Good location and typical for Turkey
from lyntraveller
I was booked in here as pre tour accommodation with of a tour with Peregrine tours. My flight from Mykonos was delayed so I had to spend the night in Athens and I arrived the next morning to find they had sold the room. As a previous commenter: there was no room at the inn. So I had to wait in the lobby till 1pm when a room was empty. And people smoke in Hotel lobbies here of course. The rooms have small windows, and are dingy but adequate. When we returned from our trip I got the dungeon room. No window, but big with a double bed, and I'm...

Value for Money with Excellent and Freindly Service
from London-is
My wife and I along with my 3 year Old son, stayed for 3 nights in February. Our stay was very comfortable, we were given a very warm welcome by the receptionists who were extremely helpful in advising us on getting around Istanbul and sightseeing and most importantly spoke fluent English. Our room was fully equipped with all the modern comforts needed to make our stay comfortable. But the best part was the Breakfast, it was wonderful with so much to choose from from a variety of cuisines. The porter was ever so kind and caring towards my 3...

Worst hotel with the best views
from cyprustraveller094
We booked a delux double room and on arrival we were shown a very grubby room and told that for an extra £170 sterling we could have room 409 with the best views. Like fools instead of leaving we paid. They only wanted cash and we got no receipt so the staff we operating some sort of scam. The room had stunning views and that is all it had. The room was very small had no dressing table tiny drawers and one small wardrobe The TV had a flat screen which was a good job as there was no room to put a conventional TV. The mattress was...

Mediocre hotel for the money
from amanofwords
I stayed at the Golden Horn Sirkeci twice in July. (Note that there are two Golden Horns in the old part of Istanbul, one in Sultanahmet and one in Sirkeci. This review is about the one in Sirkeci.) The hotel was not my choice -- I was taking a tour of Turkey and my tour company booked the hotel for me. I paid for one night in addition at the beginning of my trip. My flight to Istanbul was delayed, and instead of arriving at noon, I got to the hotel at midnight. Even though I had prepaid for the room, the Golden Horn had resold it...

Friendly, helpfull staff
from travelot
This hotel was booked for us by a local business man. I did not want to stay there after reading the reviews but ended up there anyway. Had two small dark roomswhen we checked in and after a lot of complaining we were moved to a corner room, much better then the other two, had three big windows a little more room around the two tiny beds. The room was on the second story so it was noisy during the day and late in the night. Thankfully we were so tired every night that after a couple of nights we didn't seem to care about...

Not What I Expected
from Lisabelle71
My husband and I stayed here in August of 2006. My husband is a Turk and is very familiar with the standards of Turkish hotels. I would say that the Golden Horn is average at best. The first night we were there, we were given a room with 2 single beds. This was after I told them that this would be our honeymoon trip. This did not seem to be a problem for the hotel staff who assured us that the next night we would have a room with a double bed. After a horrible night sleep (the mattress was so old it was dented in the middle) we finally...

Excellent location to the bosphorus and center.
from ytonay
We stayed there a few week ago. The rooms were small but clean. Location was excellent indeed. We walked to everywhere. It was so close to sulatanahmet area. Also you can try fish restaurant under galata bridge. they were clean but not so much cheap!. Dr.David Dorrado.
good value for money
from hackneyboy
This hotel has a really superb location as it is nearer the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. A relaxing and frienly atmosphere and ever polite and helpful reception staff makes it rather attractive for every one perhaps. They collected me from the Istanbul International Airport during my recent trip to Istanbul and also took me to the same airport with their ring service on my return to the UK. I like their rich and healthy breakfast as well. Surely I will stay again at this hotel at my next trip to Istanbul. By Erdogan Sarikaya
A Place Far Below Par

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in January 2006. We originally booked (with confirmation) a hotel named "Accura Hotel" nearby; but were re-directed to this hotel because Accura was not even in operation. As we arrived there in a late evening, we were told the rate is 60 Euro. Basically we had no choice. The first night we were in room 507 with two double beds. The room was reasonably clean. However, big problems are the toilent doesn't work (water won't flush) and no hot water for shower. We informed the front desk asking...
