Hera Hotel

After the taxi from the airport we walked everywhere in Athens from this hotel - the location was great both for the Acropolis and other attractions. We paid for an 'Acropolis view' - I'm not sure I would bother again since really all it meant was that you were higher up in the building - you had to be out on the balcony to see it and there are cranes in the way - not the hotel's fault but not worth the extra. Athens is a seriously noisy city and the roadworks right outside the hotel didn't help, however this was only a problem... more

Great Acropolis views, nice rooms w/good bathroom (although not very large). Customer service: medium. Breakfast: same as other hotels in Greece. Good location...very close to plaka and Acropolis. Don't expect great concierge service, especially at night. But was a pleasant place to stay in Athens.

We stayed at the Hera for 3 nights in March 2007. The location is wonderful!--perfect for walking to the Acropolis (5 min.) and immediately adjacent to the Plaka. There is a Metro stop about 3 min. from the hotel, so the rest of the city (and Peiraios) is easily accessible, too. The room itself was on the small side, but very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was nice, and the breakfast was ample. The hotel staff was helpful but unobtrusive. We would definitely stay here on another trip to Greece.

We stayed at this hotel for our first night into Greece for our honeymoon. Although it was only one night, we found the location to be very convenient. It was literally steps from the metro station and 5 minutes walking to the entrance of the Acropolis and the Plaka District. We booked this hotel based on reading the reviews here. The good - Great location, clean, nice breakfast. The bad - First night room was unbearable (room 107). It was extremely small and close to a noisy compressor that never shut off. The heater was not working correctly and the room was so warm we could not sleep. To make matters worse, we couldn’t open the window because of the outside noise. The Hera is all about location! And value for money, as there are many alternative hotels around Acropolis offering the same view but possibly not at that price or standard. The Hera is small, cosy, clean and beatifully furnished. The rooms are smallish, but have all mod cons, i.e. a safe, kettle, slippers, mini bar, etc. And the decor is nice, not old fashion chinzy but more modern with an antique twist (?).
