Angel's Home Hotel

We arrive in Istanbul from Milan in the middle of the night. It is 1.30 of the 29th of june when the taxi driver drops us in front of the Angel's Home Hotel. "My God" I say to my wife "I hope I made the right choice...." In facts we are confused: the hotel is very small, in a very small and silent street, nobody of the two young guys at the reception speaks two words of any foreign language, and we are tired. My husband and I stayed four days at Angel's Home Hotel and absolutely loved it. It was our first stay in the hotel and the city, but it certainly won't be our last! Booking the hotel I first found the hotel on Expedia as part of a package deal with a flight to Istanbul. The photos on Expedia looked pretty good, so I checked out the reviews on Tripadvisor. My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful week in Turkey. Our time was divided between Istanbul at the Angel's Home Hotel and a five star resort in Beleck. We now wish that we had spent all our time at Angel's. Even though we enjoyed the five star all inclusive hotel, we felt at home at Angel's. The staff is friendly and very helpful. My stay at Angel's Home was a great experience, and I truly appreciated the hospitality of the owners. I traveled to Istanbul on my own and the two brothers went out of their way to ensure that my visit was safe and enlightening. The rooms were extremely nice and it was such a pleasure to stay in the heart of historic Sultanahmet. I would recommend Angel's Home to anyone staying in Istanbul, and I will certainly stay there when I return to that majestic city.

In June of 2004 I travelled to Istanbul with my family and several friends in order to celebrate my birthday. We were sufficient in number to book the entire Angel's Home Hotel for a period of one week. I must say that the hotel was magnificent being located in the old city of Istanbul close to the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Roman Cistern. People - if you want a perfect location, great views and food from a rooftop terrace, and customer service that is top notch, this is the place. The hotel is located in Sultanahmet, nestled in a quiet street that is 5 minutes from the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofya. There are charming little cafes, restaurants and shops along the way. We recently enjoyed three nights at Angel's Home in the historic Old City in Istanbul. It is in an excellent location within walking distance of most of the historic sights, and quick access to the funicular. We arrived in the morning on the train from Thessaloniki, well before check-in time. As one of our rooms was not quite ready, we were welcomed to the rooftop terrace where we enjoyed the great view of the sea and the Blue Mosque. Nothing to add about the Hotel or the Owners, already been said by previous reviewers. Our biggest disappointment of the whole 3-day stay was the meal at the Fish Restaurant recommended by Hakan. The setting was a small back street, the menu was abandoned by the head waiter, who basically told us what to eat, we had to ask him for bread, the fish/seafood came with no side salad or veg, and with one drink cost 55 Lira per person. This is a family hotel with very nice people .Quality of welcome and service. Small (only 20 rooms) and very quiet. Very well located between Marmara sea and Sultanhamet (Blue mosquee) with a wonderful view on both when you are sitting on the terrace. A small, friendly hotel in the old town of Istanbul. Newly restored with roof terrace with a wonderful view ove Marmara Sea i one direction and the Blue Mosque in the other. Pick up from the Airport in the hotel car a Chevy Bel Air is a cool gimmick.
