Just returned from the Riu paraiso. What more could you ask for? Good food, drinks and wonderfull staff. And if you dont enjoy the entertainment you have no sence of humour.Well worth a visit.Only minor the smell of smoke in the drinking areas.Other than that no complaints.

maybe the best hotel i have ever stayed in. When you arrive you are welcomed by very friendly and pleasant staff who have your bags taken to your room while they send you to the bar or restaurant for 10mins while they check you in. the food is fantastic such a wide range of choice and all cooked rights in front of your eyes. The rooms are spotless and very nice. now my favorite place in the hotel the BAR the bar staff are so friendly as is everyone in the hotel you can get any type of drink you can think of the bar closes at 12.00 if you have not had enough yet they have a disco which runs till 2am also all free drinks which is very fun. every night at 9.30 they have entertainment in the lounge which was really good every night. if you are bringing children they should love it the hotel reps were 5star always around taking the kids for games and also adults. the beach is 2mins walk away if you use the back door which is easy to get to. so i say this hotel is for any age range young to old i will most definitely be booking at the Riu Paraiso again maybe next week ha ha.

We've just returned from a fortnight away at Hotel Riu Paraiso.
We were a family of 5; 2 adults, 2 young adults (early 20's) and one teenager (16) looking for a relatively cheap, relaxing holiday and I can safely say this is what we got.
The Hotel
Reception was very accommodating, internet access at 1 euro for 15 minutes, comfy sofas and very helpful and friendly staff. All reception staff speak german, english, spanish and french; quite impressive.
The hotel was originally two hotels as it was very spaced out. The main hotel was where the restaurants, theatre, main bar, main pool and where the entertainment staff would be. This part of the hotel was always busy and had a nice atmosphere.
The other side of the hotel was much quieter, only the other pool and snack bar were situated there. With exception to the gym, hair salon and gift shop that only opened for a few hours a day.
A word of warning - if you're not very mobile ask your travel agent to book you a room closer to reception as some rooms are quite far away from the main area of the hotel.
We were in room 3387 which was at the far end of the resort and close to the quieter pool. This suited us fine as there was a snack bar that opened at 10am and served hot and cold drinks from this time and food from 12 noon - 3pm.
We spent a lot of time at this pool as it was so close to our room. The one problem that really peaved us off was that everyone put towels on the sun loungers VERY early in the mornings and if you didn't get up, you didn't get a good spot. This did ruin the holiday as we frequently found ourselves doing the same to ensure we would also get a good spot.
The room
Our room was very nice - facing the beach on the top floor. The rooms are a little dated and not up to the technical specifications like home of course, but they were very clean with a maid service everyday. There were two English TV channels - BBC news and Sky News.
The food
The main restaurant food was very good, most of the salads became a little repetitive but they did change the menu each night to keep everyone happy. Food ranged from beef, lamb, fish, lasagne, chips, soups, pizza (the usual really).
The Mexican and Chinese restaurants were also very good - these you have to book at reception. We were told to do this early on as they booked up quickly but this wasn't the case for us.
The entertainment
The entertainment was actually very good! we were pleasantly surprised. Their was a variety of acts from dancing to singing and variety performances.
The Nightclub
This is the one thing our teenager wanted to do and where she spent most of her time! The nightclub was very good, a safe environment for the younger adults to hang out and make friends. It opened at 11pm - 2am Monday - Saturday.
would we go again? Probably not, but i would recommend it to families with young children as the entertainment staff were superb!!

M boyfriend and I, who are both 19, went to the riu paraiso on 6th June 2010 for a week and I was so gutted to come home. It was our first holiday together and I couldn't think of a better place to stay!
The hotel is catered for all ages although we were probably two of the youngest there!
All of the staff literally bend over backwards to meet your needs, they are so helpful and we never had a problem.
We stayed on the top floor in the new part of the hotel (i would recommend requesting to stay in the new part of the hotel as the old part is literally about a seven minute walk to the restaurants/bar/entertainment, this could be an issue with people with mobility problems)our room was SPOTLESS and the maids come every day to make your bed and change your towels for you. Only thing is we requested a double thinking we would get a double bed but they just bung two single beds together with brakes on the bottom but the top wheels dont have brakes so my clever boyfriend tied them together with a belt lol. Also our air conditioning didnt smell very nice AT ALL when we had it on (smelled a bit like sewers so we just had the ceiling fan on instead)
The food is ok, the main restaurant isn't that nice though I would recommend to definitely book into the asian (we didn't go here) or the mexican and canarian restaraunt (we went to both of these) they were so much better and feels more like your at a restaurant. The drink is good too, but all local/cheap brands but thats ok cos they fill your glass up to however much you want anyway! theres also Cruzcampo, sangria, red and white wine on tap so you can help yourselves!
Pool area is lovely, the entertainment pool is in the new part (this is the biggest pool) or if you like quiet and a swim up bar then the old part has this. There are plenty of beds but alot of people reserve them and dont come back for hours which annoyed me. There were also alot of germans at this hotel too, not a problem, but they are re-nound for doing this with their towels!
Also the pool area has a catchy song "no more problems, no more stress...!" it comes on before they announce the hourly activities. you will have it stuck in your head!
The bar is open till 12am but there is a disco which is open everyday apart from sunday and that serves drinks till 2am.
Location isn't bad, thought it would be alot closer to Puerto Del Carmen though! but we got a taxi there some nights which only cost around 3 euros which is nothing at all!
Didn't go to the beach...lots of diggers on it and the island is windy so didn't fancy being in a sandstorm!
Entertainment at night is ok, dont expect west end, depends on your humour, you may find it hilarious.
To conclude I would definitely come back to the riu paraiso I had such a good time!

Just returned from the above hotel 16-27 May 2010.Having lost a day due to the ash cloud when we did arrive late at night a buffet super had been left out for us, which we didnt expect but much appreicated. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are cleaned to a high standard every day, there is plenty of storage in the rooms and there are quite spacious. The food is excellent, even the very fussy will not starve, the staff are very helpful and always a smile on there face. The entertainment staff work very hard and i would say the shows are above average for hotel shows. You can help yourself to tea, coffee, wine and beer throughout the day and the bar serves local sprits til 12 midnight. There are 2 pools one which has the entertainment staff around and a quietier one which has a pool bar which you can swim to and have a drink while you cool down.We would recommend the rui chain of hotels.

We have just returned from Riu Paraiso Lanzarote yesterday, February 27 2010. We are a family of 5: Mum& Dad and 3 daughters in the ages of 15, 11 and 8. And we had a great time. The weather was really good (which is only a coincidence at this time of year). The food was very much OK, if you wake up late you don't have to starve, the pools and the rest of the place are neat and tidy. The airport is only 10 minutes drive away but no noise has bothered us, and Dad is really particular about that.
The only disapointment we found is that there was not enough young company to be found for the two elder girls. The youngest one however had a great time in the 'mini-club'.
And the best thing was: the entertainment-group. During the day they do all kind of activities, sports and games, anyone can join in, no matter who or what you are, and in the evenings they produce a show you don't want to miss! We recommend this place!

We stayed at the Paraiso for two weeks starting on 28/06, 2 adults and 4 teenagers (well behaved ones) the first week was fantastic (if your going read all my report) just what we expected from a four star all inclusive, we have stayed at numerous in the past and it was on a par with them for the first week anyway, the hotel is a large complex made from two hotels the Paraiso and the Palace, they are joined by a large bridge in the middle, the Palace is by far the nicest part of the complex, peaceful, quiet, beautiful walkways has a large pool area, bar, and snack bar all of good quality.
Our room was 3387 and it was a 7 minute walk to the reception or the restaurant which was a pain at times but the room was very spacious, air conditioning and a safe all free, a beautiful view of the bay and very peaceful so we didn’t mind the trek.
It will make a big difference to your stay if you get a ground floor room or a room around the bridge area as it is noisy and has no views at all plus the roaches hang around down there.
There were ample sun beds, courtesy towels that you can change daily lots of tables at breakfast, lunch and evening meal, there was ample bar staff and the hotel was clearly running in a comfort zone with the hotel only 2 thirds full.
Second week was the start of the European school holidays it made a massive change to our holiday, overnight the hotel changed from a peaceful relaxing place to bedlam, it was as if 500 residents were shipped in overnight, the place was packed, no sun beds, no towels, no tables unless you waited a while, the self service areas ran dry, queue at the bars grew and grew the staff struggled to cope, the place was cracking at the seams, they even imported 60 new sun beds but it didn’t cure the problem.
Unsupervised kids were running wild, drinking beer smoking drugs, and out side the nightclub which serves free beer until 2am you had to avoid piles of vomit most mornings on your way to breakfast, the hotel had so many complaints they issued letters and notices to residents to address the problem the hotel has too many residents and struggles to cope in various areas, lots of the nice four star extras stopped on the second week(and the bacon)
While I am having a moan the entertainment is rubbish only 2 external performers in 2 weeks, the rest are kids entertainers who very rarely speak English as the hotel is 95% German, you need a few beers to laugh at them (the beer is rubbish as well)
We did not let this invasion change or spoil our hols and we continued to really enjoys our selves we would go again to this hotel but it would need to be out of season, the managers of this hotel hands out questionnaires every other day, well take it from me there is a training/management need at this hotel so listen to the comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my lovely partner have just returned from a fantastic week at this hotel. Absolutely great hotel and strongly recommended. Our room, like the whole hotel was spotless, food was delicious and plentiful (recommend both the a la carte restaurants), staff very friendly and helpful. There was always plenty of staff on hand to help and no queueing for food/drinks/reception etc
We only went on 1 trip to Tequise market. Would recommend this trip, as its a very quaint village and in excess of 300 stalls. It works out more flexible and cheaper to just use the local bus (no 12 - outside hotel) than organised trips through tour operators.
Only problem we had was our return flight didn't set off till 10pm. Our options were check out at 11am and have a free half an hour in a complimentary room later, or 50 euros to keep a room till 6pm. We opted for the 2nd option, but it involved changing rooms to a very poor room (only 1 light worked, the door didn't lock properly etc). We would never have accepted this as our room for the week and assume it is only used for this less than 1 day purpose but in hindsight probably not worth 50 euros.
Apart from this substandard room, our trip was perfect and very relaxing. Enjoy your hols.

Initially our rooms were a great disappointment but by Sunday the Hotel had managed to find us far superior rooms that complied with our original request. We would have liked tea/coffee facilities in the rooms asit was not possible to obtain a hot drink before breakfast. The Hotel was kept very clean but our general opinion of the rooms is that they badly need renovating, which we gather is happening in November this year. The staff were generally very helpful and the little touches by the maids were very nice.
We do however, have two major gripes. The pools are VERY cold and although the children had fun, not being able to just jump in and out when we wished, was a great pity. It was sometimes after lunch before the water was remotly warm. The sea was considerably warmer than the pools. The other grip, and it got on everyones nerves that we spoke to, was the continual reserving of sunbeds with towels at ridiculous hours of the morning. Some were left as people emptied from the disco. These should have been removed. SOMETHING should be done about this. Cant say much about our rep as we only saw her once!!
The shows were very good, but again the theatre badly needs sorting out. Not enough seats for the amount of people wishing to see the shows.

This was my best holiday ever,i loved every second of it and could of stayed forever! I went with my parents,my husband and my 1 year old son.Our rooms were nice and clean with a good cot bed for our son.Our room was next to my parents as we requested and in a quiet little corner of the hotel which was perfect for us.Reception were always very helpful and gave you free bottled water whenever you needed it.The food was always very nice,i enjoyed it so much i put on half a stone in 2 weeks! My son was 1 at the time and had just started eating normal foods and he didnt turn his nose up at anything either. The poolside was always very nice and clean although i would say you may have to get up early to grab a bed.The only downside was it was a bit of a walk to all the shops and resturants, other than that i loved it and will be returning with my family plus a new addition next year!

First time all inclusive was a fantastic experience at the Riu Paraiso.
Whats the story with the area outside, why is it so run down?
If you want to go for a walk go towards Carmen
