Legend Hotel

Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The people, the room, the location, the price, the view, the breakfast. Everything was wonderful. The people there were so helpful in giving information about places to see and things to do. I would recommend having them set up sightseeing tours for you for places further away from the hotel (i.e Spice market, River crusies), other wise everything is very easily seen on foot right from the hotel. You go up the hill about 300m and there is the Grand Bazaar. Go down the hill 300m and there is the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia and Topkopi Palace. If and when we go back to Istanbul there is no doubt we will stay here again. For rooms a little more quite ask for rooms not on the street. I am sure they'll be happy to help.

We had a pleasant stay here. It was basic, but comfortable. PROs: excellent location, amazing views from the roof, great staff. CONs: plumbing in our room was fitted by monkeys! As you can see, not much to complain about and much to recommend. I have included one pic from the balcony from the other direction. There are plenty around of the view of the Blue Mosque.

If you’re looking for a hotel in Istanbul and you’re there for vacation or business and need a place you can walk to all the historical places and near every big city if you’re there for business and want a hotel safe, clean, friendly staff and not expansive Legend Hotel is the place to stay. We went Istanbul again and this time we wanted to stay somewhere cheaper and good place because last time we stay in very expansive hotel and we were hardly in the room and wasted all that money on that hotel. We could buy more gifts or do more in the city. This time we stay at Legend Hotel it was a great place to stay, what a location… wow! Two minutes walking distance (yes maybe shorter) from every historical place called Sultan Ahmet square and Hotel is very safe, Clean and great staffs very helpful and friendly and we did have everything the other place had and we paid less. I absolutely recommend everyone Legend Hotel. Have a great time and don’t over spend. Because you don’t need too. Jesse from Seattle, Washington, USA

I did my research on the hotels in Istanbul. The Legend was the only one I found that was inexpensive, perfectly located in Sultanhamet, and had a balcony overlooking the Sea of Marmara. I negotiated a great price directly with the hotel. We had a triple room (Room 309). The bathroom was incredibly small but still adequate. The three twin beds and pillows were comfortable and everything was sparkling clean. The view from our balcony was fabulous as long as you were looking straight ahead. The backs of buildings all over Istanbul are not as pretty as the front, so don't expect that. The Legend was exactly what they represented to me. A charming hotel with some quirks that gave it character and made our stay that much more memorable in Istanbul. I am very glad we did not choose a “cookie cutter” hotel to stay in such an enchanting city. We loved our stay at the Legend and in Istanbul. I read a review from another guest that commented that they were not picked up from the airport. My experience was completely different. We were all picked up exactly as promised by a wonderful Turk named Mehmet. Hi Mehmet!! In fact, to go a step further, our travel agent (not the Legend) screwed up our transfer to the airport for our domestic flight to Izmir. The staff at the Legend scrambled and took care of everything for us. They even contacted the travel agent on our behalf to complain. We were reimbursed for the transfer thanks to them! Also, we never had to ask for anything twice, except towels:). When we requested them to set up a city tour or reservation for us, they only needed to be asked once and always had everything in order. The rooftop bar alone is worth the stay. It has a perfect view of the Blue Mosque and the Sea of Marmara. It's absolutely gorgeous at night with all the lights shimmering. Hanging out on the rooftop drinking Turkish wine is definitely our kind of relaxing vacation. The staff was incredibly kind and courteous to us. We would stay at the Legend again and actually plan to next year. The charm of the hotel made our visit to Istanbul a wonderfully memorable experience.

The hotel has a very good location, very nice and pleasant personnel, combining with a vey good rate.

This hotel is too pricy for what it offers. First, the hotel taxi which was supposed to pick us up from the airport never showed up (although the price was already included). Random excuses were given. Second, the room given to us was rather unclean (bed-sheets and bathroom). We paid almost $90 per night, but the quality of the room and the service of the hotel attendants was far less than desirable. Much better hotels with much cheaper prices are available in that area. The only good thing about the hotel was its location in Sultan-Ahmet area, but there are more than 100 similar hotels in that area. So if you have no choice left, only under that condition should you book this hotel. And one last piece of advise: the picture that the hotel has posted online on most websites is a "digitally modified" picture. The actual hotel does not look even 10% of what the online pictures look like. Istanbul is a great city, but Hotel Legend is not. Dont spoil your vacation in such a nice city with a bad choice for your accomodation.

This little hotel is situated right in the heart of the old City and is within easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar and Topkapi Palace. The view from the rooftop terrace is fantastic and at night you seem to be sitting practically a stone's throw from the beautiful illuminated Blue Mosque. The staff were pleasant and friendly without being intrusive and the room was always spotless. Admittedly, because the room was front facing we got the full benefit of the call to prayer every morning but, then again, I wanted to experience as much of the real Istanbul as possible... I thoroughly enjoyed my stay - I'll definitely visit Istanbul again and I'd happily stay at this Hotel again.

Date 25/26 July 2005 - An independant traveller - London Hotel Legend Istanbul - July 2005 -Not good enough for the price. The Legend is very centrally located in Sultanhamet. The room we were given was rather pokey and the bathroom was not very clean. The shower in particular was poor. I suppose we started off badly with the Legend as the pre-booked hotel transfer taxi did not arrive to pick us up and after hanging around after a four hour flight we made our own way there. The breakfast was barely adequate. We would not book there again. However I cannot criticise the staff too much as they raced out after me with my documents and credit card folder that I had left on the reception desk( such was my hurry to get away !) If you want to be close to the main sights of Sultanhamet and dont mind a bit of noise and dust then the Legend might be for you.

The Hotel Legend is a great little hotel in a great location in the old part of Istanbul (Sultanahmet). The staff is incredibly nice and helpful, and the rooms are simple but very charming. The prices are reasonable, and include breakfast at the restaurant downstairs. The rooms facing the street can be noisy, so the rooms facing the back are nice. Mine had a wonderful seaview.

This is an economy hotel, and it serves its purpose well. I recently spent three nights here, in the off-season period. I was the only guest in the hotel during my stay, and the staff were very attentive and friendly. My main problem was the the hot water was turned on only for a brief period in the mornings; it ran cold at other times (presumably this would not be the case if the hotel was full). It is a good place to stay if you do not need luxury, but want an economical hotel in a safe and conveninent location.
