Best Western Hotel Zinon

i stayed in this hotel during xmas. and i was verry happy with the freindly atmosphere , the clean rooms and fair prices .

located in the center of athens where it was easy to go every where by metro.

if i go again ? yes!

This is a very nice hotel

The area looks a little funny but it's safe overall. The people working there are great and very helpful. They always have time to give the customer in order to help them find anything they want.

They are willing to show places for eating and visiting etc.

The rooms are relativeley small but clean and cosy.

We had a room on the highest fllor with a great view of the city.

If I'd go again in that hotel? Next time we visit Greece-Athens, this will be the place.

Read a few of the posts on here and got a bit panicky about the state of the area........ however, we didn't have a problem at all! The Zinon is a lovely hotel, the reception staff are friendly and the facilities are good. Free internet access so we could email when we wanted to. The complementary orange juice and water downstairs were very welcome after a hot day walking!!! The rooms have been very nicely done, plenty of room for three of us in a family room. The double room was also very spacious and perhaps the only downside was a lack of view from some rooms. In our case no view at all, but that didn't bother us as it was a base for sightseeing. To this end we couldn't have picked a better spot, so easy to get around on foot, bus or metro. Our family group comprised teenager, parents and grandparents, at no time did we feel threatened and the sightseeing along with the Hotel Zinon made our weekend break great!!!!!

We stayed at HotelZinon (BestWestern) in August 24,2006, and

August 31,2006, the area is scary for most but I did not find so

because I'm a New Yorker, its is difficult to find at 1st, but the

Metro stop is Omonia Square, but once you find the hotel, its

worth it, the hotel is clean, the staff is helpful, the breadfast is

OK, there's 2 small elevators, we had rooms 305 (Flatscreen TV)

big enough room, nice bathroom, sofa, chair at desk, big enough

and we had 2 big suitcases, 2 big bags, and still had plenty room left to walk around the room. The reception can recomment a great resturant near by, it called Alexander The Great, cozy, clean, best food. We had a nice stay here. Its great for a short Stay,

But I did not see on anyones Reviews about Athens, Which is All

The Stray Dogs that are everywhere, randomly, in the streets, Top of the Acropolis, around some resturants area. The tyr to follow you for food, they do not attack you just, try and walk behind you or close to you. So be prepared and aware of this.

The Metro is between E.060, .080 euros to ride, you have to validate you card each time you enter the Metro, sometimes there ae officals at the entrance sometimes none, but be smart and always Validate your Metro ticket to avoid a heavy Fine.

The Metro lines are the Red/Green Line. The Red stops running

1 am. at night and the Green stops running at Midnight.

What do you expect of a Best Western hotel? A moderate price and an acceptable service, right?... Wrong!

At least in BW Zinon. The room was like a mousehole. You could hardly move or find a place to leave the luggage. The bed, for two people, wasn’t larger than 1,20 m. There was only one bedside table (at the other side you had to leave your glasses, book, water, etc... on the floor). The furniture was practically non existent, there wasn’t a single chair in the room. The TV (which was like 14”) worked really badly. And in the morning, after having slept only 4 hours (our flight arrived very late), the cleaning staff began to shout in the corridors…Should I continue?

Ok. The district is one of the worse of whole Athens, although well communicated. The so-called “orange juice”, that you can have at any time , was nothing but a chemical produce. The breakfast was certainly limited and repetitive. One of the two elevators was broken down, and it took years to take the other (we were on the 8th floor)…More? The shower was very small and unconfortable. The street was noisy,...

...Reading the past reviews may be I wasn’t lucky. I only know that I have travelled extensively for years, and this is one of the worst places I have been to, regarding the price. I paid 70 euros for the first night and 90 second (then I rushed away). Believe me, there are much better places for that price in Athens. Even for less money.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and despite its sketchy neighbourhood, the hotel was alright. The rooms are not the most aesthetically pleasing ones, but being on a budget and keeping to a close distance to Plaka they'll do. Washroom was tiny but it contained all we needed. At least they have an AC and a TV, but no fridge which was a little inconvenient. The reception was friendly and the breakfast is what you expect from a hotel like this. The only complaint would be that the room had 2 single beds instead of a double as was stated during booking. Yeah the neighbourhood didn't look the safest but everytime my gf and I went back at night, we weren't being bothered although being looked at once in a while. Athens is very safe anyway compared to any other cities of its scale. Hotel's only 5 min walk from metro which is very convenient.
