This was a lovely hotel. The rooms were very clean. The pool was nice. The restaurants were very clean. Food was nice, plenty to eat and drink all day and night.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of entertainment day and night and a club open as late as you can carry on drinking.

We went to the hotel on our honeymoon and it was a real mixed bag. We were upgraded to the best suit right at the front overlooking the pool and beach with a huge balcony. However, hotel wise that was as good as it got.
There is zero to do in the evenings. The 'entertainment' is very poor and although it only lasted for an hour that was way long enough! There was lots of variation with the food on offer but it was all pretty poor - as for the drinks they were disgusting sugary syrup and the wine was like gone off Lambrini. An all inclusive week drinking water - great!
Cabaret is a filthy town with constant harassment from often menacing looking locals.
The beach is nice enough but not exactly paradise.
Excursions, however were excellent so that made the week worth while in some respects.
To sum up, if you're happy to travel 11 hours from the UK to sit by the pool and not have the option of doing much else then go. Personally I'll be sticking to Europe where I can spend my holiday being able to leave my hotel, without being in fear of my life, and really explore a resorts beaches & culture, as well as go for meals in different restaurants.

This was one of my best holidays. The accommodation was excellent. There was lots of things to do like Darts, bocce ball, dancing, the crazy games, bingo and lots more (remember to try and win cause you get a bottle of rum or if your a kid you get a lollypop but it not very useful if you has braces).
The food at the buffet was great same with the Italian cause they were quick, but at the Mexican they were very slow so if you want to see the show don’t book for 9. The staff like the maid and that were great (not the animation staff yet) the check in staff were fast and easy.
The animation staff were incredible if they were not there I would have had a boring holiday because there shows were funny like the comedy show and they made all the games better. so thanks to William, Jordon, Robert, Broulio and the rest thanks for a great holiday. hope to come back next year.

This was my first time to Dominican Republic, and I am ready to go back!! I went with a friend and we had the BEST time - most of it was due to the staff at the hotel - the animation team (entertainment) and the water sports team were exceptional!
The food was much better then I expected in an all inclusive (the quality was very good) as were the rooms/facilities. I was sold the ticket as a 3 star, but the hotel website said 4 star - I personally would say its well worth the 4 stars! I can't get over how friendly and 'happy' the animation and water sports people were - they do VERY long days, but never seem exhausted and will greet you with a big smile (and a hug and a kiss, if you are comfortable with it!).
I was warned about the timeshare people, but only got asked once - told them I didn’t have a job ;-) and they soon left us alone!
I also spoke to people that had stayed at other hotels (nearby) and all told me that this was the best and are only going to stay at this place - don’t get me wrong, they didn’t have 'bad' experiences at the other hotels, it was purely the 'activities' and the staff that made this one better!
Highly recommended - I'm saving now, to go again!

We were advised that this hotel was suited in a beautiful location that was very peaceful during the day and had a good atmosphere in the evening. The location to be fair was beautiful, however there was absolutely nothing to do out at the hotel and Cabarete was not the cleanest or most attractive place in the world.
The staff were terrible- especially the animation team- they were very amorous towards women and would not leave you alone. I was extremely disappointed with them! The private beach was again beautiful, but everyday there was at least 12 locals trying to sell cheap products for extortionate prices on the beach.
The hotel didn't mind this or the fact that they would not accept no for an answer. Several couples were there for 14 days and did not use the beach for this very reason. Food was quite good and some of the excursions were extremely fun. To sum up, decent hotel, terrible staff, lack of entertainment, beautiful setting, unfriendly and extremely rude culture. Would not go back.
Would only advise holiday there for a one week vacation on a substantially discounted offer.

Fantastic all inclusive resort. Very friendly and helpful staff from the beginning to the end of our holiday. The resort had 3 restaurants which were all very good but our favourite was the Italian (and most importantly the Lasagne!!). Entertainment staff and the nightly presentation was excellent, even though after a weeks worth of miming can get a bit much!!
On the negative sides - Only 1 bar, so get a few drinks in at one time (the Rum is excellent). The male staff can be a bit letchy especially around the young girls..so keep an eye on them. But all in all we had an excellent holiday, with superb food, loads of drink and best of all the Sun and the heat.

Just got back and what a holiday,
The hotel was kept very clean and they do there very best to keep it bug Free ( air conditioning works well to), the food was good and the drinks flowed nicely.
The hotel is directly on the beach in the morning there is little wind and it picks up in the afternoon.
The fresh water pool is great and the pool guy keeps it clean.
The hotels entertainment staff are fantastic, (look up Jordan and Teresa to learn Salsa). The team run around all day providing loads of activities and then if that’s not enough in the evenings it is SHOWTIME, these are talented dancers and comedians recommended shows are Grease and the comedy shows.
If you are a couple under thirty you will not have any problems with the time share people. Beach sales man are polite if you say no most of the time they will leave it at that.
otherwise walk along by the waves they do not want to get there feet wet.
We book our tours with Pot fun (cabaret) there were great and low prices and one trip was cancelled and we had no trouble getting our money back.
Again great holiday and I am going back.

This was our first holiday in the Dominican and has left us wanting to return the hotel was excellent and great value for money.
The town can be reached by walking along the beach approx 20 mins. Do not venture via the road at the front of the hotel its very dusty and quite dangerous the monster truck trip was very interesting and a great day out, do not miss the swim with dolphins or sharks for the more adventurous.
We couldn’t believe how hard the staff worked especially those that cleaned the beach after the hurricane.
All inclusive really means AI here with our hotel fridge being stocked daily with soft drinks great holiday great price.

We had an excellent all inclusive holiday at this hotel in September 2004. The complex is a 10 min walk into the town centre along a busy road, but with no pavements to walk on, and as the locals drive on any side of the road that they like, it is better and much safer to stroll along the beach into town. The food was excellent, with plenty of choice and variety. The staff very friendly and helpful. Every evening, the entertainment staff put on an hour long show.
We were at this hotel during ‘hurricane Jeanne’, although the facilities were suspended for 24hrs while the hurricane passed, we were kept well informed of what was happening, with food and drink brought to our room. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a quiet restful holiday

Have visited the Dominican North & South and had wonderful hols in 4* hotels, but were disappointedly sold this holiday by Thomson’s as 4 * accommodation however it really should be rated as 3 * the rooms offer fridge, hairdryer etc but that’s it.
The Viva chain sell timeshare so the hotel has only 60% capacity for tourists, the other 40% is owned by locals who converge on site from midday Fri to Sun so that is the only time the place is full, and yes you will get hassled most politely but unremittingly in the lobby, outside the dining room, by the pool, and on your sunbeds on the beach to attend the presentation. The Canadian holidaymakers were informed of this but our rep - Steve - informed us on the way to the hotel and at the welcome meeting that the place was full, didn’t mention the timeshare guys in situ.
No private beach - Cabarete has only the municipal beach for all hotels so consequently is full of hawkers trying to sell trinkets, hair braiding, massages, papers, jewellery, hats and you will be approached constantly.
Only 1 bar. You can help yourself to pop/beer in the Italian restaurant which doubles as a snack bar but all served in plastic cups at all times, you will only get glasses in the restaurants at meal times.
The food offers something for everyone breakfast being the best deal - no bacon however even when requested - the reply was no and we were pointed in the direction of frankfurters and mashed potato! They do supply a chef to cook your eggs though.
The a la carte restaurants - Mexican, not open every night due to ongoing painting. Italian I thought was best service. Both have limited menus and no air conditioning or fans in these or the main restaurant so beware.
Entertainment - provided by animation team to the best of their ability.
This is a 3* hotel by the beach not a complex. There is no room to escape if you want a quiet 5 minutes, only the 1 pool with the shallow end for children and the deep end for water polo etc.
