English beware! Food is slop, slop...

English beware! Food is slop, slop and more slop, bar snacks are crawling with wasps and they were only sandwiches. The hotel in general is nice and clean excluding the toilets at the pool area, the staff where nice and friendly, especially our cleaner she was a love!
Entertainment, now that was unbelievable! We stayed a week and had 2 nights entertainment. First one a long drawn out music quiz, then 3 nights later the big one! Wait for it… a 24inch television in the middle of the entertainment room playing Rambo - what do they spend our money on?.
I have been going to Greece for the last 10 years and stayed in the most basic accommodation with no complaints, but I would not go back to this hotel if they paid me. Roda is a lovely place to stay and when I go next year it will not be all inclusive.

English beware! Roda Garden Village...

English beware! Roda Garden Village does not cater for the english, the food is slop after slop after slop, we ate salad and bread every night. One resident asked what a certain meat dish was, the waiters reply was dog! Reception and all staff where nice and friendly, our cleaner who came every day apart from Sunday was very sweet. As for entertainment well that was non existent unless you count one long drawn out quiz night and cinema night, which is watching a Rambo film on a old 20in television in the middle of the entertainment room (what is our money we pay getting spent on?)! The pool snack bar had tiny sandwiches which where crawling with wasp and a cake of some description!
Overall how these apartments class as 4 star is totally beyond me!I wouldn't give it 3,I have been to Roda 3 times it is a lovely island and I will be going back next year but certainly not to these apartments, I wouldn't go even if it was for free.

This hotel has under gone a big refurbishment in the winter of 2006/07 and we were pleasantly surprised at the hotel. Quality air-con in every room, very clean, food was fantastic; lots of variety and local dishes and we had a very warm welcome from all the staff on reception and dinning room.
The plastic cups were just during the day when the pool was open which I totally agree with; no one wants to stand on broken glass. The evening entertainment (though they were limited on resources) was ok as the team were such a good bunch of people !
Basically a great location. You can walk to Roda town and Archaravi. Lovely friendly people everywhere you go and the beach even though was pebbled (take your flip flops) was ideal and great waves !
Would recommend to you all!

Just returned from Roda Garden...

Just returned from Roda Garden Village Hotel, a party of 15 with an age range of 84 to 19.
Very nice quiet location, rooms are adequate (certainly don't look like the brochure pictures, very small), no plugs in sinks and no shower holder, rooms are cleaned every other day, unless it is a Sunday where you get nothing, the towels are changed every other day (Well that is the hope anyway).
The food is not that good, rather bland and chips seem to be the order of the day, however I have had worse.
Staff at the hotel are very nice and friendly, from the lovely little chamber maid to Georgio Head Waiter and Anastasia Receptionist, the bar staff and entertainment staff are also very friendly. However, the Hotel Manager is definitely in the wrong job, we all commented on his miserable countenance and also quite aggressive manner.
Out of our party 5 ended up with very severe ear infections, and 1 with a throat infection, the local Dr (Dimitris) was very good, as was the Dr's receptionist, who was paid a visit by the Med Hotel Representative.
Trips to avoid are the Glass Bottom Boat, not very good, but a trip into Corfu Town is a must it is a wonderful place. The trip to Pargo and Paxos are superb and the hiring of a quad bike advisable, obviously the younger in our party all hired them and had a fantastic time, but also my Father at the age of 67 hired one and had a fab time exploring the outlying countryside, you can find all the nice little truly Greek places on one.
An absolute must is a visit to Valentines Taverna (about a 10 minute walk from the hotel towards Achravari on the beach Road), the most fantastic food, and traditional Greek evenings with music and dancing, the owner Tom (who spent 30 years in Canada), Costas, Costas, and Andonis are so friendly, and make you really welcome, cocktails are great too.
For the younger generation, a visit to Pirates Bar in Roda if you want to roll home at 6.00am after a fun night is advisable (we couldn't keep our 20+ years olds out of the place).
All in all we had a fantastic time, the only real moan is the attitude of the Hotel Manager, so don't be put off, the hotel is in a lovely spot, just get up early to get yourself a sun bed, beach sun beds are also available free of charge from the Hotel.
We had a great holiday, not the best hotel I have stayed in and wouldn't stay there again but would definitely go back to Roda.

It was a pleasure to stay at the Roda...

Jul 2007, Mr Jpm Mason

It was a pleasure to stay at the Roda Garden Village hotel. The staff were very friendly and kind.
The rooms were very clean and had very large balconies, safe for children to play on.
Over all the food was lovely and they had fish almost every night. They catered for all people, they had a large selection of food and it was lovely. The snacks by the pool bar were filled up.
However, be prepared to get up early to get a sunbed due to the hotel being predominately German. Sunbeds were free as everything else in the hotel.
They have 2 computers which cost a small amount of 4 euro per half hour. Including webcam and speakerphone.
Speaking about this hotel has brought back the memory of a lovely stay at the Roda Garden Village hotel, and I would recommend this holiday to anyone especially if you have children.
Me and my family enjoyed our stay at this hotel and wish to stay again.

I was a guest of this hotel with an 'all-inclusive' package. The images featured on the website as well as information’s are not accurate. What was described to us as a 'double room' was actually a tiny room, set up with two beds one of which consisted of couch-type pillows set next to each other.
The telephone in the room cannot be used-hotel policy, apparently and the only usable phone is a phone in the lobby area. Air conditioning is limited to a couple of rooms and although we had paid for such a room, they were occupied and we never benefited either from a refund or another room.
The food had nothing to do with traditional Greek food-the one time we asked for feta as an accompaniment to the salad we were told in a very impolite way that all the available food was what lay already on the table.
The drinks policy was just as terrible-hotel 'all inclusive' guests received their drinks-beer and wine- solely from plastic cups, while real glasses were reserved to tourists stopping by and paying full price.
Add to this the very rude attitude of the staff (mostly waiters) as well as the non.-responsiveness of the hotel management to all these issues.
I have enjoyed many vacations in Greece and this was my worst experience, despite Roda's beautiful location and feeling very welcome in most other restaurants, bars and stores.
