This was our first holiday to Costa Teguise and we were very pleased with the resort. Plenty of restaurants and bars and a really clean beach. One of the best places we found for breakfast was a bar called The Lighthouse and it was hard to pass Lanis restaurant at night!
We found our complex quite good but although the room was regularly cleaned and towels and bed linen changed there was always a very damp musty smell in the bedroom.
I will definitely go back to Costa Teguise but I think we will try a different hotel next time.

Hotetur Puerto Tahiche is a really...

Nov 2006,  J & H Adlington

Hotetur Puerto Tahiche is a really good 3 star Hotel!
The food was excellent, a plentiful quantity and variety to suit every taste, served buffet style for all sittings, excellent with possibly one exception. The profuse abundance of chips, even for breakfast, not of course that you had to pile them on your plate at every meal but the occasional croquet, boiled or roast potatoes would have been a nice alternative at lunch and dinner. The soup cauldron was a definite starter for me, complete with crouton, defiantly not packet or tinned soup here!
The choices were too numerous to list for the main course, three or four meats, two or three fish, vegetables of all shapes and sizes. Nobody could say that there was nothing they fancied, all this followed by the largest and most varied profusion of deserts anyone could wish for, plus fresh fruit every day. Lunch snacks are available in the Tropical Poolside Bar from 1pm to 3pm
For the non Brits there was the usual array of spicy sausage, processed meats and cheeses. Picnic boxes are available if ordered before 6pm the night before you want them. Be prepared to be pleasantly amazed at what you get and the amount of it, I'll say no more!

The animation team consisting mainly of Jenny (from the Wirral,UK ), Matt (from Leeds, UK) and Oscar (from mainland Spain) Operated the majority of the Piano Bar entertainment and music as well as attending to the competitive Archery, Rifle shooting, Darts, Pool etc…throughout the day.
The rooms were block accommodation style, there was a kitchen range fridge etc... (I assume for the self catering brigade, the kitchen units had seen better days and the fridge was iced up completely).
A large lounge with comfortable furniture, dining table & chairs, coffee table, TV. A large bedroom with two single beds, oceans of storage and hanging space, even hangers were supplied. Extra channels were available for the TV at an additional cost as was the remote if you wanted it, but hey who goes on holiday to watch TV.
The soaps are on every night in the local bars, as are televised football matches.
A set of sliding patio glazed doors led onto the balcony, more tables, chairs and even a washing line attached to the enclosing wall of the balcony. The balcony in our case overlooked the main Atlantic bay. . The bar! The bar!!
On an all inclusive tariff was well hammered in my case, cocktails, G&T’s by the bucket full, I even tried Tia Maria and Baileys on crushed ice (not mixed of course until it entered my stomach!) Coffee (in a variety or forms), Soft Drinks and Booze was on tap from 10am till 12pm (11pm ended the all inclusive drinks) in the various bars around the hotel. (No Guinness though).
The staff were friendly and helpful in every way. Although there was an abundance of alcohol I didn’t see any examples of any drunken behaviour. The all inclusive deal doesn't operate in the 'Brandy Well' Irish Theme Bar in the reception lounge; this bar stays open till 1am.
Poolside was spotlessly clean and a life guard was in attendance for the entire pool opening time of 10am to 6pm. The sun loungers were stacked away each evening and chained & padlocked till 9am in the morning, thus preventing the crack of dawn lounger snatchers. (We all know who they are don’t we?)
The hotel boasts a Gym, Jacuzzi and Sauna; we didn't use any of these facilities so I can't comment about them.
Criticism: -
The hotel was dated and could do with a re-fit. The pools, although looking very inviting were freezing cold, this was not only my opinion but the vast majority of the guests, the fact was obvious by the lack of bathers in the water, (even the foolhardy were giving it a miss after the first dip) The sea on the other hand was cold but tolerable, I ventured in only the once.
The hotel access to the beach which used to be down several flights of stairs at the rear of the hotel was not in use and the area, although behind closed doors was a general depository for every bit of debris from the decaying structure. Not that I’m implying that the place is dangerous or falling to pieces, quite the opposite in fact is the case, what they have is maintained to the best of the maintenance crew’s ability in my opinion.
The hotel entertainment was of the usual standard, two evenings above average and the rest as one would expect from the in house staff productions. A small number of children were tiresome, running around the Piano bar till midnight, perhaps a little more parental control is needed, nothing the management could really do about it I suppose.
A safe in every room is available but at 22 euros (£15.00) a week for the key + 5 euros deposit I thought just a bit on the expensive side.
The hotel is on the flight path to Arricfe Airport but it didn't cause any concern, in fact I only noticed the planes going over a couple of times.

Substandard everything.
The choice of food was next to non-existent from the buffet options. Fish and Veal featured heavily on the menu and was not at all to my liking. The fish wasn't even de-boned so my granddaughter had a very difficult time with the menu.
The rooms smelt heavily of smoke with little ventilation.
We also had extra guests staying with us in our room - specifically the cockroaches in the bathroom made themselves at home, in fact it appeared that we were actually staying in their room, once we killed the family of them we didn't see any again in our room, we did happen to see them in the shower by the pool.
The ants around the basin in living room / cooker area were of great delight to see it reminded us of picnics at home.
I know it's a 3 star hotel but you would have thought they would have some towels that we could at least rent for the duration of our stay to use on the beach etc.
If you can stay anywhere else - I would seriously recommend that you do so.

Just returned from a week here and I loved every minute. It was a fantastic hotel. The staff were very friendly and the entertainment was fantastic. I am returning again in a couple of weeks as I enjoyed it that much.
The food was really nice and plenty of variety with something different everyday.
The drinks were great on the All Inclusive but didn’t include drinks from the Brandy Well pub, but not a problem as they were cheap enough.
The room was cleaned daily and the pools and patio areas were washed down every morning.
Fantastic hotel with fantastic people.

Me and my family went last year we found it ok nowt much we are going again in September 2006. The pool was very clean my kids loved it the kids club was good and if you want a brilliant day out go to the aqua park (it’s a water park) there is pool games to play.
The cleaners are very kind as well, the night life is very good and the pubs are so full of shows you don’t know which one to go to at all.

Sep 2006, Mrs A

We found the hotel to be very nice and clean. Had two interconnecting rooms as 2 adults and 4 children, lots of room. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby.
Children really enjoyed the hotel run mini club with Lisa, Mo and Maria which runs 10.30 - 12.30 and 2.30 - 4.30. Had lots of fun. They also have fun activities for the adults around the pool twice a day. Entertainment programme in evening for children and families. Internet access 2 euro for 30 mins which my eldest was very pleased with!
Good swimming pools but be warned a lot of sun beds had towels on before breakfast. The hotel does remove towels after asking a few times.
Rancho Texas excellent night out for all the family, the grand tour of island was tiring and not enough time at each stop, water park is a good day out, submarine safari was excellent.
Very hot but with the breeze you don't realise how hot, so use lots of sun cream.
Would definitely go here again in a few years.

Aug 2006, Miss S Cooper

My family and I went to this accommodation in August 2005 and we had such a lovely time that we wanted to return the next year, which we did. Well it was not so good this time, when we arrived they did not have a 2 bedroom apartment for us. So we were given 2 one bedroom apartments in different locations.
We had no bedding and working toilet in one room and insects crawling in the beds in the other room. We told reception about this and were told that it was too late to do anything about it. Eventually after a lot of hassle the next day we got the room that we had booked.
There are not as many sun loungers this year, it seems that as they break they are not being replaced, and you have to wait in the morning for about an hour if you want to get one.
There evening entertainment I must say is not very good either. I don’t know what has happened for it to go so down hill. I certainly won’t be going back there again.

We had a great holiday at Puerto...
8 / 10
Aug 2006, Selebian

We had a great holiday at Puerto Tahiche. The weather was quite cool in the evenings. We only sat outside a bar on the last night but it was getting really hot during the day.
The welcome meeting was a complete waste of time. It was a hard sell for MyTravel phone cards and trips. They even got a woman from the company which does the catamaran trip to come and speak.
I was gob smacked when the rep said people could have a free trip to Puerto del Carmen with this other couple. It was obviously a time-share or holiday club or something. They also tell you that you can only do the Timanfaya trip with a proper tour. In fact the only thing you miss out on by doing it yourself is the camel ride!
I know the rep had a lot of info to give us but she told us nothing about the resort, e.g. where to catch the bus to Arrecife/PdCarmen, the market in Pueblo Marinero on Friday night. Nor did she warn us about all the dodgy electrical traders about the island. In fact the rep was if anything obstructive.
She was extremely unhelpful when we were trying to get info about our homeward departure and room check-out time, wanting us to come back from our day out in the car to see her between 4 and 6pm. When we were not prepared to do this we didn't get the info. She had also told me she was not going to put it on the board. In fact it appeared mid morning the day before departure.
The apartments are in the very centre of the resort. They were very clean. Ample fresh towels and bedding. We were on the top floor overlooking the pool. We only saw 3 cockroaches in the bathroom. They were getting in through the loose door frame. It was great to have a kettle and toaster. I don't know why we had a microwave because there wasn't so much as a bowl to warm up a can of beans or make scrambled eggs!!!!
In the Puerto Tahiche you could upgrade from self-catering to all-inclusive for €30 each for the week. You had to get your drinks from the upstairs bar though. We never went up there. It was always such a racket! Some of the all-inc people were going up there and bringing their drinks down into the Brandy Well pub. Plenty of supermarkets round about and places where you could get food to take out including spit roast chickens. No bakeries or pastry shops though.
Costa Teguise was a nice resort, much bigger than I expected. Plenty of places to walk. We did think the resort was expensive. For a starter and main course for 2 and a bottle of wine it was €40 or more. In Greece last summer it was €27. The drinks were quite dear as well. Several of the restaurants gave free shots after the meal. Just be careful if you go to the Tex-mex in the passage behind Chispas bar in the square.
We had the best meal of the week there and had decided to go back the following night until we got the bill. The wine was €11.60 (€10 on menu). They charged €1.65 for a tiny bottle of water which we didn't really want and the shots they gave us were on the bill as 'complimentary' €2!!. Total €45. Needles to say we didn't go back and they got a very small tip. We were pleasantly surprised that you could get traditional food and tapas at several places.
El Pescador was favourite, fish casserole or mixed grill being delicious and good value. The tapas at the tiny El Pueblo in the square was good. Steaks at La Pardella were excellent but if you normally ask for 'medium' ask for 'well done'. The 'medium' ones are well bloody and 'well done' is what I would call 'medium'.
The staff were very friendly and fun in there as well. We also enjoyed El Patio. We had lunch at the Vesubio one day. The Spanish tortillas were just chips with eggs chucked on top. Very fatty! Not impressed! Bulldog pub was dire. Castle bar was nice but more expensive than Chispas next door. After 10.30 nothing doing really. A lot of retired people in the resort and I think they had all gone to bed. Sunbeds and brolly cost €8.
Did the tourist thing this time in the hire car. The roads are very good. Jameos del Agua, Cuevos do los Verdes. The Mirador del Rio was very impressive. Clouds were drifting up from the sea towards us and then evaporating. The Fire Mountain was worth visiting and we had a ride down to Playa Blanca, a very nice resort. Called at Puerto Calero on the way back to look at the boats and the harbour in Pd Carmen. Try the last 2 late in the afternoon and there is ample parking.
All in all a very enjoyable holiday. We would definitely go back to this resort and apartments. Playa Blanca is also worth considering for another time but we would pass on Puerto del Carmen. Probably cheaper but too much like Blackpool!

Jun 2006, Not Specified

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Puerto Tahiche. Like most of the reviews i read before we went, we were a bit worried about staying at these apartments.
On arrival was pleasantly surprised. Apartment was clean and bright. We were on ground floor and found this to be good with having two children, we weren't worried about them falling over the balcony!
We did have a few visits from cockroaches but reported this to reception and the apartment was sprayed with a strong insect killer whilst we were out.
As we were self catering, we ate out every night. We never had a bad meal wherever we went, although at the start of our second week went into a new Irish bar, Hennessey’s, and once we had a meal there, we went there every night after that. The food was fantastic and the welcome from the owners, Richard and Lorraine, was lovely. They made time to speak to everyone in the bar.
We found the hotel kids club to be much better than the Airtours one. The Airtours reps seemed like they couldn't be bothered doing anything with the children and my daughter was bored most of the time. On the other hand, the hotel kids club was much better and the kids really enjoyed it there and took part in the shows with Maria.
We found that the Airtours rep, was just there to sell trips, phone cards and pre booked flight seats and get as much commission as possible. The welcome meeting gave no important information such as fire exits, etc, but was just sell, sell, sell. At the end of the holiday it was like the secret service trying to get information about the coach pick up time back to airport. She was more bothered about getting the questionnaire filled in than giving us the times. I wasn't prepared to waste half an hour completing a questionnaire for her to get her brownie points just to get information we needed. Another family told us what time the coach was coming!
Overall, we had a brilliant holiday. The location of the apartments was great with loads of bars and restaurants right on the doorstep.

Hi, just got back from the Puerto...

Jun 2006, Mrs D Meacher

Hi, just got back from the Puerto Tahiche Apartments and thought I’d write a review as some of them on here aren’t very fair to the complex.
Upon arrival we were met and swiftly transported to the apartments and checked in relatively quickly and they do keep your passport but its safer in there safe than in your room where it could be broken into (Not that we were though). We asked for adjoining rooms and were told that we couldn’t get it but when we went upstairs to the rooms they were right next door to one another and they were very, very clean and what a view we were met with, one was the beautiful view and the other was the scenery around us.
The complex was so clean but a little out dated which they were rectifying whilst we were there. The pool area's were fantastic and so clean, but the one thing I would say is get down to the pool by 9.30am as there is a queue to get the loungers and only choose the blue ones as the white ones are often broke. The restaurants are everywhere so it does cater for every taste in the family and there are plenty of supermarkets.
On Sunday we went to the market and had a Sunday roast at the Bulldog right opposite the hotel where you can get a great meal. There isn’t a lot for the older kids to do but if you have young kids this place is great for them. There is amusement arcades everywhere for the older kids so they aren’t left out and the jellyfish caters for them at night.

This was our second visit to this resort. Brilliant for young families and the kids club and disco were fantastic. Staff very friendly.
Just one problem, from our visit last year we had complained that the pool grids around the children’s pool were unsafe as the children had slipped on them several times, this was also the case this time around although we were assured this problem had been fixed.
Overall lovely place.

Just arrived back from Lanzarote...
5 / 10
Mar 2006, Mr C Greaves

Just arrived back from Lanzarote myself my partner and 2 children aged 11 and 13 also my mother and a friend .we stayed at the Puerto Tahiche hotel on a half board basis. On arrival we were given 3 rooms all slept 2, this we didn't mind this set up only two rooms were in totally different blocks.
We found the hotel to be very nice and clean with an adequate pool but be warned not a lot of sun beds and these had towels on before breakfast. (Not by Germans either). Couldn’t complain about the food good varied meals all week.
Found staff to be nice although reception slow when checking in. The MyTravel rep was not a bungle of laughs but we've had a lot worse. We went on 2 trips, the grand tour, it's ok a long day not enough time at the different stops. The tour guide was awful not pleasant and very poor English.
A few days later we went on the catamaran this proved to be our best day brilliant staff, great food and drink well worth it oh and you get to jet ski awesome. Out and about in Costa Teguise there’s loads of places to eat and drink but not many shops. The resort is not that big and you can do it all in a day so be warned don't expect stacks of nightlife unless watching footballs your thing.
The beaches are beautiful but not very big. Caught the local bus to Puerto del Carmen only 2 euros well worth a day out, large beach and mile long prom with bars, shops etc.
This is the first time I’ve ever done a review and all i can say is this is a nice hotel and resort but having 2 teenage kids they were bored a lot nothing for that age group anywhere!
If your taking this age group of kids visit Ryan’s bar on the front we called for a drink St Patrick’s day the staff made a right fuss with the kids and made them feel apart of the crowd great night!
