Hotel Niki

We wife and I stayed at the Niki on a Saturday in October 2006. We picked it for it's fantastic location near two train stations and a lot of the good restaurants and sites, and a very cheap rate for the neighborhood (97 Euro). We had 3 nigths (we tried to move after first night but as we had paid they would off no refund) at hotel Niki in April 06 at that time there where no reviews and website looked good so booked it , big mistake , the rooms very small even for euro size , the rooms reeked of smoke and when we asked the manager about a non smoking room he just laughed , they must have used smoke scented room cleaner as each day when we returned to the room, it once again reeked , we ended up buying some air freshner , we finally moved to the Central Hotel the... more

The Niki Hotel is a decent, basic option for a stay in Athens. Our room, although very small, was clean; the bathroom was no bigger than a shoebox - it is quite possible to sit on the toilet, wash ones hands in the sink and take a shower simultaneously! It was not possible for the two of us to be in the bathroom at the same time. Breakfast is basic; coffee, juice (sickly concentrate not fresh), cheese, ham, bread, cake. Hi, Many have requested a review about Niki. I find it difficult to write one since I have noticed that expectations vary a lot between cultures (sorry, americans). But consider this as a review from a person that has travelled a lot and in all continents. Summary: Niki has been rated as 2star or 3 star hotel. Compared to other mediterranean hotels, e.g to in Italy, I would say it is 3+stars. So, especially if you find an internet offer, go for it. Price should be under 100 euros per night.
