undercoat. On 2 days the main meat dishes were sausage or chicken wings then fish fingers or chicken wings. Is this 4 star catering for an adult's main meal? More like childrens' party food and we rated it as 1*! The desert menu was also unchanging, a limited selection of fresh fruit with blackening bananas, jelly, ice cream, sponge cakes and some very sweet pastries.
The hotel needs to consider seriously the presentation of the staff, the menus and get a manager in if it is to merit 4 stars and Balkan Holidays should make this a requirement of continuing to use the hotel. My advice at present is "Eat elsewhere".

we went to the globus for 2 weeks and i must recommend this to kids and adults the family rooms are absolotley outstanding and the beds are really comfy the adults can just relax because your child will be occupied at all times. the hotel is located right in the centre and looks over the beach. the pool is great and there are always sunbeds free. the adults can spend some quailty time in the hotel gym and the kids will be having fun in the game room. the people in the hotel are really friendly and so are the staff. when we the weather was great but we have heard that in bulgaria the weather is unpredictable but dont let that put you off because the hotel is great. the food is good in the hotel and the service is even better. go here you will really enjoy.

I have just read the review from crossy 66 and would like to support everything that was said. In addition to those comments I would like to add that the Globus Hotel, although clean, is in no way a four star. I was moved here as my original hotel, The Chaika Beach, was overbooked. Apparently this is common with Balkan Holidays as I spoke to at least five other groups in the Globus who had been booked at the Chaika or Victoria Palace and ended up in the Globus. The staff were extremely rude and I had to complain to reception, who were not interested. My son ate breakfast once as it was eggs, eggs and more eggs. They had a sign up in the restaurant that stated it was forbidden to take food from the restaurant, I don't think they would have to worry about that! Every time I went to the bar I was charged a different price for the same drink depending on who was serving at the time. I was often charged 1 or 2 levs more than the advertised price and the waitresses seemed to think it was okay to keep your change, I never got offered any and often had to ask for it as i only believe in tipping for good service which doesn't happen at the Globus. The overcharging and keeping of change is common everywhere in Sunny Beach. Please be careful of the golf carts which are available for rent all over Sunny Beach. They are rented to anyone, often as young as 13 or 14 years old. They are often driven by people who are drunk and there was a family at the Globus who had only been in the resort for 2 hours when they were run over by a drunk Bulgarian in a golf cart and got quite badly injured.Hope you are both feeling better Scott and Chelsea from Aberdeen. The police were very unsympathetic to any problems. I had £300 of travellers cheques disappear and had to wait 2 days for a police report, which I had to spend sitting outside the police station. Scott, from Aberdeen, was still waiting for a police report 7 days after he was run over! This was quite a cheap holiday, just over £1,000 for two of us for 2 weeks B&B, but I would never go back. Nothing much to do for my 14 year old and on the last day of the holiday he made me promise never to take him back to Bulgaria! I think that says it all.

We have been to Sunny Beach three times and stayed at the Globus twice. We found the hotel very clean, breakfast was very nice, coffee very strong tea very week lots of food choice for breakfast. We had a very good holiday although we found Bulgaria quite a bit more expencive and lots of rain this year. Please be aware of some of the pick pockets that stand just outside of the Globus Hotel at the back by the Italian resterant they all wear dark clothes jeans and jackets we are told they are gypsies they are all women a and stand in groups of two to five they tend to target single men they walk up to them and link them before you know it they have your wallet. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ALL YOUR MONEY OUT AT ONCE and do not carry any valubles such as passports. My husband and I walked down to Viking with our girls and watched two of them walk off the beach link two lads who where a bit drunk and take there money this time we were able to tell the lads and they got nothing. They hit the night clubs and take what they like, once outside there was a man who flashed a small light at the girls they disapeared down a back street with the man when the police came to serch the women they had nothing on them. I FEEL THE NEED TO TELL PEOPLE OF THIS AS WHEN WE WHEN TO THE HOTEL RECEPTION AND INFORMED THEM OF WHAT HAD JUST HAPPEND AND ASKED THEM TO GET THE POLICE THE STAFF DID NOT WHANT TO KNOW THEY TOLD ME IF I WANTED THE POLICE I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR AN INTERPRETER, THEY JUST DONT WHANT TO GET INVOLVED.

This was the second holiday I had at Sunny Beach, the first was two years ago. The main comment I want to post is - watch out for the Jim Beam bar! We went there as we liked it on our last visit and all was pretty much the same until we went to leave. In the centre of the entrance/exit at the front was, unbeknown to me, a low concrete post. I didn't see it and tripped over it. To cut a long story short, I injured my fingers (turned out to be torn ligaments in one which will take 6 weeks to heal), was bleeding on my knee and ankle got some horrendous bruises and suffered from shock. The position of the posts is positively dangerous. While I was sitting down trying to regain my composure, someone else tripped in the same place but luckily didn't fall. I wasn't drunk, perhaqps if I had been it wouldn't have hurt so much! I complained to the young man outside (the one who tries to get people into the bar), he said that someone had smashed in their face and broken their nose by falling over this post. I said that they should move the furniture so that the posts were all covered (some already were), there was an improvement when we passed a couple of days later. So be careful if you visit there!
Re the rest of the holiday, we returned to the same hotel - the Globus - as we liked it so much the first time. The rooms are lovely, they have aircon and a minibar, nice and clean, towels changed daily. Our room this time was at the front of the hotel overlooking the beach and promenade. It can be noisy with the balcony door open as the nightlife goes on so late but it's quiet with the door shut, no need to leave it open, just use the aircon. Fortunately we only booked B & B and didn't actually make it down to beeakfast anyway. People who were on half board complained that the food was awful and that if you went down for dinner much after 6 p.m. there was nothing left. Who wants dinner at 6?!! Unless you're five years old! Apparently they'd sacked the chef just before we left so maybe the quality will improve.
Sunny Beach is a great fun resort, we particularly like the Mex bar just up the road at the beach front. There's also a fantastic modern bar further along near the Neptun Hotel.
We used a number of different restaurants and had good food in all of them. The waitresses were very pleasant and obliging in all of them.
