Barcelo Saray

After some confusion, we established that the Beyaz Saray and Barcelo Saray are the same hotel, the latter being its newer name. The hotel was full when we arrived so we had an upgrade to a suite. We would have been more than happy with the room but the suite was amazing. We wanted something nice for our final night in Istanbul after a whirlwhind tour of Turkey and were not disappointed with its location or quality. The bed was a king size one and very comfy. We stayed at this hotel during a holiday in Istanbul and I would highly recommend it. It is very conveniently located, in the old town, very near to the main attractions. You can easily walk to the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, St. Sophia and Top Kapi and the Grand Bazaar. The rooms we had were big – ish, clean, with big, comfortable beds and a very nice shower. Breakfast was also very good and it was included in the room rate. The staff was helpful enough even though they spoke little English.

After reading the reviews on tripadvisor.com I finally decided to stay at this hotel and was not disappointed. I got a very cheap package including flights for less than the cost of the room only rate. The staff here are very courteous and cannot be faulted for anything. The reception is small but very effient and the lobby is cool and stylish. There is a cafe off the lobby area and an internet room which is free of charge. There is also a hammam and a hairdresser on site. The rooms are of medium size but are very clean and well maintained.... more

This was our 4-th trip to Istambul, Turkey. We loved the hotel. Very new, clean, modern , contemporary style, good service. Easy and fast check in and out. Breakfast included, buffet style, with amazing views of the mosc, in the summer time you can sit outside on the balcony, but in the winter the room has huge windows so u can see the mosc while eating. We stayed here in february and the hotel was not busy. We got an exellent rate for a room with a view over the square to the mosque. The tram runs outside and we used it regularly to get to the golden gate and the main tourist sites which are also easily walkable. The bazaar is only a few hundred meters away. Our group of 6 (3 couples) arrived at the Barcelo Saray for a two night stay after our cruise that ended in Istanbul. We were not disappointed! Upon arrival around 9 am, our rooms were not ready, but the hotel staff stored our bags in a a secure place. We were then picked up by our private tour guide for a tour of Istanbul. My father, son and I had a wonderful stay at the Barcelo Saray. The rooms were very comfortable and quiet. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The buffet breakfast was OK. The location was very convenient and was a 15 minute walk to the main sites. There is a tram station very near to the hotel , (grand bazaar stop) and these trams will take you to the Blue mosque etc. You can buy tram tokens from kiosks, about 60p for any stop.

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2007 and were not disappointed. Make sure you book through the hotel's website (good rates) and, if you stay 3 nights or more, they send a car to pick you up from Ataturk airport - free of charge! We have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Barcelo Saray. We got a taxi from Ataturk Int. airport which only cost around 25 turkish lira (about £10 sterling) for a 20 minute journey. Whilst it is not in the best location, the Bazaar District, it has great links to Sultanahmet (10min walk, couple of minutes by tram) and Beyoglu, where there are a lot more modern bars/restaurants than the area Barcelo Saray is situated. Cheap deal with their own website, €100 per night, and included a free transfer from the airport (one-way only) if you're spending more than 3 nights there. On arrival, we got a room assigned. When I asked them to check that it was a non-smoking room, we were asked to wait. 10 minutes later we got exactly the same room key they had given me at the start. The room stank of cigarette smoke, as they had simply removed the ashtrays and put a "no smoking in bed" sign over the bed. The smell started to go away by the time we left. The... more
