Hotel Moka

We ( Belgian couple, 50+) stayed 6 nights in Hotel Moka (----) in April 2006 and are very pleased we chose this budget hotel. We booked two single rooms, found them large enough (with a comfortable double bed), and well equipped (TV, minibar, hairdryer, airco, shower, WC, ..). The rooms were thoroughly cleaned, beds made up and new towels provided daily. The staircases and the elevator smelled of soap every morning. I stayed at Hotel Moka during the Eurovision Period as I was in Athens to cover the event , I'm a journalist in my country Turkey. It was lovely and I did not find something wrong with it except that the bathroom was a little bit smaller than what I am used at , at home. I've seen other talking about the matresses which in my room was jut fine concidering , I wasn't home in my own bedroom.The breakfast wasn't just bread ,cheese and ham ...I stayed there from the 14th until the 23rd of the month and every day I found boiled eggs,... more

I have stayed in quite a number of similar class of hotels in Europe over the past few years and feel that Moka is not there yet. I stayed 4 nights in 3 different rooms and only 1 room is satisfactory. The first room has shower curtains which are too short and water just splashed out all over the tiny bathroom. The third room has short shower curtains which cannot close fully and as a result, the bathroom is flooded everytime I take a bath. One of its bed has a faulty mattress and sags completely way down. Situated between Omonia and Victoria stations, the hotel is on a side street about 7-10min walk from Ononia Square. The hotel has a small lobby and helpful staff whom all speak English well and offer advice. The hotel was full when we were there for the Eurovision and breakfast wasn't on the roof garden (as others have said) but on the 1st floor dining area - I guess they have moved it. This is a great inexpensive hotel, centrally located (on a quiet street just a few blocks from Omonia Square), with comfortable, clean rooms and friendly staff. We would definitely stay there again.

After a lot of stays in a lot of hotels in Athens,I came across Moka. I have booked a hotel in the near area but they have given my room to someone else.After hours of search (everything was booked ) I have started crying not being able to find something! I got in a taxi and asked the driver to take me to Pireus to search there but inside the taxi was a girl sitting in the front seat. I was asking the driver if he knew a place to reccomend but he did not speak any English. The girl was looking at me from the front mirror... more
