Alzer Hotel

The hotel is in an excellent location to explore greater SultanAhmet and Istanbul. The nightly views of the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque were beautiful, and there are trams within easy walking distance. The breakfast was excellent, and the view is positively breathtaking. Stayed at the Alzer in Sultanamet. The hotel was clean and the rooms adequate. The view from the resturant was astounding. The breakfast which was included in the price was exellent, with fresh honey stright from the honeycomb. The hotel is in a good location for the sites. The blue mosque and the sophia is directly opposite and a must. We also went to the grand bazzar which really needs time to do it justice as it is so massive. If you are only in Istanbul for a night I would sugget that you stay on the other side of the blue mosque... more

We chose this hotel because of its prime location - right on the hippodrome downtown Istanbul. The hotel was a bit more expensive than the rest of the hotels in this area. Our room was tiny, with a small window looking at the back yard. But we knew we were not going to get great views from our hotel window, because we booked the cheapest room. Great location in the historic part of town very close to the key attractions and ferry port. Hotel staff friendly and food very good but room did not live up to expectations or at least the reviews read in Trip Advisor. WiFi mega slow, Bed side lamp broken, safe in room broken, bed linen had wholes in it etc etc. The hotel had done some plastering in my room but had not got around to painting, looked a little scrappy. we spent 3 days at Alzer.we were newly weds on our honeymoon and had spent the last one week on tour of Turkey and were quite tired of the checking in and out of hotels. We walked around the sultahament area and the grand bazar area looking for a nice and comfortable hotel to spend the last 3 days of our honeymoon. we were so impressed by the decor in the looby and even more when we looked at the room. we got a room facing the back alley with wonderful window love seats and attached bathroom. Location: It can't any better, across the road from the Blue Mosque, short walk (15min) to Grand Bazaar. Very safe and convenient. Room: We stayed in 2 separate rooms, both we great, nice understated Turkish style. Good size. Very Clean. Service: The staff were fantastic, very friendly, very helpful Value: Definitely great value, we'll be staying there again. Excellent selection for breakfast, and a million dollar view.

I stayed in the Pasha suite. Very nice with a wonderful view of the hippodrome, Blue mosque and Hagia Sofia...worth every penny. I could just sit in the living room and read and look out on the wonderful view, or walk down and out into the the 'drome and mingle with people. Staff very helpful. Clean. Food reasonable. I'm not sure what the other rooms are like. The Pasha suite was part of the 'experience' of my visit.

Hotel Alzer is an absolute winner when it comes to location. It’s ideally situated in the heart of Old Istanbul, opposite the Blue Mosque and within walking distance of the Aya Sofia, the Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar. I have just returned from an unforgettable visit to Istanbul, which was heightened by my stay in the Alzer Hotel. We stayed in room 11, with 3 windows overlooking the Hippodrome and the Blue Mosque. The Alzer Hotel is ideally located and the 6th floor dining room has sweeping views over the Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque and the Sea of Mamara. Stayed here for four nights. Availed of the airport collection service - a friendly young chap was waiting for us on arrival. I would agree with previous posters regarding location, just across from the Blue Mosque, perfect for a short stay. The room was clean and comfortable, although the furniture was a bit jaded. My only negatives were regarding staff, who although mostly friendly, were not without their idiosyncracies.
