Just returned after spending 2 weeks at Sammys and I must say that it is the friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in. The hotel is spotless and the staff couldn't do enough to help. The pool area is beautiful and the swim up bar was just what the doctor ordered as the weather was sunny and hot every day. The food and drink prices were comparable to most places in Kyrenia, but it was nice to walk into town and sit and watch the world go by down at the harbour.
The Corner Restaurant serves a lovely 3 course menu for 29 lira and Peanuts just outside of town is also excellent value for money. It takes 15 minutes to walk into town, although some of the footpaths are not to clever and some of the lighting doesn't work. Overall Kyrenia is a great place to take a holiday, although I would not recommend it for the younger generation, and Sammys hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing holiday. The hotel certainly deserves more than the 2 stars it currently has and we will definitely be returning in the near future.

Having read a poor review from a holiday maker in July 2006 I can only say I am pleased not to have read it before we went last month.
We found the hotel spotless, the staff so efficient and caring, we felt could not have asked for more. The restaurant waiter went to great pains and more than one try to get our granddaughters eggs "just perfect".
Yes the surrounding areas are what one should expect in Northern Cyprus and care is needed on walking. The taxi service and bus service are cheap and frequent, no problems. There are good beaches within a short distance by Dolmus.

My wife and I have just returned from a two week holiday at Sammy's hotel.
The holiday was organised by Anatolian Sky with a flight from Bristol to Larnaca then onward transport to Kyrenia.
It was our first visit to North Cyprus and we were pleased with the location of the hotel.
The staff were friendly and very helpful, dealing with minor problems promptly. The room was comfortable with a balcony and there was a high standard of cleanliness both in the bedrooms and the public rooms.
The pool was brilliant and the pool service outstanding.
I consider an upgrade to a three star hotel is merited. If we return to Kyrenia Sammy's will be our first choice of accommodation.

Booked to stay at hotel due to good reports, upon arrival (Wednesday 5th July 1900hrs) were given a room at the rear of the hotel overlooking some conifer trees & a building site. Went down to reception to ask about changing to another room, after insisting to move rooms, were given a room overlooking the new harbour.
Food at hotel all to a reasonable standard but not many British holidaymakers to mix with.
On morning after arrival went to pool area found several building sites next to hotel, constant grinding/drilling going on, so went off for a walk to the town/harbour.
Returned to hotel thinking building sites would close for a siesta in the afternoon but the noise continued all afternoon.
Attended the welcome party at 1545 which was held on the patio only to be disturbed by the site noise again.
After the welcome party we asked the Cyprus paradise representative if we could be moved to another hotel which was completed courteously.
We moved the following morning to the Pia Bella hotel after paying a supplement to upgrade. We were happy to have made the move and enjoyed the rest of our holiday.

This was our first visit to Northern Cyprus and Sammy's Hotel. Were very impressed by the friendly staff, the hotel was spotlessly clean, having just been refurbished to a very high standard, really comfortable.
Breakfast was very good, usual cold items but you also had a choice of scrambled egg and sausage, bacon was extra cost but my husband tells me it was delicious! The al a carte menu was satisfactory. Nice touch was tea and coffee making facilities in room plus a fridge. Peanuts Restaurant close by was excellent with views overlooking the sea - wonderful!
We didn't venture into the town too often due to the impression of taking your life in your hands with the pavements and the traffic. The harbour was pretty but the rest left a lot to be desired. Not a place for shop-aholics.
Bellapais Village was delightful, with several places to eat and the Abbey to visit, taxi ride was 10TL. each way.
N.Cyprus has been likened to a building site, which is true and several places are akin to Bierut, but the people are friendly, and Nicosia is a very interesting place to visit, especially the Buyuk Han, an oasis of peace and tranquillity.
Cyprus Paradise were excellent and I can recommend Sammy's Hotel, which is around 10-15 minutes walk to the harbour.
