The apartment was very clean and funcional, but paying 14 euros to watch tv programmes which we did not want was excessive 9euros for the hire of a hair dryer was also very poor! The pool was absolutely freezing cold no one was ever in there. The staff were quite helpful The short walk into Matagorda was very enjoyable the eating places good the rock ola bar very freindly best eating place was the Paradise restaurentwe would not go again but the weather was excellent

4 adults visited for 7 nights.
We travel a great deal & so our comments we think are fair.
First. Hotel very clean & staff nice.
Pool a good size & during our time there easy to sit by.
The food we found poor & very little changed each day.The worst was when we watched the chef cut the white meat from a turkey & place on a plate, which he then took away for the staff to eat ( & before you ask..it was well before all the guests have been in for their meal....)
It would seem the chef enjoyed over cooking some of the items on a regular basis,
As to the bar...well its about time the hotel understood that a bar is supposed to be "part" of the entertainment...to stand at the corner of two rooms & pathway to the pool is really not the best way to make you feel good.
As I only drink beer I cannot make comments . the other three feel that the quality of some of the "drinks" was well below good quality.
The entertainment was typical of most hotels to be fair..if you wish to see good quality then go and pay for it..But I do wish they would shoot the girl singer ( On about three times a week ) she had the flatest voice WoW...it made my eyes water...But I suppose her mother loves her..We didnot !!!.
The position of the hotel means that should you wish to go to the old town its a 5 euro taxis ride..each way.
The Red lion on the main road is a good place to book for trips..cheaper AND they use small buses . The guides are local & ver very good...

Overall the hotel was very clean and...

Sep 2008, Mr S Morris

Overall the hotel was very clean and tidy and the staff were pleasant. This hotel is quite small so there is rarely a que for the food and drink. The food is fine with a fair variety but we started to get a bit bored with it during our second week there. The evening entertainment was varied, some good, some terrible (but the bad ones were very amusing to watch). The hotel is located close to the beech, a local spar and restaurants but the lively part (puerto del carmen) is about 1-1.5 miles away (4-5 euros in a taxi). We ate and drank out most nights and found that it is worth shopping around as the prices vary alot. Don't go to this part of Lanzarote if you dont have too much cash to spend. I nearly had to sell a kidney to pay for the drinks in the bars and restaurants (pint of coke £4.20, pint of cider £3.20, pint of beer around £3.00, i met someone who paid 15 euros for 2 WKD's in one bar). Look out for the buy one get one free bars. PUERTO DEL CARMEN - Very lively this time of year with lots of bars and restaurants. Dont go to the TROPICAL BAR, they water the spirits down. The Teqilla bar was very good, free shots of teqilla and bottles of sparkling wine before you buy any drinks. We found that when going to a Spanish owned restaurant, they firstly bring you your drinks and also place a couple of bread rolls in front of you. Whether you eat them or not you will be charged 1 euro each for them (sneaky sneaky).
We had a new entertainer at the hotel called Tay from holland who was absolutely crazy. He spoke several languages and always got the guests partying. So much so that the hotel ended up banning him after 2130 (possibly due to the increased consumption of alcohol by all and hence more expence to the hotel). Previous comments have said that the bar closes at 2300. Now it closes at 1200am sharp and they dont mind you stocking up at closing time as long as not too much noise is made.
Be careful when bringing spirits back. We got a duff bottle of archers peach scnapps from one of the shops on the main strip - shocker.
Overall a good holiday if you want sun, beach, relaxing and nights out on the town, hotel accomodates for all age groups and children are catered for. Not much to do as far as day tips go unless you hire a car. Some nice sea life if you fancy snorkling in the sea near the rocks. You can go scuber diving for around 65 euros each but ive been told that it is better to go to Fuertoventura (12 min boat ride away) as there is some coral reef. Happy hols!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great resort, apartments were first class, clean and cleaned regular. nice touches, i.e flowers in vase on arrival, real plants in apt. gardens clean and tidy, nice pool and snack bar/ bar area. quiet residential area close to airport. DO NOT pay your tour operator for coach from and too airport, it takes 5 mins by taxi and will cost under 5 euro. Despite being close to the airport, it is not disrupting in any way. Bus to other resorts is only a 5 mins walk away, these are cheap modern and very frequent. Local bars and restaurant good food and booze. We went for a week, this was our first time on Lanzarote and we loved it, only downside....... we had to go home.
P.S I t was very hot but the breeze mad it bearable

Excellent holiday these apartments are clean comfortable and great value for money, the pool is cleaned daily, the only down side to the complex is there is only one person on duty on the bar and food, this means often they are in the kitchen cooking when you want to be served this makes it very slow.
Overall great complex, close to the beach and main resort centre.

My sister (26) and myself (23)...

My sister (26) and myself (23) thoroughly enjoyed staying here. We must admit with it being the school holidays there were many kids in the pool, so headed across the road to the wonderful and friendly Club Valena Apartments, where the food was great and reasonably priced. The pool here is very quiet and relaxing with about 4 people round it. The apartments in Pocillos are very spacious, however staying on the Ground floor we could hear any movement upstairs. The cleaners come nearly everday. I think there were only 2 days out of our 2 week stay they didnot clean. Towel change every other day. The nightlife in Matagorda is fairly quiet, however Puerto del carmen is 4 euros in a taxi and you can walk to the rank round the corner or book through reception at the hotel. The old town is brilliant and we were really annoyed we only found this place on the last night. Most of the ladies that work there are very helpful. On occasions some were quite lazy. Carole Wragg and Sarah are especially helpful. If you do decide to book this place.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT book a transfer. The end of the run way is across a field therefore your taxi will cost you 4 Euros maximum. Rather than the £25pp we paid! The taxi's are literally outside the airport waiting so no need to worry if on a late flight!
Aircraft noise is heard but not distracting, and flights are in and out all day along that side of the island so you get used to it.
Fairly cheap all round good hot holiday. Wouldnt stay here if you are after luxury but is better than basic.
Will definitely be staying at Club Valena next year instead.

Aug 2008, Mr J Shaddick

Prior to going on this holiday we were slightly concerned due to a number of negative comments written on previous reviews. However, these people just want something to moan about as this hotel was fabulous. Yes the evening entertainmemt and kids club is a little dissapointing compared to huge tour operator ran hotels but we found this entertaining in itself. Our youngest aged 8 won a crazy golf competition and was told that if he attended the entertainment room that evening he would get a prize. The prize turned out to be a cocktail! Funny as we were all inclusive and these were available in obundance to him anyway.
The roomsa are of a high standard and cleaned every day with towels changed daily. The whole place seems to be constantly cleaned. The pool area is spacious with a very nice kidney shaped pool which are children spent most of the 14 days in. The only negative about the pool is that the brits wake up at 6am to put towels on the beds. However, most of these sad individuals found it too hot and went in doors at about 10.30am just when we went to the pool to take over thier sunbeds!
The food is great with plenty of variety including fish, paella, meats, pasta, rice, salad and deserts. The selection is suitable for a hotle of this size and certainly appealed to us. Snacks are available throughout the day but these tend to be toasted sandwiches, pastries and little pasties. The drinks are very nice and did not appear to be watered doen or of a low standard. None of us suffered from any stomach trouble and really enjoyed the food and drink.
As always you will have people moaning, and I only wish that these people holidayed in Blackpool where they would get the cuisine and entertainment that they want, rather than moaning things are differnent. Of course its different, its in Spain so embrace and enjoy it or stay at home.
The location was perfect for us as you could spend a ten minute walk on an evening to the busy part of the resort but its far enough away not to be affected by rowdyness.
Forget taking any coats and jumpers as we had sun, sun and more sun for 12 out of the 14 days, and evenings were also very warm.
Enjoy!

Just returned from a week in this...
9 / 10
Aug 2008, Mrs K Bott

Just returned from a week in this hotel with my husband and 2 daughters aged 9 and 11. We had a great time, the food was very good, but we do like a whole range of foods. There was roast chicken one night, turkey one night and steak another. There was always fresh salad and fruit salad as well as a pasta and the usual chicken nuggests with chips for the kids. Breakfast was great with all the usual bacon, eggs, cereals etc. There was a paella every lunch time as well as a range of other foods to choose from. The pool was immaculately clean and although German people seem to have the worst reputation for hogging sunbeds it was definitely yhe Brits who were guilty of this. There was some form of entertainment each night, not really our cup of tea but at least they were trying. There is a mini disco each night although my 2 were a little too old for it. The booze is good, I've been to all inclusives where the booze makes you ill and is definitely watered down but I got quite merry here on a couple of occasions and never got an upset tummy at all! The rooms are small but we spent hardly any time in it so it was fine, we took our own DVD player with scart lead which was a god send to keep the kids happy when we were getting ready for dinner etc. The room was immaculately clean and there was maid service every day. Most of the staff were very friendly but there was one male receptionist who was very grumpy and quite unhelpful. The crazy resort of Puerto Del Carmen is a 20 minute walk away and there are loads of clubs, bars etc for young people looking for night life but the hotle is just far out of this place tobe peaceful and quiet at bed time. There is a lovely, quiet beach at the bottom of the road but it is very windy so lying on the beach is a bit tricky. A lot of people were very burned becasue the wind fools you into thinking you aren't getting hot, lots of suncream needed! It does get chilly at night so you can wear long sleeves comfortably and need a jacket if you go out walking when it's dark. Overall we had a great holiday and, conisdering what we paid for it, we would definitely go back.
