Palmyra Beach Hotel

This hotel tries to sell itself as a 4 star hotel and sad to say I bought into it after reviewing their website. This hotel is definitely NOT a 4 star hotel. It barely meets a cheap motel standard. It says that its right next to the beach, that's incorrect, it's a block a half away and you'd be lucky to see the beach from your room. The pool is tiny. The restaurant food is bad and service is poor. The hotel bar is very poor, they have a few liquors and they don't know how to make a drink. Stayed at the Palmyra Beach Hotel for several days in June of 2005,with my spouse and 2 sons ages 9 and 12 First the positive points. Staff was very pleasant. Very good buffet breakfast included with the room. Large , locked storage room off the lobby that I could store my excess bags in while I traveled to other area's of Greece between stays. Price for a quad was 111 Euro's. Also very close to the tram that takes you into Athens, and is near the beach. We stayed for 7 days at the hotel and were very unpleasantly surprised to find that although advertised as a four star hotel, it came very low in the ratings reaching only a possible 2 star quality. For 2 days we were subjected to a Gypsy Convention where no facilities were safe and hygienic to use and we were unable to use the restaurants, reception areas, bar, and impossible to use the toilet facilities. All in all a very unpleasant stay for our first time in Greece. On complaining to management the best they would offer was a 5% discount... more
