The hotel itself was absolutely fine....

The hotel itself was absolutely fine. Just what we'd been looking for. Quiet area, not too far from the main shopping area in Matagorda. Excellent maid services, very clean and tidy. The only problem we had was with the bedding. It was just a little uncomfortable, but then I cant mark this down as a bad point as I've experienced this in nearly all places around the world I've been... It's not the same if it's not your own bed. The cooker was located directly over the fridge, but we had absolutely no problem with this. The one thing I would advise is this... during strong winds, don't leave your windows open while you're out. We didnt realise just how much sand is carried off the Sahara in the winds.
The pool was excellent. Cleaned early every morning by a very vigilant pool attendant. I used the pool several times with no complaints what so ever.
We didnt use the tennis court during our stay but it's a reasonable size if anyone wants to play during their stay.
All in all, very satisfied with the staff of the hotel. The reception was very helpful, and the bar staff were great. I would warn though, as with most hotels catering to mainly british folk, they do tend to be a bit on the expensive side when you order food. Go out 5 minutes down the road and eat. You'll get much more for what your paying.

Most unfriendly hotel I've ever...
1 / 10
Jun 2008, Mrs Cw Jones

Most unfriendly hotel I've ever stayed at. All the english put in the worst rooms, polish and germans in rooms with views. Our room had a view of an 8 foot white wall with barbed wire on top a few feet from our window, no balcony or terrace. We were told when we booked that all rooms had a view of the sea or pool. No proper bar - the bar is a counter in the corner of a room/corridor and is the bar and snack bar for day and evening. Snacks in the day is a tray of sandwiches and some cakes. Coffee is disgusting! Restaurant is a cafeteria with no atmosphere in the basement and the food is horrible, and as there is no proper snack bar has to be used for lunch and dinner. No atmosphere in hotel - very boring day and night, and television in rooms is not satellite just german and spanish programs with sky news or CNN for english. No grounds to walk in as advertised. Only go here if you want to go out every day and just use as a base, but don't expect to feel welcome! Best thing I can say is that the place is spotlessly clean.

May 2008, Mr J Lane

Just got back from a very relaxing and comfortable stay and, having read the feedback prior to our departure, I was expecting the worst! However, we experienced quite the opposite, a very enjoyable location if you just want a quiet break and chill out. Varied choice of menu, plenty to drink (no queues) and mixed age groups created a great atmosphere. I would certainly recommend and return again. I have learnt in life that some folk just moan for the sake of it and could easily make a profession out of it – get a life!

just got back had a great time the apparments are clean and tidy the staff are helpfull and the apartments are nice and quiet , nothing major to moan about the tv is mainly spanish sky news and fox not worth paying 2 euros a night for plus deposit.
the pool was cleaned every morning at half past seven the water cooled you down on a hot day of witch there were many .
the resort is quite windy at night but it is a warm wind
the beach is nice and clean there are life guards on duty all day
there was five of us on holiday children and adults and we would all go back
the airport is nearby but planes dont fly over the resort and the noise was minimal

My girlfriend and I spent ten nights at the appartments recently. We found all the staff very friendly. The receptionist although is only there twice during the day was very helpful when booking excursions, cars and places to visit.
Matagorda itself was very quiet at this time of the year which we found nice if you want somewhere quiet this is ideal for families and couples. If you want a bit of night life go to the strip in Puerto Del Carmen- which is cheap to get to in a taxi. This is where reps try to get you in their bars with free drinks!
The cleaners came to the appartment at least every other day- the downside was that the double bed was two single beds put together. When booking request a pool side view as we found ourselves overlooking the road.
We recommend going Chev's bar which is in the centre square in Matagorda, this is a friendly Karaoke bar. The Anchor is a good place to eat. At the square there are two canarian restaurants facing the beach, we went to the one which had yellow decor, this was the only place which we found the food very poor and overpriced.

We arrived at the hotel just in time...

Apr 2008, Miss A Kelly

We arrived at the hotel just in time before the bar closed at 10pm, the staff were helpful and although the reception was closed the bar staff showed us to our room. The room was a good size with a terrace, bad things about the room was that the bathroom was a bit shabby and the bedding was always falling off the beds, the sheets just wouldnt stay tucked under the mattress at all..
the hotel was nice and quiet, we didnt have to listen to and rubbish music or cheesy entertainment shows at night which suited us and the pool area was nice and clean. We had a great holiday with lovely weather and we would stay here again

this was an amazing holiday, i went with my boyfriend in feb and it was boiling hot, the beach was just down the road, there is not much entertainment atall, there was an irish bar, chinese, and indian i struggled to find an actual spanish resturant but we eventually did. if you walk all the way to the end of the beach into the next town i advice you to do you shopping their i brought 200 fags for 5 euros i was in shock it was so cheap. the hotel was very secluded and you had complete privacy, only thing i disliked was that the cleaner never seemed to change the towels or sweep the floor, but that was very minor compared to how good every thing else was. this is a perfect holiday for a couple or someone wanting to relax, not very kid frendly and there isnt much around either i would love to go back there.

Queues for drinks from 10 40 on because people getting 4 or 5 drinks to last after 11 , one person serving on made up bar, no tea or coffee after 10 30 .No english information book ,no english flag. Food goodish alright if you like "pork" and"pork"and "pork" and "fish", very poor for children,,last 4 days we were there ,they served more spanish food for the spanish easter holidays.C an't go on sun loungers until 10 o'clock ,because they start hosing the pool area after 9 o'clock.

The apartments were fantastic....

Jan 2008, A Norman

The apartments were fantastic. Because of the time of year, there wasn't many people around leaving the pool practically free. I travelled with my parents and my girlfriend, and we all had a fantastic time. The only criticism I would have is the cleaners as they are ridiculously noisy and abrupt. I would strongly advise NOT staying in room 32, as this is near the cleaners room and even when asked to, they are not any quieter. Overall though, Lanzarote is a beautiful islands and these apartments are ideal for a quiet, relaxing stay.

Meant to be 4 stars with...
1 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr A Clark

Meant to be 4 stars with entertainment kids clubs from age of two. Air con stinks when it works, majority of staff rude, kids pool like a foot spa.
Health suite poor and additional cost for anything. Food not good, nothing for kids. Bar never open on time and closes at 11pm. Then its lights out back to your room or you are in trouble with security.
No snack bar and all drinks for pool served in tiny cups, fridges don’t work, air con as I mentioned limited when it works.
Kids club is far too small no park overall not good. Actually has no star rating, clean, and modern but needs a lot to become anything like a 3 star . All the best.
