Super value, great hotel!
I stayed at the Pelican for 1 week, it is a quiet hotel with very spacious, modern and well-kept rooms and a spectacular view on the town. I booked through the web-site of the hotel. Check in was fast, the room was thourougly cleaned every day. The breakfast was rather limited in choice but of good quality. the hotel offers standard rooms (i stayed in one of them - they are quite nice) or superior rooms wich have a private balcony. Indeed, even all the standard rooms have their own terrace at the large common terrace garden. I definately would go to this hotel again: its good value for your money and very friendly and helpfull staff.
Perfect place to relax & enjoy the view
Previous reviews on this site are perfectly accurate and say it all: this hotel has a marvellous location overlooking all of Mykonos town, with rooms that are very clean and in excellent shape, though decoration is a bit minimalistic. The shower is like the rest of the room: modern and well-maintained. It has no shower curtain (like all Greek showers), but it's so spacious that it's actually possible to take a shower without getting everything wet. I would definately stay here again, and can highly recommend for stays up to a week. Beware when booking your stay that the hotel has two levels: the best views are from the rooms on the upper level (referred to as "room with balcony"), which are only slightly more expensive than the rooms on the lower level (referred to as "room with terrace"). The upper level rooms have as an extra benefit that the balcony/terrace and the front door are on opposite sides of the rooms, which makes it easier to have a bit of a breeze and fresh air in the room. Some of the rooms on the lower level are also constructed like this, but others are more like a cave with no window or door on 3 sides. I don't think I would have liked to stay there. The short road from the hotel to the centre of town is one of the steepest I have seen in Greece, so definately not for people with mobility problems unless you have access to a car (and know how to drive on streets this steep!). The road passes on the side of the hotel where the reception area is, so I believe that none of the rooms suffers any noise nuisance (and there's little traffic anyway). Breakfast at the hotel is included in the rate and perfectly adequate and served in the nice and spacious reception area with lovely terrace (with again the maginificent view of the town and harbour). The choice of food items is the same every day, with the notable exception of a different cake every day, baked by the owner of the hotel (next morning's cake can be seen the evening before in the kitchen, always minus the one piece that the cake maker has tried herself).
Nice Hotel - Highly recommended
My husband and I stayed at Pelican Hotel, Mykonos Town during the period of 13~15 May 2008. Both of us have a lovely memory their. The decoration of the hotel is good - make people feel comfortable. The hotel is quite quiet and clean. The receptionist and all their staffs are very nice and helpful. We lived in a room with a private balcony, and the view is really fantastic - overlooking the port and the Mykonos Town. The hotel offered a buffet breakfast, the taste of food is good and delicious. The only draw back of the hotel is that it located in the hill top from the town. People could just spend 5 mins to walk down to the town, but may need 15-20 mins walk up to the hill. For elder or disable people, the hotel may not be a good choice for them. The price they offered to us was very competitive. Fair Price with Unexpected good services. They offered us both pick up service from the ferry port and the departure service to the airport (our freight is at 20:00). I would definitely recommend people to stay here.
Quiet hotel with fantastic view of Mykonos Town
My partner and I stayed at The Pelican Hotel, Mykonos Town for 4 nights. The hotel has minimal decoration and is very clean. Our room had a terrace overlooking Mykonos Town. The room was spacious and the bathroom was modern and clean. The hotel offered free wireless internet access and security box at front desk. Shuttle to/from the ferry terminal can be arranged but for a small charge. They also provided us with beach towels. The breakfast was very good. Sure, there is quite a hill from the town to the hotel, however, the view makes it all very worthwhile. We would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful!
A fully renovated hotel with a breathtaking view of Mykonos town and the port.If you have a private veranta is very romantic. The rooms are decorated in happy colours and the bathroom is very spacious and very good. The rooms are not very big but the veranta compensates you! Some days they didn t clean it very well. The breakfast is ok.It very close to the tovn but is on a hill and you need a bike or a quad since the road is very steap!
Fantastic Views
We had a room on the upper level with a huge balcony with fantastic views over Mykonos town and the port. The room is a great size with a big bathroom. Housekeeping did a good job everyday. Breakfast was great. Location is really good, only a short walk to the town centre and bus station for the main beaches. The only down side was the walk back up to the hotel which was up a steep hill. Its not a big walk though and fully worth it for the views. Also being on the outskirts of town meant it was nice and quiet. I fully recommend this hotel. It definitely should be given a higher rating than 2 stars.
Loved the Pelican Town Hotel
We had a fantastic stay in this hotel. The rooms are very clean, the people very nice and frienly and the view was spectacular. It was one of the nisest hotels we've ever stayed. I tottaly recomend it if you want to spend less and having a room with views and be close to everywhere.
Hotel on a hill
The Pelican Hotel is Mykonos' best deal, by far! It advertizes(and charges) as a two-star but it really is a boutique hotel (well worth three stars), especially the double rooms on the upper level. Each room has a large patio, equiped with chairs or benches and a table. The view of Mykonos town is great and watching the sunsets is definitely a plus! There is a price to pay for this view, however....as the hotel is situated on the top of a hill. This means that reaching the hotel on foot from the center of town is quite a walk, especially the last couple of hundred meters where the street is quite steep, especially if you are loaded down with luggage! Nevertheless, we enjoyed the very nice rooms, recently redecorated, the ultra-chic bathrooms and the overall look of the hotel. Breakfast is included in the price and they provide a well-stocked buffet, with juice, good croissants, excellent coffee, various types of bread, eggs, cheese, jams, yogurt, honey, cereals, the works. If you advise them of your arrival time (airport or harbor) they will come and pick you up free of charge. This hotel is hard to beat!
A friendly hotel with nice views and people close to everywhere
I have stayed in this hotel during my visits to Mykonos island many times. What i really like about this hotel are: 1/Really nice views, especially if you book a double room on the top floor which are also have a private veranda to watch the amazing sunsets of the aegean 2/A nice breakfast with not so many but really fresh things to eat, especially the bakery goods.(the owner manage one of the most famous bakeries of the island) 3/Tottaly good value especially on the super high season of August... 4/The location of the hotel is great..it is in mykonos town but in comparison with other mykonos town hotels have some advantages...it is 2 ninutes walking from the buses heading to the beaches..the location is tottaly quiet, something rare in the streets of the town where every day thousands of tourists walking at night(nightlife of this island is among the best in the planet),and furthremoe is on a little cliff which you can have really nice views of the port and the mountains of tinos island from the other side of the sea.... 5/The staff are nice people, most of them local myconians which have 20 years old experience of everything having to do with tourism and especially for mykonos island,,,,,, 6/the rooms are clean and basic, exept the elegant rooms which have something more to give you on the subject of decoration and views....(better bathrooms too) I tottaly recomend it if you want to spend less, having a room with views and be close to everywhere..i recomend it
Lovely place, just lovely.
My wife and I stayed in Hotel Pelican for three nights in mid-May 06. Once we grew accustomed (quickly) to the area in which it was located (up on a hill), we grew to love this place. Maria, who attended to us, is a really nice, sincere and friendly lady who made our stay a really pleasant and memorable one. The place is very clean and beautifully decorated to give a nice homely and safe feeling. The superior rooms where we stayed in were relatively spacious, with a nice balcony that gives a fantastic view of Mykonos Town, new and old ports, as well as the sun set. It also comes with a safe to boot. Breakfast was a handsome spread of bread, pastries, fruits etc etc. Maria would also serve us freshly made croissants which were almost perfect for the morning. The bathroom was also spacious and tastefully designed. While the walk up the hill to the hotel takes a bit of our breath away, it is well worth it, especially when you can enjoy the commanding view of the town and waterfront from it. I'd not hesitate to return to Hotel Pelican on my next visit to Mykonos.
